Tyrone Mings - Time to cash in?

I've been thinking this for a long time now, but if someone is prepared to offer £5 million for this lad. We need to take it.

He may have the ability to become very good, but right now he's one of the last on the team sheet on form. I know I'm going to get slated for this, but for a lad who's got pace and strength, it's so frustrating when he fails to try and take players on.

With 5 million in the bank, that gets us 3 top players which you would think would help secure promotion.

Disagree with this I'm afraid that would be very poor business considering the figure of £10 million has been banded about. Also if we get promoted we are going to need are best players.

Totally disagree with this...............................

1, we need to keep our best players
2, As Derick has said we've heard amounts twice that size, and top premier clubs are watching him IE: Chelsea and Arsenal
3, if we get promoted, we won't need vasts amounts of money as being in the prem generates money.
4, We've got money to spend, its just MM and ME now use money wisely rather than throw it around, we've only spent 10k and look where we are, admittedly we've paid fee's that are undisclosed, but lets face it for the money thats been spent, we are doing very well

Let me ask you, do you honestly think he is worth £10 million?? or do you think the fact there is a lot of hype means he is worth £10 million.

I've seen him a lot this season and he is not at Cresswell's level which we got 1/3 of the figure you are speaking of.

Put jt this way . Evans has a price in his head. It could be £10 -15 or 20m. We dont have to sell. Evans has already issued a statement to agents, dont waste your time. Players are not for sale, other than at silly prices.

So what a player is worth , is irrelevant. It is what a club us willing to pay us, ie meets Evans valuation. Dont meet it. Won't sell. ..dont need to sell. Leicester didnt meet Evans valuation for McG. No sale.


I've watched Mings since he made his 1st team debut at Reading, and is BETTER than Cresswell, although not as experienced. He will be England's LB or CB in not too distant future. Put your house it.

It's quite annoying when people declare anything against the grain as 'Wind up thread'. It makes you sound very narrow minded.

Difference of opinions then I take it. I said £5 million, because I assumed the 10 million price tag was fabricated by the media to get the extra hype around him.

Personally, I just really don't seem him as a player even close to 5 million, let alone 10 million.

As for Connor Wickham, they are both the same age so what's to stop Wickham continuing to develop. I'd be interested to know how you feel a premiership side can't develop a player as well as a championship side.

All I'm saying is, losing Mings won't cost us the league. Getting £10 million to spend will certainly help buy us the league.

Dont take it to heart toby, we all have different point of veiws on here which makes it so interesting. I think most people are saying that we need to keep the likes of mings and bishop. Granted 10 million would be a help but i very much doubt it would buy us the league. Look at the squads Norwich , Fulham etc have and their wage bills to go with , it goes to show that money does not buy the championship. Also if mings is worth 10 million as a future prospect, how much would we need to shell out to replace him with the real deal, including the over inflated wage packet that would be demanded. We dont need to sell at the moment so i say keep every bit of talent we have and push on for promotion and the windfall that goes with it. For too many years our young talent has been snatched away. Dyer, dozzell, r.wright etc have all gone.If we can keep this side and gain promotion, we have 2 class youngsters that perhaps will be a part of a growing itfc in the prem for a few good years to come. One other thing, the money we paid for mings shows that it can be done without lots of money, good scouting, coaching and managing are equallt important and MM and co are doing a grand job in nurturing this squad. Any so called big names coming in at this point would upset the balance of the team and do more damage, we have seen that in the past.

Money always talks doesn't it. Whether a player is actually worth the fees paid is another matter entirely. And i think we all know the answer to that one anyway. Its like groundhog day where these young talents/prospects are concerned. They come, they go. Some do great, others fade into oblivion , albeit milionaires in the process.

As ive watched the game for eons now, slightly more grayer hairs than i like to admit. Ive finally got to the point where i accept that players will always move on.What i now expect is that Town will get THEIR price or as near as damn it, for these players that we have often developed.

For many years this has not been the case at Ipswich, often very good players being simply allowed to leave for dirt cheep fees, or under market value. Evans at least appears to have got a grasp of this and is saying , not for sale, unless you offer us what we want. Is any player worth the fees demanded? Of course not. But Evans is going to make these PL clubs or well off Championship clubs pay through the bloody nose if they want our players.

If /When the likes of Mings or Bishop leaves, it will be largely on our terms. But tge plzyers in question should note previous good players that have left for the promised land, often with far fatter bank balances, but invariably splinters in their arse and boots still in the locker!

Just think, in this particular season, where the club are where they are, they need to hold on to Mings on that left hand side of the park. It's actually "a must", in my opinion.
