Glass Half Full

Post by barmy billy » Fri Aug 07, 2015 4:12 pm

As a lifelong glass half empty sort of person, I am very happy to report that as I sit here my glass is very definitely half full as regards to ITFC.

I cannot remember the last time I looked forward to a new season with as much enthusiasm as I feel now. MM and ME have done an excellent job over the summer in assembling the squad we now have. I feel it is infinitely stronger than last seasons and I look forward to us finishing in the top six at the very least. There are some bloody strong opposition teams this time around but I have no doubt we will be up there come the end.

Let's all enjoy the ride.

For that sentence alone, really hoping the Town win tomorrow, Barmy. A big win too.

There can be no dispute

With regards this here piece, as for the club alone would be a disappointment if we can't at least obtain a top six finish again especially with a decent attacking line now (expecting Pittman, Sears and Murphy to do well) and can't base evidence on the way ahead because of one opening day calamity - sorry - game.

Hopefully today will be a learning experience for the time ahead - you never accept a game is done until the final blow - and while it could take some time for the new kids to settle in we do have a team set-up now with capabilities and can build on last season's eventual near miss and hopefully get it right this time.

People don't always like it but in any event still not 100 per cent convinced in McCarthy's abilities. Today did nobody any favors and a winning start would have been good for morale. Can only hope the players react quickly in the desired manner and McCarthy addresses the shortcomings of today to the team so that next time brings the warranted reward. Everyone knows you can't forecast a season on the basis of an opening game or indeed a handful of pre-season friendlies but as before we have the ability to do well this time but certain things continue to linger, or seemingly can't be eradicated.
