A txt from a Sunderland fan about Davis

Do u want Davis back? We thought he was a keeper. Was booed for last 20 mins let alone end of the game! Beaten by a shot across him for the 6th time this season, standing in no mans land and beaten from 40 yards, collided with own centre half for the 3rd goal ... had been a lot of flak around for him already, is just about to get worse

and they've loaned out Mart poom so they dont have a solid second choice keeper.

And our defence is decent? Maybe we should give him to Reading?

LOL I knew as soon as I posted it that someone would come up with that reply - suprised it was you Fully !!

I know our defence is complete crap- especially with De Vos in it at the moment IMHO ...but Davis is a decent keeper...and I would welcome him back with open arms , personally speaking ! - no chance I know !!

I'd have him back, Davis was the best keeper in the division on his day last season - that said, we all know he had his weaknesses, and they're being exposed in the premiership.

Yep !...and I wonder how many of Town's points could have been directly attributed to Davis' "one man shows" ?

Watched it on MOTD last night - it really was comical for the 2nd goal - as described on the commentary - Keystone Cops :D

The long range job was just one of those things though.

You could have said Kelvin was a bit far off his line, but to be honest, who would have thought the lad would have had a pop from that sort of distance - and the swerve on it!!!

It was going high and wide as it went over Kelvin, but dipped and swerved viciously right into the top corner

Anyway - the look on his face - probably wishing he was back behind the solid Town defence

Oh come off it, if it had been us who'd been promoted, we'd have done exactly the same thing.

Its a dog eat dog world, and if ITFC can't keep its own players by securing longer term contracts (lets not forget, for Miller for example, the guy wanted a longer term contract last January, but WE wouldnt give him one), and then we fail to get promoted....we can't then hold a grudge against the sides who get up and need players to make a go of it - because when/if we ever go up, we'll do exactly the same thing.

Just shows you what the Premiership is all about really, and the difference between the Championship and the Premiership. I have to say i was a massive fan of Davis last season, and i will always think he is a good all round keeper, but yesterday just makes you think. I think it was quite wrong of the Sunderland fans to boo Davis like that, if you think about it everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect.

I would love him to come back here, but its never gonna happen.

Totally agree, we consistently fail to sight players on longer contracts, we've lost all our players who are capable of premiership play, we're a championship side, and we only have championship players, no premiership quality strikers want to go to a championship team.

IMHO Davis IS a good keeper, however it's all down to that magical thing called "confidence" again...at the moment his confidence is shot to pieces, he's made some mistakes and is also playing in a very poor Premiership team.

Stubbs's defending for the 2nd goal yesterday was nothing short of atrocious, he just headed the ball straight up in the air!

The 3rd goal was a bit freakish really, reminded me of Dean Saunders goal for Aston Villa against us about 10 years back (which sailed over Forrest's, I think it was Forrest anyway, head).

As people have already said Davis is a good shot stopper but his positioning and decision making have always been suspect and that is what is being cruelly exposed at the moment...having said that yesterday seemed to be a day for goalkeepers making absolute howlers (see Van Der Saar, Robinson and Maik Taylor!).

Im not sure what McCarthy can do really, he is a good keeper just very inexperienced at Premiership level and now very low on confidence (you could see that in the way he left the cross for Silvas goal y/day)

They did - on sky sports, Chris Kamara was giving Soccer Saturday the latest score, and in the background you could see the fickle twats already leaving the stadium - Sunderlands fans have always been the same.
