What are you listening to?

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

I went to see Prince last night

I always admired his ability but was never that big a fan of some of his songs, to be honest, as they weren't really my sort of thing back then. The gig (at the O2) was pretty good - he puts on quite a show - but I wouldn't want to have been sitting in the upper tiers, with my binnoculars out.

The after-party, on the other hand, in a club/bar area also at the O2(The Indigo) that is smaller than the Astoria, was absolutely blinding! They didn't open the doors until around midnight. But Prince and his band then played nearly two hours. A lot of the time, he was playing guitar (a la Hendrix) and singing backing vocals, before taking over the mic again towards the end of the set. It was much rawer and obviously so much more intimate than the main gig. Superb musicians playing a wide variety of great stuff (including covers, classics and some of his oldest songs), with a living legend only feet away from you on stage.

I strongly recommend anybody living near by to go. The tickets (standing downstairs) for the after party cost £25. They are a bit of a gamble as there's no guarantee Prince himself will appear but I'd imagine his band would still be great. I'd avoid going on a day when he's playing the next day and I'd be pretty sure he'll play on the last night of the "residency". Even if they look as though they're sold out, it should be possible to pick some up for face value, either before or at the event. I only got my tickets for last night on Tuesday.

Sorry if this all sounds like spamming. I obviously don't have any financial interest in the O2 or Prince, just recommending a good night out!
