Re: derby fan's view
Let's have a hypothetical situation. Bluemike and Ohio are a married gay couple who have adopted a child.
CALM DOWN...... Let me finish.....
The child isn't doing well at school and both are summoned to the headmasters office.
HM: I think the child isn't going to pass the exams. I can only see failure.
BM & OHIO: Well I'm fairly sure many others will fail.
HM: So what? Aren't you only concerned about your own child?
That's the only situation I can use to show that i was speaking purely from an ITFC angle.
Right, Mike....., come on, get Ohio's trousers pressed, he's got an early start at the office in the morning.

Re: derby fan's view
Its interesting this perception of us as being one of a long ball, bunch of heavy weight sluggers. What a load of cobblers.
Heavy weights: Bishop, Tabb, Hunt, McG, Scuse....none of them would make a decent meal for a canable.
Sluggers: again above players tend to keep the ball well, and often pass teams off the park. But can mix it up and get stuck (by which I mean, get in oppoenets faces early, close them down, deny them space ).
Hoof ball: really? Well i suppose if you class the Mings 45 yard, pin point PASS to McG who controlled it with one touch before beating two Charlton defenders to set up N. Hunts goal......or McG's cross pitch 35 yard pass to Murphy to run at their defence last night, hoofball, then I'll have more of that thanks.
Our ability to pressurise teams by pressing high the pitch is what gives us the set plays .....eg corners by the bucket load, and free kicks from desperste lunging tackles by stressed defenders. Last night McG hit the woodwork 3 times. Our defenders get on the end of very decent crosses and the law of averages means tge number if corners won will result in a goal at some point.
nah, these managers are convienetly using this false image of Mick McCarthys style of football as an excuse for their failngs to deal with the high work ethic his teams have and no little skill. We have the meanest defence and the divisions top striker.... conveniently forgotten by opposition fans and managers.
"Do I look bovvered"?...... not a bit of it.nim loving Mick the magician and his style of play. We at last have our Club back , and a team to be proud. No my comment to the doubters is,
MIND THE GAP........ Its now 10 points better than a self proclaimed "dead cert promotion" outfit up the roood. Yer avin a laugh? Too right I am

thanks for that, last game i went to was the budgie one and i had been a little worried by the constant 'long ball' 'mick mccarthy style' talk from other managers and fans.hallamblue wrote:Its interesting this perception of us as being one of a long ball, bunch of heavy weight sluggers. Re: derby fan's view
You're welcome. Trust me, all this talk of long ball game and physical play is complete and utter bollocks.
In fact the worst team thuggery ive seen this season was from Watford, who systematically targeted Joniesta. Poor sod has since been out of the game for 2 months.

Re: derby fan's view
Funny how all these fans calling us 'hoofball', are in fact fans of teams below us in the league! Personally, I love an end to end pass to create a counter attack. And I've always loved the 'headed' goal from set plays. All this tiki-taki possession football is pretty on the eye, but if you don't score it really doesn't matter. Sure there should be some nice one touch passing from time to time, but at the end of the day it's really about putting the ball in the back of the net! I'd much prefer to be a fan of big, physical teams that win, rather than a diminutive, Arsenal-like team that struggles to put together a string of results. I love seeing Chelsea standing next to other teams in the tunnel before a match...Maureen's boys look fkn huge compared to most teams!
*Just for clarity, no Marko I'm not comparing Ipswich to Chelsea...

If we were playing hoofball, we wouldn't be second in the bloody league. We know this from past experience.
