Despite what they may say Scum fans

Won't relish playing us in the semi final games.
There has been nothing in it between the two teams in the league bar an offside goal and a wonder strike that could as easily have hit row X.

We will have Carney back in the team now, a real handful and although we lost yesterday we had Blackburn on the back foot for most of second half. How we didn't score four goals - twogames for Sears and Murph in addition to the two we did score, I'll never know. We are a dangerous team when we decide to go for it and the lads will definitely be up for it over these next two games.

They probably think they are at Wembley already such is their cockiness and arrogance so hopefully it will play into our hands this time. We have failed to really turn up both times we met them and it also coincided with Two spells in our season when we werent playing that well, lets hope it's our turn for some good fortune.

I think there's quite a high probability of a Brentford v Town final. For whatever reason the team finishing third often struggle with the play offs, maybe it's because they feel there's been an injustice or maybe they just struggle managing their disappointment whilst the team finishing 6th are usually c*ck a hoop having often scrapped through. I know which position in the table I'd prefer to finish.

Meanwhile Middlesbrough go into the Semi's with only one point from their last two games, whilst Brentford have finished the season with two straight wins and will be full of confidence.

Unlike many fans who wanted to avoid Norwich in the Semis I'd much prefer to play them at this stage than meet them at Wembley, cos if the inevitable were to happen can you imagine what we'd have to put up with for the next 20yrs +, I know we could win too and that would be brilliant, but I just didn't fancy it.

I thought Norwich had been scoring freely but if you look at goals scored since the beginning of January we've both scored 13 apiece, the main difference is goals conceded and that's what McCarthy has to work on over the coming days, especially defending set pieces which we looked very poor at again yesterday.

I know some people dislike the stick dished out at Tommy Smith but he just has to get his feet off the ground when defending, yesterday the ball went over his head as he stood rooted to the ground and allowed Jordon Rhodes (who's an inch shorter) to score with a header.

But we all know who the real culprit was yesterday, it was Freddie Sears who missed so many opportunities to score and I guess as long as we score one more than the opposition it doesn't matter too much.

I think we could be in for a thriller at Portman Road on Saturday with Town winning 3-2 followed by a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.....

Wembley here we come!

I agree with most of your post, Charnwood.

But I see Norwich slightly different as the 3rd place finisher. They never really "fell" to 3rd. They were quite poor at the start of the season. The new man came in and they have basically "rose" to their play off position. Yes they may have teetered at the top for a few hours while other games were being played, but they will be extremely determined over the next two fixtures, ....., just can't imagine they'll be feeling any disappointment at all at this moment in time.

MM & TC have a huge task ahead if they want to see the club at Wembley. Unfortunately, (after seeing some of the defending yesterday) I'm with Saint Jude on this and not confident at all.

Weve beaten better teams than scum this season. I think as long as we dont hoof it to try and put their back four under pressure like we tend to do to opponents, ( it was easy meat to Bassong at their place all afternoon), so we really shouldnt play to their strengths.0, but more to ours. Sears, Bishop, Bru and Varney and if course 27 goal striker, Murphy could cause them serious problems.

I dare say there are plenty if scummers viewing this forum as "guests", one in particular, who lives on here but I doubt she or any of them will have the balls to register as narwich fans and enter into genuine football dialogue about the two up and coming games. Id have more respect for them if they did!

If nerves and psychological advantage count for anything, then I think we will have a real advantage. Interesting to hear Chambo, post-match, suggesting that they may have affected us at some point yesterday. Having secured our spot - despite a patchy display - cannot see us allowing them to kick-in again against the scum. The weight of expectation is on them - let's see how they handle it. We have yesterday's experience to learn from and fall back on, and it might just count for something as the pressure mounts. Critical work for MM/TC on the training ground - but the team-spirit, determination and sheer bloody-mindedness that's got us here over the whole season won't waver.

You may be absolutely spot on, Herforder saying they have yesterday as experience.

