Freddie Sears scores in 16 seconds at Craven Cottage....
Is this the fastest goal scored this season in the Championship?

Charlton got 1 tonight in the first minute too but don't know how many seconds.
Just looked it was 27 seconds.

It's doubtful anyone would have beaten it, and it'll most likely remain intact until end of season.Charnwood wrote:Is this the fastest goal scored this season in the Championship?
Sears' goal today was the perfect start, but I've been live witness to a similar time in an FA Cup Final, albeit a second or two later. (It's the best stage of all to see your team score)

I know that on 14 August Brightons Beram Kayal's scored after just 17 seconds which was the fastest in the Championship for 15 months, since David Goodwillie netted inside 15 seconds for Blackpool against Derby County in 2014.
I can't recall a faster goal since so Freddie's could be the seasons fastest.

Maybe we should start calling Sears, 'Fast Freddie'? I can hear the chants now...
"He's always ready,
always ready.
He's always ready,
Fast Freddie, Fast Freddie!"

always ready.
He's always ready,
Fast Freddie, Fast Freddie!"

That wasnt the fastest Town goal. Apparently ( so says TWTD) A Town player (Douglas Millwal) scored in 10 secs at Home against Newport County in 1957.....and no I wasnt at the game !!

I don't think I was there either Liz although I do remember watching Doug Millward play for Town many times in his No 8 shirt alongside Ray Crawford & Ted Phillips. He was eventually replaced by Doug Moran who was signed by Alf Ramsay from Falkirk for £12000.
In those days the time of goals was at best a referee's guesswork and Doug Millwards goal could possibly have been scored at anytime in the first minute of play.

Apparently the fastest goal scored on record was by a Marc Burrows but it took place at non-professional level. Burrow's goal was at around two and a half seconds after kick off and believe the evidence can be found on Youtube.

Some of those goals look like stage managed "set ups" to me.
