What a cocky up that was.

A def pen missed at one end and a blunder from a long ball clearance at the other.

Tommy Smith to score an equaliser... what odds for that I wonder but I'm pretty sure he'll try hard as hell to make amends.

Not that overly impressed with us so far to be honest, that goal has rattled us, midfield seems a bit unsure at the mo.

Town look rattled by the injustice of going behind and need to settle down.

We also need to get tight on Will Hughes in the Derby midfield.

What that was a f*ck up.

I still don't see how that was a penalty though. Even being shown the reply by sky a thousand times still don't seem clear to me.

Anyway, it's all uphill now we have to take the game to them.

No point lying about it, we were completely off the boil today.

Time to regroup and start again. No reason why this should affect any confidence.

An absolute farce of a football match. Two awful teams and a f**king dreadful referee. For all of their possession, Derby did p*ss all with it until we decided to just throw the 3 points at them and go home. We were bad, but I maintain that the referee ruined the game for us. Eustace being sent off in the first half and the clear penalty would have changed the game entirely, but instead the ref decided to do whatever he could to keep Derby in possession.

God I'm pissed off.

Thought we never really got going, just one off game hopefully, bit off extra practise boys and roll on next game. Just really annoying losing to a stupid defensive error, come on boys!!

He was already on a yellow card when he deliberately took out McGoldrick off the ball, McGoldrick reacted and got booked and Eustace got away without even a talking to.

Although it would have been harsh he could easily have received a second yellow card for taking McGoldrick out just before half time in the incident which saw McGoldrick booked for retaliation.

Oh that? Hmmmm maybe. Although I feel that's clutching a bit. Hyam could have been booked earlier for dragging someone down. As could others.

Ultimately for me, we tried to hoof it (something we have apparently not been doing) in windy conditions, against a side that are known for their ability to come back in force.

That and a schoolboy error at the back.

The incident on it's own wouldn't have warranted a second yellow, but if McGoldrick got a yellow for what he did then so should have Eustace.

We gave them far too much space in midfield where Wil Hughes was allowed to dominate, no surprise he was awarded the "Man of the Match" award.

I never like to see the whole of a midfield replaced especially when it's over as short a period as 10 mins which disrupts the flow of play.

I'm not a great Cole Scuse fan but I think we missed him today particularly in the first half when Derby had so much of the play, I just think Scuse would have broken up a lot of their possession.

It was poor judgement by Tommy Smith which was a shame because other than that mistake he looked pretty solid.

Poor performance all round, scrappy first half from both sides. We woke up after sending off. I Went to saints game & you certainly notice the difference in referees. No need to panic, long way still to go. i would bite your hand off If someone said " 10th jan ipswich were third"

Sitting in a freezing cold Easter Rd Stadium but feel compelled to speak......., Stick to your guns, J4CK, you are 100% correct. The Eustace barge on DM was a yellow card offence, he should've received it, making it the second, and then sent off. Very unfortunate that DM reacted the way he did. Maybe something MM can sort.

And again , agreed...... The ref was a fking clueless c*nt.

But on both performances, a draw would've been fairer. And unlucky TS, apart from that unbelievable piece of woeful defending, (seriously, what were you trying to do?) you played a decent, solid game.

Allow me to clarify, I'm not knocking Smith. Yes I said it was schoolboy, I stand by that, but aside from one clusterf*ck the back four never looked like conceding.

I'm also by no means going into meltdown like some on other sites. We were certainly not outclassed, we have certainly not choked and we have certainly not made millwall the biggest game of the season.

Start of the season I think any of us would have taken 6th place come the 10th January. In fact, I think most would have taken a couple points off of sixth as a good place to start for the final run in. We are well exceeding that.

We have have has an off day. We can look all around for the reasons and blame someone else. Be it the ref, eustace, the handball and so on.

It didn't work for us today. We pick up, regroup, remould and go again.

I feel sorry for the Fortuna crew, travel all the way from Germany to watch a performance as poor as it was today.

Disappointing, but certainly not terminal. Key for me was midfield; our two in the middle were overwhelmed by Derby's three, whilst Tabb and Anderson had only limited offensive impact. MM does have numerical MF options, but we perhaps need more attacking quality over what we currently have.

S'tton aside, a positive and determined reaction against Milwall will get us back on track. No need to panic (Mr Mainwaring!)

Well it had to happen sooner or later and I was expecting it today, however I was not expecting to have to play against the ref for long spells too, I hate using the ref as an excuse because at the end of the day we conceded because Smith cannot, and never has been able to defend a bouncing ball. The thing that is so frustrating is that not long before we should have had the most clear cut penalty you will ever see for handball, cant believe he didnt give it and it changed the course of the game.

The game as a whole was decent enough but we have played much much better in recent weeks, particularly the midfield where for me we lost the battle today, of course they had the extra man in the middle throughout and for me Hyam & Bishop just didnt get into the game today, we surrendered possession far too often and there were far too many passes that went astray which was very uncharacteristic for us.

I still felt we had the lions share of the chances and their keeper was the busier but it certainly wasnt emphatic, had the early chance gone in we would have grew in confidence but Tabby couldnt beat the keeper. We have to remember we were playing a quality side and again there was nothing in it. Now is the time to see how we bounce back and I think we will be fine, we are still in a great position and very much all to play for.

As you say Mike, it had to happen and it's not a bad thing that it happened against a top team rather than one from the bottom of the table.
