'Boo Me Not My Players" - MM

Post by herforder » Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:11 pm

Comment by MM in today's local Star.

Anyone else find it totally bizarre that, sitting 4th in the C'ship and still in a sound position to make the play-offs, that he needs to make such a comment?

I guess this endorses the comment Bluemike made yesterday about our sh*te home support at Portman Road.

I find it quite embarrassing as in my season ticket days Portman Road used to really rock especially for matches played under floodlights.

Those were the days.

Instead of moaning about the boo-ers, eradicate it. Start a "Nut a booer" campaign. If you are standing next to one, its on you to sort it out. Get a few hundred involved, job done.

I am joking of course......, but I know how difficult it is to stay quiet when there is a fkn arsehole mouthing off near you.

Or better still stick all the chances in the back of the net, stops the booing and keeps us all happy!

Make that third.

I think McCarthy is in his right to make such a statement. He picks the team to put out, chooses what formations to use etc so if things aren't going as planned, invariably the fall of responsibility lies with the manager. Supporters pay their money, and if they aren't getting value for that money, then some would argue they're entitled to a little backlash.

The budgies are coming up on March 1. As you can tell, I have been around here for 5 years now and I can say that this match is the biggest one since I have joined here. The reason I can say that is because the matches in May to decide whether we get automatic promotion or are in the playoffs aren't here yet. The only matches I can think of that were as big as this one are the ones under RK to try to avoid relegation. Remember the blizzard game we were so happy to have played because we desperately needed the three points? Add to that, there was not going to be any big games the last year of PJ, because if MM hadnt been hired we most assuredly would have been relegated.

And people boo this?

Accept that's a frequently stated opinion, which of course folk are entitled to hold. Cannot see, however, that booing anyone - manager or players - is likely to improve their performances, on or off the pitch! Is that true support?

I don't know whether it is a football thing in general but as I have said on several occasions, Ipswich fans do my head in with the way they switch moods, going up one minute, the players are crap the next. At Fulham it was "Norwich City We're coming for you" against Reading it was booing, last night back to the "Coming for you" mentality, I can't stand the fickleness to be perfectly honest. Booing is not acceptable under any circumstances as far as I am concerned.
