Town strike pair Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick have been named in a reduced 27-man Republic of Ireland squad for their June internationals against England and Scotland.
Manager Martin O’Neill, who was at Portman Road for the play-off semi-final first leg against Norwich, initially selected a 33-man provisional party from which he has left out Anthony Stokes (Celtic), Adam Rooney (Aberdeen), Simon Cox (Reading), Kevin Doyle (Colorado Rapids), Alan Judge (Brentford) and Anthony Pilkington (Cardiff City).
Murphy, 32, will be looking to add to his 14 caps and to score his first international goal, while McGoldrick, 27, has previously been capped once and will also be looking to open his goals account.
Ireland face England at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday 7th June and Scotland at the same venue on Saturday 13th June. The squad meet up on Monday and face Northern Ireland in a behind-closed-doors friendly, again at the Aviva Stadium, on Thursday.
Former Blues skipper Jon Walters, now with Stoke, is also in the squad, as are one-time academy schoolboy Richard Keogh, currently with Derby, and released Hull City defender Paul McShane, who was linked with Town in this morning’s tabloids.
Murphy and McGoldrick could face their Blues team-mate Christophe Berra in the Scotland game, the centre-half having been named in Gordon Strachan's squad.
Republic of Ireland: David Forde (Millwall), Shay Given (Aston Villa), Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday), Darren Randolph (Birmingham), Richard Keogh (Derby County), Marc Wilson (Stoke City), Seamus Coleman (Everton), Cyrus Christie (Derby County), John O’Shea (Sunderland), Alex Pearce (Reading), Paul McShane (unattached), James McCarthy (Everton), Jeff Hendrick (Derby County), Stephen Ward (Burnley), Harry Arter (Bournemouth), Glenn Whelan (Stoke City), Aiden McGeady (Everton), James McClean (Wigan Athletic), Robbie Brady (Hull City), Stephen Quinn (Hull City), David Meyler (Hull City), Wes Hoolahan (Norwich City), Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy), Shane Long (Southampton), Daryl Murphy (Ipswich Town), Jon Walters (Stoke City), David McGoldrick (Ipswich Town).

Didn't the English play the Scots and Irish in successive games a year or two ago, seem to recall such an instance. The Irish have themselves a good side once again and hope they get the results on the day. I hope Murphy does well once again and adds a little more to his value.

Yes they played Ireland in May 2013 and Scotland in August 2013 at Wembley as part of the FA's 150th anniversary year.
Off to Dublin this weekend for the game and hopefully will see Murphy and McGoldrick make an appearance at some point but on this occasion not get their names on the score sheet.