The fact that so much was resting on that game, (and they failed) will no doubt be a blessing in disguise for MM & TC. And I actually liked the fact that Chambers knew they'd fkd up......., that will help him get his team more focused for Saturday.

If you look on one of their forums (Not 606 Norwich City) there's a long discussion about it and even one of our own gets involved with a Youtube clip. There are a number of Town supporters also who get to participate so it makes for some colorful reading if you have the time to visit.

Mentioned before that say if these.... get a victory we won't hear the end of it for some time to come. From a personal viewpoint any level of animosity towards the club in question has reduced in recent years but needless to say this would be a very good victory if we can win over two games. I do not expect Brentford to win their respective match-up so if we get through it should be Middlesbrough at the national stadium.

One last time please note that away goals count for nothing in this years play-off event. I would rather be at home for the second leg also.

Away goals have not counted double in the play-offs for years - I think we were the last team to exit play-offs on the away goals rule but that was years ago. And it's always been the case that the teams finishing 3rd and 4th get to play their home legs last. Personally I don't think whether you play your home leg first or last makes any difference at all, as the goal must always be to win your home leg.

i think the tension of a final against the budgies with winner takes all, would have been just too much.
unless the winner of the semi goes on to win promotion it will count for nothing.
i had been thinking that our best chance against them would be in the one-off final but i have recently been persuaded that we will be better off in a 2 game tie.
like fans of both sides i fear defeat but we have a great chance for promotion, lets hope we can get it.

some of us can look back at the texaco cup final, over 2 legs in 1973 - celebrating on the pitch at carrot road after winning the cup is still one of my best memories ever, fingers crossed :D

I see the scum are going to beam back the 1st leg to carrot road and charge their fans £5 but you get a pie and pint.
I wonder if ITFC will do a similar thing for the 2nd leg ?
I can remember them doing it for a match before.
They had big screens on the halfway and filled the cobold stand would be great to be there when we make to the final.

I was definitely on the pitch at the end of the game. Me and my friend were chambering over those wooden seats in that crappy stand to get to Bobby Robson who was holding the Cup up. We were shouting "Bobby, Bobby" we git to within a row of seats from him when turned to face us smiling and then we didn't know what to say lol. The moment was gone. But I'll never forget it.

Went to local pub last night and the City fans are already making plans and arrangements for the final.

There's four Town fans including myself and my oldest son who regally visit the pub. Soon as i walked in though in good humour "We beat the scum 4 nil" Was sang meaning they expect to beat us both times in the play offs.. Bit premature, just love to throw it back back into their faces.

Maybe lot of it is putting on a show, brave face for them. Possibly secretly they are nervous. For me though we are the underdogs, but so what. They are expected not to just beat us but actually go up. Not so much pressure on us then. Time to ruffle those silly budgie feathers, just don't want a repeat of 1985 and Steve Bruce header in last minute :(

No they really ARE arrogant barstards. Always have been.

tbh the biggest thing to them is beating the bigger local rivals. Town on the other hand have a far fried far bigger fish than their tin pot club

They keep the replica of that Milk cup in a trophy cabinet on the main stairs half landing. Quite funny actually..

Walk up first flight of stairs and there it is. Pride and joy. Don't laugh.. (much)

To be honest, I don't think any of the other 3 play-off teams would play us by choice.
Yes, our defending is still shambolic, but despite this we are a tough team to play.
I'm actually pleased that we're playing Naaaarwich in the semis - it's surely our turn to get a result or 2 against them. They will no doubt point to the fact that they have won 5 of the last 6 games between us, and expect to beat us easily. Let them think what they like - come Saturday 16th May they will be crying into their Trill

Say for arguments sake Town didn't exist then who would be their nearest rivals / have a dispute with ?

Cambridge ? Peterborough ? Kings Lynn (do they have a team) ?

Yes guess we have to provide them with something..

We were in the top flight loooong before narrrrwich SJ, and our "derby " game was always considered to be West Ham.

Scum really are a nothing club, they just have the benefit of home based media tv stations to boost their profile. Lets face it, they've won absolutely nothing since they've been a league outfit!
