Re: Next Seasons Top 10
Not always in favor of the format of the play-offs. I believe they should simply have the top three promoted and whoever finishes fourth and below simply misses out. Taking into consideration our lousy record in the play-off games going back to say 1997, and whoever finishes in the top three just about deserves a promotion. Not really fair when a team who finishes in third place goes into the play-off games and gets beat by a team who finishes in sixth, who subsequently obtains a place in the EPL at their expense.
Believe we may ourselves have experienced such a situation at some time or another.

Agree. Unfortunately money dictates these days. How about the team that finishes 3rd bottom in the PL plays the team 3rd top in the Championship. 2 leg home and away format?

that used to happen
Re: Next Seasons Top 10
When? I do not remember that. I think it is better than the 6th placed team going up.

Re: Next Seasons Top 10
During the first two stagings of the play-offs in 1987 and 1988, the four teams involved were the three clubs that finished directly below the automatic promotions positions, plus the club which finished directly above the automatic relegation places in the division above.morph wrote:When? Re: Next Seasons Top 10
So the 3rd top didn't just play the 3rd bottom? Lets say Sunderland finish 18th this coming season and Ipswich finish 3rd in the Championship. Those 2 sides should then play 1 home and 1 away matches to decide who plays in the PL the following season. I think that is a fairer system than a team finishing 6th ( Maybe 15 points behind 3rd ) and going up.

i disagree we all know the rules and enjoy the stress and tension of the play off system and it keeps the season alive for a lot longer for many teamsmorph wrote:So the 3rd top didn't just play the 3rd bottom? Re: Next Seasons Top 10
You need to look at your predictions for next season. You have QPR winning the Championship? As they are a PL team this season, that might be a little bit difficult. Just saying.

Many Thanks. Great site by the way. I was on that other waste of space site for a while, but it is full of a load of dead heads. They are an embarrassment to this great club of ours. It was more like being on facemag or something. I wasn't banned by the way.

Morphena, I'll not make you laugh more than Bluemike makes me laugh. Must be the sarcastic (but funny with it) champion of Suffolk!

Hi morph not a bad one mate and though it would be a dream come true do you really expect the yellow peril to not even mak the top 10?

Re: Next Seasons Top 10
I expect them to, but I cannot put them in. I think they will struggle with their managers lack of experience and hope that their players still think they are to good for this league. Thinking maybe top 6, but hoping for bottom 3.
