1-0 Ipswich win...Chambers hoofs the ball up the field...the ball bounces of the back of Murphy's head...hits Skuse's knee...bangs AMN in the groin...falls into Sears' path...Sears shoots off the post, other post, crossbar...McGoldrick trips over his own feet chasing the rebound...he slips and chips the ball off the crossbar...the ball hits Berra's shoulder and smacks Smith in the face and finally settles in the back of the net...1-0!

The way things are going at the moment I can't see a forward scoring a goal. Teams have learn't how to close down our 3 guys Murphy, Mcgoldrick, and Sears I think it will be a defender or midfielder who will start the scoring. What have we lost.... 4 or 5 games so far, there are teams above us who have lost more games, it's the draws that are killing us. I call a 2-0 win for Town

I don't understand why he would replace Parr with Knudson, if you apply his Gerkin & Bart logic?

Let's hope that settles the nerves and we can go on and record a decent win to restore team confidence.

We are playing miles better than Saturday. Should be 2-0 as Pitman shot looked over line but not given.

Was berating our three forwards for their lack of goals when lo and behold Pitman scores and an edit has to take place.
Right we have a two goal lead so it should be safe now, even if there's the often defensive mistake near the end it won't be enough for them. Reserve proper evaluation for end of game but this will be a relief for all involved if the score remains intact.

I normally do Lucy as it's only an hour from home in Leicestershire, last year met up with Bluemike, Hallam & Mach and had a good time despite Rotherham being a dump.
At the moment still in Spain till the end of the month so not sure which game will be my first...
Assuming nothing silly happens in the final qtr hr maybe six from six so could be worth the trip from Suffolk.

Most of the teams around us have lost tonight so that's an added bonus.

Job done, MM, TC & ITFC.
According to Tony Cottee, should've been 4 or 5 nil ITFC @ HT, so sounds like things went very right tonight. I think everyone and their dug, except Rossi thought this'd be a win and that's how it's panned out.
Was all Boro at the Riverside tonight v Rotherham but only managed the 1-0 win......, very stubborn Rotherham defence. Everyone will be hoping Mick sets up to build on the Bolton win and have a good go at Shyte-hole, Rotherham on Saturday.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Bolton Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
Game done and a 2 - 0 home win.
Positives
Imperative victory that stops the recent slide
Pitman scores a much needed goal (been very tentative since moving from Bournemouth)
Any chance of another play-off finish has been resurrected
Three successive games without any goals let in
Negatives
Still concern over leading attackers i.e. Sears, Murphy etc and their inability to score.
This result keeps McCarthy in position a while longer (sorry, but one victory after a string of sh*t results isn't for everyone)
All said that was a very important win, but bear in mind the caliber of todays opposition. Were we simply better than a worse team than ourselves or is this catalyst to go on to something better ? Damned if you do and damned if you don't with our support sometimes but welcome these three points that should hopefully get us moving once again. Just make sure it is repeated next time out and don't revert back to what we have seen in recent weeks before today.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we lose to Hull on a Tuesday night just 2 weeks ago?lucy wrote:Interesting fact - tonight's win is our 14th in a row on a Tuesday night.

Aha! That is indeed an interesting stat. It sounds like tonight was a much improved performance, and something to build on against Rotherham on Saturday...lucy wrote:At homeJamma123 wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we lose to Hull on a Tuesday night just 2 weeks ago?lucy wrote:Interesting fact - tonight's win is our 14th in a row on a Tuesday night.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Bolton Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
What a relief, the rot is stopped and a deserved 2-0 win should restore some confidence. In truth it should have been 4 or 5 against a poor Bolton side but you can only beat what is in front of you. I was surprised to see Knudsen in for parr but aside from that it was the team most expected I guess.
Apart for a 15 minute spell midway through the first half it was pretty comfortable in truth and we created plenty of chances, Pitman should really have had a hat-trick, what with the goal that never was, (it looked over the line to me) and then the header in the second half that was cleared off the line, while Douglas (I thought it was Skuse) hit a screamer that was deflected onto the bar, there was also chances for Murphy and Sears who were unfortunate not to score, while at the other end Gerken really had no serious save of any note to make.
Yes Bolton are poor, that much is obvious but there was little doubt we played with much more purpose and confidence tonight, there were some very good individual performances form the likes of Skuse, Murphy, Pitman and Chambers while the Two centre backs were pretty solid throughout, Knudsen showed some improvement too while AMN scored his first goal. Thankfully no negatives for a change apart from the fact it shouyld have been more than Two but I will take that any day of the week. We must build on this and Four points minimum from the next two games has to be our target although I am expecting the Five game winning streak now. It was pleasing to see the crowd stay at a decent mark too considering a Tuesday night against a poor side who brought very few fans.
