That may be, but you seem to forget in january this year, we were 2nd and bournmouth top, ten points ahead of norwich who now sit in that same position and now 8 points ahead of us and bournmouth are still top. Judge him on the present not the past. The present just aint up to it. 18th in form table, 8 pts from 24. Hes been found out. Our friends in norfolk stopped the rot and are now flying with the same squad. Sorry to upset the loyal MM fans but questions need asking. And again i will say i cant say ive sat at any game and thought we look the real deal. Were punching above our weight this season and have run out of steam.derick_ipsw wrote:Granted he got it wrong today but you seem to forget we were 6pts adrift from safety at the bottom of the league when he took over!!ipswichtownNo1 wrote:Wolves now 3-1 up. From being in a great position in january, too many loan signings have upset the balance and the stubborn man he is will be intent on playing them. I can say hand on heart that i have not been impressed with many town performances this season dispite our position. Team selection is so irrational IMO and as for tactics, i never see anything apart from hoofball to 3 strikers. Sign or play a decent RB, f@ck smith off out of the team and get some pace and skill in the midfield to feed murphy and sears. Pi$$ off craplow and dead wood and co. Get the best team on the park week in and week out and use your tactical know how to get results rather than changing players and hoping for the best MM. No one to blame but him, he picks the team, buck stops there. I cant wait to hear his opinion of todays game, no doubt it will be another load of tosh about this league is bonkers and town are doing great.

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
And that's Mick's fault? Maybe Norwich are doing so well because they had a good team to begin with and were vastly underachieving before, nothing like us in the slightest. Why do questions need to be asked? We're still performing above expectations, it's not his fault those expectations have been stupidly exaggerated over the season. If we don't make the playoffs it isn't the end of the bloody world, we'll just try again next season. The past is entirely relevant when it's the same season and you would have been singing his praises a few months ago, but the going is now tough and you just want to throw him under the bus and try again with some nobody who'd do an even worse job? Good luck.ipswichtownNo1 wrote:That may be, but you seem to forget in january this year, we were 2nd and bournmouth top, ten points ahead of norwich who now sit in that same position and now 8 points ahead of us and bournmouth are still top. Not getting involved with that type of argument.........., but why did Mick start Chaplow and Wood over Sears and Bishop, J4CK?

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
Just got back from the game and feel very very disappointed. The first half was awful, first goal a mistake by fryers giving the ball away easily and Wells finishing the move off with a neat finish.
Second goal was from a cross to the far post to Vaughan who was in yards of space and had time to pick his spot with a free header.
second half started much better with varney getting his first goal for town, and we all thought game on.but after this we created very little although bishop made a big difference in midfield, and sears never stopped running, why didn't he start I ask myself.
overall a disappointing display and not good enough to get in the play offs on this performance. Still could be worse I only had a 70 minute drive home unlike some of the poor souls from ipswich.

He didnt just get it wrong today, he has got it wrong on more than one occasion. Last time he decided to rest players and change the lineup, ie starting wood and varney in place of murphy and sears we lost and he publicly said blame him, i pick the team. So why did he not learn from that and start his best team. Leaving sears and bishop out is just plain daft i think. I dont want to throw him under a bus, but for me i dont like the style of play he offers, ie 3 lumps up front and hoof it. Disjointed out of position players, sticking with out of form players. Just one more thing, norwich were underachieving but a new manager has sparked them into life, maybe the same could happen here is all im saying.

Not sure the abject overall performance, particularly in the 1st half, was just down to MM's team selection. The quality gap between those who started, and those on the bench, was not so great as to explain the implosion following Fryer's unforced error. When the changes were eventually made, nothing changed! Route 1 all day long, no variation, no real invention, no credible threat.
Of concern, for me, is how fine the line is between us being a hard-working, competent, team, making the most of the available - albeit limited - talent available, against one that is capable of producing the sort of sub-standard display we witnessed today. In truth, everyone connected with the club - owner, management and players - need to accept responsibility for what occurred. The ramifications extend further than just this afternoon's performance.

