Town are one of a number of clubs said to be keeping tabs on Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller.

According to the Scottish Sun, Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, have the 18-year-old on their summer wish-list with fellow Serie A side Udinese, who had a bid turned down in January, the Blues and Southampton also among the potential suitors with his club anticipating his departure this summer.

“Lennon is part of our plans but there’s interest in him constantly, like every 24 hours,” manager Jens Berthel Askou said.

“It’s still there and it’s increasing more and more as clubs get more and more active.

“That’s an interest he has created by performances. It’s not like it’s going up and down. It’s busy around Lennon. There’s nothing concrete right now but it could change quickly.

"There are other people also dealing with it within the club who maybe know more than I do.

“Eventually that interest will form into something concrete and an offer and something he wants and we want in the club.

“Right now he’s here and he’s happy, we’re happy, everyone is happy. I spoke to him an hour ago.

“He’s really pleased with the role he has and what we are trying to do because it suits him really well.

“But we also know the time will come when he will take the next step. If it’s this summer, then time will tell. It could be.”

Wishaw-born Miller, the son of former Scotland international Lee Miller, came through the youth system at Motherwell having joined the club aged seven and made his senior debut at only 16 years and six days.

Reportedly valued at £4.5million, he has already gone on to make 64 senior starts and 12 sub appearances for the Steelmen, scoring six goals.

Having been capped at U16, U17, U19 and U21 levels, Miller won the first of his two full caps in June against Iceland, the same game in which Blues keeper Cieran Slicker made his international debut.

The Blues are in the market for midfielders this summer even with Azor Matusiwa close to signing from Rennes with Jens Cajuste appearing unlikely to return following his loan spell, Kalvin Phillips having departed at the end of his spell and Massimo Luongo released.
I know nothing of this guy, maybe Marko can enlighten us ?

Very useful player indeed. And his dad, Lee was decent as well. I would say definitely sufficiently talented enough for the English Championship. Could no doubt do a job in Italy with Como as well……. Follow the footsteps of McTominay and Gilmour to Serie A.

🚨🇲🇽 Ipswich Town are in negotiations with Toluca for the signing of Marcel Ruiz for €10 million.

Marcel Ruiz, a mixed midfielder with a strong ability to reach the opposing goal, has just won the 2025 Gold Cup with the Mexican National Team, defeating the United States.
He also won the Liga MX Clausura 2025 title with Toluca, defeating América.

He has played eight matches with the Mexican national team, the majority of them this year.

Yes it would be a very good signing, but.....................

That's the 4th player TWTD have reported we are in talks with in the last 4 days, one of whom was reported that the deal was imminent. Yet what have we actually signed?
I'm starting to lose faith in TWTD - I don't think they know any more than we do.

Often takes a few days to get media videos and pics etc ready after a medical and such, especially
If players are abroad.

Club are also probably fairly busy this weekend 😂

I think sometimes fans are way too impatient and unrealistic when it comes to transfers and timescales especially in July when so many football bods are on holiday. It may also be necessary to move one or two players out before we commit to bringing players in. I guess also if Omari leaves our needs will be different than if he stays and there may be others where a similar situation occurs. I’m certainly not unduly concerned yet and feel certain three or four new players will be recruited before the season kicks off.

Dunno about you but every morning I check in to see if we've bought Thijssen and Muhren.

Agreed, and frankly why would the club rush to announce deals - what is the benefit for them? I get that it settles the fans down a bit but if a club know a deal is agreed they don’t really need to break their necks to announce it.

I actually feel if Omari leaves we may not replace him - given the numbers of attackers we have already - I don’t think you can directly replace a player of level when we are at this level, if he stays surely he’d be one of the top 3 players in the league this year.

Also we are still in a one in one out squad size situation so can’t see too many signings this season, and more will
Need to go out.

For me it's not about fans being appeased and settled, it's about having the core of your team together for pre season training and friendlies giving them the opportunity to bond and actually get to know each other, that allows the team to potentially hit the ground running and to get off to a flying start which is so important in the Championship.

Bringing one player in late is maybe ok when blooding them in but if we are potentially going to sign Three or Four that are to be first teamers makes it all a bit up in the air and a possible slow start, for me it's definitely not ideal doing most business late, hopefully this week sees some positive movement.

I see Sam Morsy is being linked with a move to Derby County ( Source EADT).

Is this a new rumour or had it been heard before ?

It's a new one, but seeing as we are in with a chance of promotion he is gonna know there will be no contract on offer at the end of the existing one so I wouldn't dismiss this rumour just yet.

TBH I think it would be a good move for him, plus with a year on his contract still to fun it means we would pick up a fee albeit only a small one. Furthermore we appear to have someone lined up to replace him. Win win situation all round.

I think hos time here is co.i g to an end. It would be good for both parties to move on. I'm not sure his legs will take another full championship season at the intensity McKenna wants h8s tram to play at and our midfield is often a weak point in dealing with teams that transition fast. We're too slow through the middle and have been for a while.

I’d keep him for sure. We lack leaders and he is truely one.
Wouldn’t be a starter for me but a great rotation option or someone to see out tight games etc.

seems silly to move him on and then try and find a backup CM to replace and settle in etc

Cédric Kipré in the door on a season long loan, that's the left sided CB sorted.
Town have completed the season-long loan signing of Reims central defender Cédric Kipré.

On Wednesday, reports from France revealed the Blues had made an approach for ex-West Brom, Wigan and Cardiff man Kipré with the 28-year-old set to sign on loan with the deal reportedly including a mandatory option for a €4.5 million (£3.9 million) permanent switch should the Blues return to the Premier League in the campaign ahead. Reims have confirmed the deal includes an option to purchase.

Kipré travelled to Suffolk for his medical and to complete the formalities on his switch on Thursday.

“I spoke with the manager and I really liked what he said about the way he wants to work. He wants to work hard – I also want to work hard.” he told the club site.

The 6ft 4in tall central defender has spent much of his career in England, joining Leicester City as a young player from PSG in 2014 and having had spells with Wigan, West Brom and at Cardiff on loan.

Paris-born Kipré, who is right-footed by often operates as a left centre-half, moved to Reims from the Baggies last summer, signing a deal to the summer of 2027, with the Blues also having been linked.

Kipré, who played 28 times in Ligue 1 last season, made his international debut for the Ivory Coast, for whom he qualifies via his parents, in June having previously played for their U23s.

While at Leicester, for whom he failed to make a senior appearance, he spent time on loan in non-league with Corby Town, before a stint in Scotland with Motherwell.

During his time as a West Brom player, where he spent four years, he had a spell on loan in Belgium with Charleroi.

Town have been in the market to add to their central defensive ranks this summer with Cameron Burgess and Axel Tuanzebe having left on free transfers to join Swansea City and Burnley respectively.

Kipré is the Blues’ first outfield signing of the summer, following the recruitment of veteran keeper David Button following his release by Reading.

A decent Championship signing but I’m not convinced of his suitability for the Premier League so the compulsory buy clause if we get promoted is a strange one at least for ITFC if not for Reims. Anyway I’m sure we won’t be bothered if he helps us bounce straight back.

hmmmmm - earlier on in this thread, somebody answered observations that Birmingham had done a lot of business by saying that we wanted better and we were holding out for better quality players than they had signed. I'm not convinced that this particular signing falls into that category.

He is just a backup CB.

Rather have kept Burges but that wasn’t possible as I imagine he wanted to start.

I doubt it - but if we get back to the prem that could definitely be an option. Davis would be suited to LWB and Johnson on the other side, worked well away at spurs etc.
