This Season...

Post by ATB » Sat Nov 26, 2005 8:55 pm

I think that besides Reading and Sheff Utd (and even they are looking shakey).. the top 6 will not be possible to pick until the final week or two..

if we win at Cardiff on monday.. we'll only be 4 points outside of top 6, and yet this season has felt absolutely sh*te..
if we lose we'll only be 5 points above relegation zone..

usually by now the season as taken shape, and you can usually tell who the real promotion contenders are.. as things stand we have Watford Luton and Burnley all in the top 6... will they be there at the end of the season?? I don't know.. but i wouldn't bet on them being there..

as for everyone saying that our season is basically already over.. that is absolutely not true.. if we were to go on something as little as a 3 game winning run.. we will be in the top 6..

i've never seen a season like this before!

With all due respect the way we have been playing we will be lucky to win another 3 games this season!
Tbh we are really a poor side this year and if we finish mid-table that will be an achievement.

Well said ATB...

for what it is worth I actually agree with what Essexgirl is saying, this
season lacks everything that is required to get out of a hole.

And FATBOY does not speak for me thats for sure..

Whilst things don't look great, it's far from over and certainly as ATB says, it's far too close to call at the moment. It's not too late for us to get things together and go up the table a bit, and it wouldn't take much for that to happen, but unfortunately there's no signs of that happening.

At least if the league stays so close, IF our form does change, it won't take much to take us up the table, but on the other side of the coin, it won't take much for us to slide into dangerous territory :?

ps. You can count me out from Fatboy's comments too ;-)

Fair response ATB

On the football though, you are right about this being an open league.

But don't hold your breath about us joining the party, we really are poor right now! :(

ATB ...I agree with what you are saying ...this is a very mediocre division al said and done.

Ipswich Town have fallen a helluva long way from OUR Standards...but it is a measure of what this divison is really all about, that (despite being so crap by our standards)..we are STILL within touching distance of a top six place - yet also as easily in touch with the bottom three places ! - good old mid table itis IMHO.

IMHO the only side with true class this season are Reading . It wouldnt suprise me to see Sheffield Utd blow it.

If Town can keep away from this ridiculous run of injuries we are having, we might just be able to filed the same team for mre than one game in a row , and allow some semblance of continuity to form. Other than this factor - I think Town will be a mid table finish - but with the quality of this current squad , we might just pull out all the stops and sneak that final sixth spot - but only if we have an injury free squad.

Though a 3 game winning run looks completely impossible at this point, the team suck, thats the nub of it, and Royle appears to have lost the plot in terms of team selection and tactics.

Those two facts make a 3 game winning streak look more than a tall order, and make the only likely direction to be down.

One big thing missing this season, which we had loads of last season, is confidence....if we can get a bit of confidence, along with some luck....anything could happen...Im certaintly not writing us off yet, even wev been crap at times this year..

Its fans like you that make me ashamed to be an Ipswich fan.

I'd rather have 1 Ipswich Town supporting ATB in "Ozzy land" than 50 million idiots like you.

Now behave!

he was expressing his opinion.....

fully agree though ATB , win a couple of games and we can b up the table like that, atm no it doesn't look like it will happen, but at the end of the day you can't tell in this division. THe team atm just lacking in confidence, and the strange formation and long ball tactics.
onwards and upwards . . . .i hope

yeah agree wasn't THAT an idiotic of a reply tbh.....The same thing always ahppens people moan one minute then start to harp on about hwo we can get into the play offs. M,ost people before the start of the season expected midtable and that si where we are so why is everyone unhappy? simply because evrn though we wont admit it ppl ha dthe expectations of the play offs and decent passing football, neither has happened, and if things throughout the club continue asthey are it wont happen again for a while yet!
