View from an armchair!

Post by K L Blue » Sat Sep 12, 2015 12:01 pm

having pondered on last nights dreadful performance I thought I'd give my view(from an armchair)

First I have to say WTF Gerkin, Now I see why Bristol City were relegated with Gerkin in goal.
One comment I've read is(and it could have been on this forum) The fans behind the goal moved more than he did. For me He's not 1st choice(this is my opinion)
The back 4 well they all had the moments(and I don't mean good one's either) Knudsen was unlucky with the clearance, but he should have done better, even put it out, but he's young and will learn I suppose. Also what the hell happen in the area for one of the goals? did they all think it would clear itself? and why didn't Gerkin take control?
Now the Midfield, Douglas and Skuse can't play together, both were caught going forward, and both were caught staying back, When we had the ball, one didn't really support, but the times they did, both went forward and we were caught on the break and punished.

Now the forwards, I haven't seen Pitman until last night, but I wasn't really impressed, had a few good touches, but I guess if he hasn't got the support(re:midfield) then he's not going to be that effective, Sears I thought had a fair game, was lucky for the goal, but hey I'll take that every game if needed. Then there was McGoldrick, no doubt this man has talent, but where the hell was the appeals for the pens? the first was a deffo pen, and the second at least make the Ref make a decision! every foul against Reading was accompanied with appeals for it, ours I felt we just let the Ref make the easy decision(again just my opinion)

I really want to see the positives but I really can't think of any, except I feel it could have been more for Reading

I think I qualify for the Armchair view!

I think you are very correct regarding Gerkin. And that ball should've been his for the 3rd goal way before it dropped for Blackman. I have watched it back a few times. He needed to give the defender a shout, then take a confident stride out and claim it. If you look closer, the defender looks at Gerkin wondering why he didn't come for it. The 2nd goal really irritates me as well. It seemed that Orlando Sa had possession of that ball for the longest time before taking a shot. Berra looked very weak indeed for the 4th goal but I suppose the heads will have been down by then. The 5th goal would've beaten most keepers.

Regarding Sears....., yes lucky that the ball kind of bounced off him into the net......., but his tracking into the box throughout the entire move and to physically be there to pounce was great. A lot of strikers would've been 2 yards further back. I thought Sears played very well.

Well my armchair was thoroughly uncomfortable last night. The spring seemed to have gone and there was no support in the back.

It's left me feeling quite irritated today.

Are you sure you are talking about your armchair? Sounds like you are describing the town defence!!