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
There hasnt been many times this season when I have felt let down by the Town players but today was one of those days, just too many players having off days. Add to that the baffling starting line up which for me was bloody stupid, Wood in for Sears ??? Do me a favour please, when Wood plays Murphy is just not thesame player either, they just don't go together. By the way don't knock Chaplows inclusion because as Mach rightly says Chappers and Varney were head and tail above the rest today, in fact mach has summed it up perfectly in his report.
Defensively we were a joke today, Chambers & Berra all over the show and Nahki Wells had a field day against them while Fryers looked awful, if he is worth 5 million then Mings really is worth 10. Our passing was abject at best, Tabb gave the ball away time after time after time while Skuse had his poorest game for some time. I just don't get MM's decision to take Chaplow off and keep Tabb on, it was bollocks, I thought I had seen a glimmer of hope regarding Wood at Watford but having seen him today he could well go down as being the biggest pile of sh*te to wear the Town shirt for many years, I have seen oil tankers turn quicker than him, hopeless.
I would have taken a point today with Two home games coming up but it was not to be, Huddersfiedl thoroughly deserved their win and wanted it more, these Two home games are must win, no iffs or buts, it is getting to last chance saloon now. Where everything was right at Watford from the team selection through to the substitutions the reverse can be said today, everything was wrong and MM has to take some of the responsibility although he can't account for basic errors like the Fryers c*ck up for the opening goal which put us on the back foot after a comfortable opening period, we were our own worst enemies today.

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
Fair enough; but Chaplow was probably one of the better starters today; his replacement (Bishop) had little impact and gave the ball away on numerous occasions. Similarly, Sears - a very different animal than Wood - was not as effective as he was against Bmth, whilst Williams is clearly not match fit yet. But it was ultimately a poor team performance.marko69 wrote:Sorry buddy, but I disagree with the bold part.herforder wrote:Not sure the abject overall performance, particularly in the 1st half, was just down to MM's team selection. Sears & Bishop would've arguably played much better had they been rightly put on from the start.
It's all hypothetical i suppose.

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
Our biggest problem has been the same all season, the lack of a regular second goal scorer to support Murphy's effort.
How can we get to this stage of the season and our second best goal scorer is McGoldrick with 7.
I think this really highlights our weakness.

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
MM made a tactical error when played Wood and Murphy up front together. Very slow and immobile. Sears made a difference when he came on but by then the damage was done. The Palace player at left back looks well out of his depth frankly and if he's cost Palace £5m then God knows what Mings is worth!
Town looked lethargic and heavy legged as soon as we gifted them the first goal. But even though we gave a soft goal twice I'm asking myself why didn't the keeper do better?
Personally I've written off PO's now our small squad has run out of steam and I for one am looking to see who we will bring in over the summer to continue with the squad progression. As for McG so absence today. Well I think we can safely say that's the last we will see of him in a Town shirt. Some have even suggested that a deal has already been agreed. I just hope it doesn't mean Wood coming in in exchange.

Sadly I think Mick has taken us as far as possible, and we need someone like Warburton to take over the reigns with some better passing and attacking football, he's Been a credit to Brentford with their flare and attacking style similar to Bournemouth, I think most of us are pissed off with hoof ball, as it's never been the Ipswich style over the years, and it's bloody awful to watch and pay for, so thanks MM for getting us this far, but please take the Fulham job if it's offered, and we can take the next step forward I hope.
Oh just in case you think this rant is just on today's result it's not, we just might beat Blackpool, but not Cardiff Wolves or Blackburn on this showing, when it's been blatantly clear for ages he's losing the plot in team selection sorry Mick it's foxtrot Oscar I'm afraid

