Which england midfielder is better? This is something that has been debated to death at The Holmesdale.

Lampard by a huge margin. Lampard doensn't unsettle the rest of the team by claiming Prima Donna status and making himself the centre of attention all the time. He also scores a lot more goals. Gerrard is arguably better defensively, but he's also a scowser.

Lampard by far! he is the better all round player. Gerrard hits the odd good shot and the odd good long ball... other then that he is overatted IMO

i disagree with this!! As far as I am concerned Gerrard is the better player as he is a more complete midfielder that Lampard, as he is very good at both defending and attacking! IMO he is 2nd best to Vieira in that role! Also, the reason Lampard scores more goals is because of the way there are both played i.e. Gerrard as the Defensive Midfielder, and Lampard as the Attacking Midfielder, yet Gerrard is still quality in attack, but not sure on Lampard's defensive abilities!!

I have to say Gerrard. I don't think the England midfield suits him because he is forced to play the holding role, letting Lampard push forward. as well as having to deal with Beckham drifting in from the right demanding the ball. I'd like to see him playing in a midfield with a more natural wide player on the right such as Wright-Philips and then see what he can do.

Saying that, I wouldn't mind seeing either in a Town shirt! We don't need beckham though cos we already have Miller drifting from the right playing a central role!

Lampard without doubt!

That pass to Beckham was worldclass.

Both players are different types of midfielders so i'm going to go on who I rate personally.

For me it's gotta be Gerrard, a captain who sets a good example, if he were to leave Liverpool he wont be able to replace and they would slip out of the top 5 bracket.

He shows real spirit and passion for the club he supports, he can tackle cleanly, fizz a 50 yard pass on the head of a 2p piece and has a long range shot on him that world class strikers would be proud of.

To be fair Lampard is also a quality midfielder but the thing that is missing from his arsenal is that he can't tackle cleanly and gives away too many free kicks.

Lamps and Stevie G would be awesome in midfield next season for Chelski (if the rumours of the transfer are to be believed) as they complemet each other, Stevie G winning the ball and using Lampard as the outlet.

In my opinion, I'd like to see Sven try Lampard and Gerrard in the centre on the England midfield with Beckham out on the wing or even drop Beckham and play Shaun Wright-Phillips wide right.

Anyway, thats my opinion - feel free to comment.

In my opinion Lampard has overtaken Gerrard as England's best midfield player (forget Beckham he hasn't been at his best since the Greece game in 2001/2002).

Gerrard was poor in Portugal last summer, in fact Lampard was our only midfielder to come out of that tournament with any credit, the rest were all poor at best, pathetically rubbish at worst.

Gerrard has both been a plus and a curse for Liverpool, too much of Liverpool's play seems to have to go through him, if you look at Liverpool's early form this season they actually did better without him in the side, his presence can make them too predictable.

Lampard has improved since moving to Chelsea and now under Mourinho he is one of the best midfielders in Europe, if not the World, IMHO.

For me the "Player of the Season" award in the Premiership is between Lampard and Terry with John Terry possibly just shading it due to Chelsea's phenomenal defensive record.
