Town GK's - The REAL problem?
Surely has to Webster, the GoalKeeping coach?
ALL our GK's appear to have an issue with the BASIC skill/ role of a GK, which is command the 6yard area. This to me says this is down to the coaching they get.
When Bart joined us his you tube presentations were of a GK that made impressive saves, commanded his area and had a good throw out for distribution.
A season down the line what do we see? A keeper that often appears to "see the ball late" , has trouble stopping seemingly simple shots from distance. Doesnt come off his line ( although is lightyears better at this than the hapless Gerkin) and whose distribution is now ofton poor and misdirected.
Gerkin to me simply looks a bag of nerves. Doexnt make desicions, which causes confusion amongst the back four infront if him. Said defenders appear to have little or no confidence in him.
The GK's that have left us over recent years displayed such similar traits.nTo me this points to Webster as tye main problem. I think Town should get rid of him, asap!

I have to admit I was surprised we didn't bring in another keeper to be a potential starter. I guess MM couldn't find a bargain...

I do not feel qualified to comment about Webster, but I have very little confidence in our current number one candidates.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a nailed on first choice we all have faith in.

I agree about Webster, any goalies we have seem to go backwards in their abilities when they arrive at town

Re: Town GK's - The REAL problem?
How long has Webster been at Town for? It's an interesting point and one that I haven't given much thought to before.
It's been a long time since I've had faith in a keeper to organise our back four. In fact, I may be wrong here, but Begovic was the last one that I felt utterly confident in.
It's no secret that defences get nervy when they are have little confidence in the keeper. Maybe that is the reason why we have been so open at the back in the last couple of games. Whatever the reason is, it needs to be addressed soon. :Leaking as easily as we did on Friday is criminal and will cost us dearly over the season.

Doesn't say how long hes been overall with the club but he did comeback 2 seasons ago and he was our coach with Burley and Royle.
Maybe it is something to look at maybe new coach then new ideas.......??
