Team of 2000 to Return

Post by Riviera » Tue Dec 06, 2005 1:04 pm

Richard Naylor is planning to reunite Town's 2000 promotion-winning side for his testimonial match. Naylor says several people have suggested the victorious play-off side should take on the current team on his big day.

Naylor said: "A number of people have suggested we bring the promotion-winning side back to Portman Road. I am still in touch with most of the players and it is something that could well work out. It would be great if it could.

"Much might depend on the date and it looks as though it might be next season before the match can be played.

"Playing at Wembley against Barnsley and scoring one of the goals has to be one of the highlights of my career."

Another possibility for the testimonial match is a visit from SPL leaders Celtic.

Fair play to Bam Bam - I have been critical of him in the past but he stuck by us when I am sure he have moved on. Must be a 1st name on the team sheet and is improved for the past few seasons!!!

Here is hoping that whoever he plays he has a good day!!

If he does get the whole team of 2000 together. Should we
get the troops in to keep them hostage there to play in our
normal league games.

I'd love to see that and relive a day like that again - the only thing that topped that day was the birth of Jake
