Agree with you. That's the first timd he's looked remotely like the videos of his goalkeeping performances since he's joined us, ie unbelievably saves. There were 2 world class saves in the second half from memory. Long may that continue!

Cannot pin blame on anyone for the KJones goal, he was always scoring that......, but does anyone else on the TBforum think Smith was "Solid" in the game? Honestly not trying to continually jump on his case, but holy Shyte, that laddie looks wary with every forward move from the opposition.
...,and me! Someone on twtd claim he was at fault for the goal. But KJ is a man mountain and is so athletic there was only ever going to be one winner in that dual. I just thank god they didnt bring him on earlier.

It had to be, Hallam. Otherwise I would never have let Berry Jambo live it down.

Re: Ipswich Town vs AFC Bournemouth Match Preview
Really gutted today as we were really close but to be frank I don't think we deserved to win. The draw was a fair reflection of the game. They were all over us in 1st half whereas the 2nd one was 50/50 since Chaplow arrival.
Bournemouth play good, passing football but they have confirmed their reputation of horrible divers. Pitman and particularly Wilson were just embarrassing. That issue had been well known before the game so it was nothing new today. Very disgusting and why their manager keeps tolerating these antics I don't know.
Loads of Bournemouth fans had been really cocky but in fairness some part of them seems embarrassed with their own players' actions. Here below there are a few quotes from their forum:
'Getting hard to defend us now tbh. Falling over all over the pitch; its unsavoury and makes us look desperate'
'Both Pitman and Wilson went down with no contact and appealed for penalties. Is that cheating? Or didn't they do that?'
'Agree...we are cheating too much!'
'Wilson's drop was terrible, nothing to do with pace there'
'It's embarrassing quite frankly'
'...no one on here can defend our diving tactics......Howe needs to have a word with a few of them....otherwise we might not get a legitimate decision next time we need it!'
'that was fooking embarrassing at times...Eddie needs to sort it out'
'In my opinion Callum's better on his feet than on his arse... '
-------------------------------
Though gutted with having failed to win I can't say there was much wrong with our team. Players seem to be bothered, seem wanting to play for the shirt that wasn't the case during Magilton, Keane and Jewell times. They give us everything and long may it continue.
Really impressed with Bialkowski as much as I was disappointed with his performance at Leeds. Dare to say had it not been for him we would have lost today.
As for Varney and Chaplow it's obvious to see they play for their futures. Varney really good performance today and grafting all the time whereas we got much better since Chaplow arrival in the 2nd half. Sign them both up? Probably yes as they seem to be giving their all.
Berra absolutely immense at the back and Fryers had a decent debut therefore I can't say we missed Mings.
Murphy was a bit disappointing but let's not forget he had an assist with Sears' goal. The latter had a good game again and proves to be a bargain.
Seems as if our chances of reaching top 2 are going but let's see what happens if we beat Huddersfield, Blackpool and Cardiff. 7-9 points might still give us a chance but for me personally securing top 6 place is vital. To finish outside of it would be hugely upsetting.

Both teams trying to play to their strengths, as a means of managing their limitations. A draw, therefore, probably the right outcome. But special praise goes to Bart, for some truly outstanding work - particularly that chance at the death. Right behind that goal, and it really was a miraculous stop!
Thought that Bmth looked vulnerable when put under pressure, particularly in the first 20 mins or so. Sadly, we didn't/couldn't do that anything like enough, and our inability to play out from the back, and to hold/create from midfield, remains an area for concern. But we were playing a good standard - albeit quick to cheat - team, whose midfield and wide players were technically superior to ours on the day.
BUT there were real positives to be gained: everyone gave the max, worked their ar@ses off, and left nothing on the pitch. In addition to Bart, some great individual performances - eg Varney. With players available to come in, notably Williams and Didsy, MM has quality options available for the remaining 6 games. We're still very much in the mix and, although by no means a cert, adding a tad more creative quality to yesterday's performance should make 3 points on Monday a real possibility. One game at a time, as the old cliche goes.

Very true.
I think we have a team at long last that we can have faith in and trust that they want to play for the Club. Ive not known the bond between fans and players to be as strong since the Burley team.
Whatever happens this season we can be proud of our team and know that next season will be even better, whatever division we are in.

First game I ever got to watch on my own TV and let me tell you, that was a nerve racking experience! Town really parked the bus after the goal and weathered the storm valiantly. Really thought we had it won when Varney went in on the keeper but credit to him for the save. I was really hoping someone would put a boot upside Wilson's face, the diving little prissy punk.
All in all, a fine effort from the boys, they should alot of effort and heart throughout the game and personally a fine day of watching Championship League action. Searching beIN sports for the next Ipswich game.

My son was saying he hoped Bart tried to clear the ball and missed it and caught Wilson in the face with his boot!Ohiotractorboy wrote:First game I ever got to watch on my own TV and let me tell you, that was a nerve racking experience! He also said.............................
"when a butterfly bats its wings in china, a Bournemouth player falls over"
I just wished that the butterflies in China could have all stopped batting their wings yesterday!

Ha, that is an apt way to put it KL! Especially after Chambo went through the effort to jump over Wilson and Wilson gets up and nudges him with the shoulder and hit him with his purse. I was yelling for him to throw an elbow into the ribs.

Trust me, it is a whole lot easier following the game as people post "oooohs" and "yeaaahs" so all I do is say, "What happened?" I was literally standing for about 50 of the 90 minutes in the middle of my living room! When (cant remember who) kicked the ball out to give them their last corner in stoppage, I covered my face and said, "Oh my God." My daughter looked at me and said, "Dad, maybe you should get another beer."

I am praying for a playoff game. That will be awesome.

Re: Ipswich Town vs AFC Bournemouth Match Preview
You're right. Are our nerves going to hold out until end of season. First we may have to navigate the minefield that is the two game play-off and then after that a possible trip to Wembley (not to mention having to win the main event). There's so many if's and but's ahead in the next few weeks including McCarthy himself that no-one can have any idea where it will all settle. Guess we'll just concentrate on the first task in hand that is ensuring we actually finish in a top six place to even qualify for the above and take it from there. It's not good for the old nerves for sure but there's other teams up there with us who will experience the very same.
Someone's going to miss out, someone's going to be disappointed, and there will be tears before the end of it all, but that's just the way it is, the way it has always been.