From all the teams positioned 12th down to 20th we've drawn 3 and lost 5 away from home. We need to get better at lifting our game in these games.
I've been so positive all season, but today I've got to the stage of Feeling like "it's a bunch of blokes trying to kick a ball in a goal for 90 minutes" think that means I'm disheartened.
We still have a chance. But the season has slowly slipped away since the derby game.
I think we're making progress, but I've semi started thinking about next season now too.
Win the next 2 and the season is still alive, but it's a really big ask. We're still in with a shout though and we still have Wolves to play.
Yes I would take Norwich in the play off semis right now.

sadly Jonno as it's progressing now Wolves would have a field day with a glut of goals, when someone can't put round pegs in round holes on selections, then I think they are 3 bricks short of a stack, as around 20,000 fans know what the line up should be, so forget this season now and wait with baited breath as to who turns out next season, I can promise one thing it won't be the same team as this season, all our proposed good players will be gone fact.JonnoTown wrote:From all the teams positioned 12th down to 20th we've drawn 3 and lost 5 away from home. Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
There could be a scenario like in last season's EPL when Liverpool looked home and dry for the League Championship, and somehow made such a mess of things that in the end the top prize went to Manchester. Something that not many would have envisaged some four or five games from the end of season.
Point being, anything can happen regardless of what league or division it occurs in. Yes we've made things hard for ourselves but all is not lost. As someone said I'd also take meeting Norwich in a play-off scenario. It was a possibility that didn't bear thinking about in the recent past but after all the hard work and promise, got to salvage something.
I'd rather play and risk get beaten by those fucks, than not play at all.

Re: Huddersfield Town vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
You local supporters will definitely think different, but for me, I couldn't think of anything worse than meeting Norwich in the play offs. When you actually know your team is playing sh*t, you really must avoid the local rival. YES, anything can happen, and YES is a one off, but they are cliches,...... The quality usually wins.
When the Jambofkrs scored that penalty in the Scottish Cup semi final against Celtic in 2012, every Hibee said, "Aw fk, no!" ...... And every one of us were correct, as history explains.
Ashford; the jags are being dragged in..... But fighting draw at Pittodrie was excellent stuff. The Buddies are gone, And it is close with 'Well, Ross and jags for the play off.
Hibs are just doing what Hibs do. I actually feel sorry for Stubbsy...... His ideas are great, the players just can't implement them at times.
As for those Loons....... Local rivals Brechin done them a huge favour by beating Morton at Cappielow the other day. It's a very interesting league. Fancy Stranraer to come up though, and the 11th place finisher in the championship to see off any league one opposition.

I think, Marko, had he started with Messi and Suarez yesterday, the dire lack of competitiveness, defensive frailties and non-existent midfield wouldn't have stopped Scannel, Vaughan and Wells from making us look like a petrol car that's been filled with diesel!marko69 wrote:Sears & Bishop would've arguably played much better had they been rightly put on from the start.

Anyway, yesterday's gone. Back on the horse: no question that 6 points from next two home games is a non-negotiable minimum. BUT, whilst there's life there's hope

Hmmm! I'm not too sure about that either, Herford.
A few years back, Barcelona brought Messi & 10 other 17 year olds to Murrayfield to play Hibernian. Tanned 6-0. It was so much of a tanning that several Hibs players were going to quit football. Was a good job the Hibs keeper played a blinder because it should've been 23-0.

We'd be slaughtered by Norwich if we met them in the playoffs!! I'd rather just miss out this year than deal with that bloody humiliation! We'd never hear the end of it!

Once again I'd rather take that chance than miss out altogether. Guess we'd never hear the end of it though as they still can't help a reference to Steve Bruce '85 any opportunity they get, but all you need do is give a mention of respective honors lists and accomplishments and they soon crawl back under their stone.number 9 wrote:We'd be slaughtered by Norwich if we met them in the playoffs!! I'll be with Number 9 on this,......., and 9, we will have our baws chewed for it........, but definitely miss the play offs rather than play Norwich in them. YES, please do make the play offs, but let's all hope those fuckers go up automatically.
