Oh dear that's a toughie, God forbid if we were knocked out in the 1st round.
Edit ... Bugger, just realised that's a new preview

Re: League Cup Draw
Nice to have Home game for a change. Our league home record was excellent last season.

Re: League Cup Draw
Favorable draw against a lower league team with home advantage : However believe McCarthy will put little emphasis into this competition as the league will once again take priority.
Last seasons run was disappointing with an early exit to another lower league side and while hoping we can avoid that with this game and go further than before, the manager will have his sights set on bigger achievements.

Re: League Cup Draw
Can see what you mean, some see it as a largely trivial and rebuked competition, but it's still a trophy to shoot for and let's face it, we're unlikely to win the FA Cup so that only leaves this and the league.number 9 wrote:Can we just get rid of this competition?! I'd take promotion to the EPL any day over a win in this competition, but Ipswich have never won it since it's inception in the early 1960s and we've seen in recent years surprise winners such as Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Swansea City etc so why not go for it. Pity is, and as before, McCarthy simply won't put enough emphasis into this competition, will play under strength teams and approach it with a certain level of apathy. He's not alone in that thinking, a number of managers will simply put their attention on greater reward.
