Believe said the same, but just got a view of the score and there is nothing to report, no goals and well into the second period.

On paper alone it could represent a decent score if it remains as it is but would obviously hope for the victory.

We got Pitman Sears and Murphy involved in attack and would like to think those names alone will prove the difference but the opposition are no pushovers and are above in the league in actual fact. Once again a point there would be something satisfactory to take away but still time for something to occur.

Edit, Varney on for Murphy. Hope McCarthy knows what he's doing.

Shame we didn't set a new record but great point keeps us ticking along nicely and predicted a draw and would took that before game so happy another clean sheet.

Yes we'll take that. An away point at a decent opposition, many would have taken that before play if given the opportunity.

Shame our forward line couldn't find a way through but it's been a good last few weeks and we've shown real improvement from previous times. Middlesbrough won the battle of the day and look champion favorites but as for ourselves, we're still very much involved in the play-off race.

Don't know the ground capacity of Turf Moor but there were some 16,000 in attendance today. Does that represent a poor crowd ? Keep in mind it's a mid-winter game maybe not played in the best of conditions but we'll let it lie. Don't know how many of our own we took but rest assured the majority will return south satisfied enough with the team's endeavors this day.

Really good point from a hard-fought match; we've acquitted ourselves well against two of the team's above us, keeping clean sheets into the bargain. Sounds like Smith and Berra were outstanding at the heart of our defence, keeping Andre Grey well shackled.

Safe journey home for all travelling Tractor Boys and Girls.

I thought it sounded like a thoroughly deserved but hard earned result, on the radio.

Good result.
Shows we can do battle with the big guns... and get a result.

Most depressing this season was build up to Hull game.... we knew we were getting nothing against a top side before the game .. and we didn't.

Now there's belief and the defence are putting in clean sheets.

No way 2 points dropped.

Middlesbrough and Derby County - two games - zero points.

Fair enough the latter could have gone either way in the end, on top of a something lackluster encounter, but Middlesbrough were deserved victors in the other. Bottom line, we got nothing out of either. Games are there to be won, that we didn't - will go down in the seasons statistical records.

Not to put a downer on things, once again (and last time) today was a good score. Burnley have a team of merit and up there with ourselves and to come away with a share of the spoils at their venue, represented something of an achievement.

Decent point against a good team, Brighton & Hull will need to be looking over their shoulders especially with Sheff Wed & Brum doing well.

Slightly off topic but how is Mr Bishop coming on? is he getting closer to making a return?

That's a better than satisfactory result against a team that had scored 8 goals in their two previous home games.

Town keeping a fourth clean sheet making it four clean sheets in five consecutive away games highlights where we've made the most significant improvement and if this can be maintained 2016 could be a very good year.

Well done to a defence which has often taken lots of criticism.

Looking forward to Blumikes report.

Was in London all day yesterday and when I heard the result was happy with that.
I should imagine what pleased MM the most was another clean sheet which is a real positive considering the problem we were having with conceding goals not so long ago.

So the record was not to be but the lads put it another very solid and professional away performance to bring home what could be a crucial point against one of our rivals for a top Six spot. It was well deserved and probably over the course of the Ninety minutes a fair reflection of the game, if it were a boxing contest I suppose I would say Town edged home on points but then again I would say that wouldnt I, although for me we definitely had the upper hand during the first half, especially on chances created, Burnley will feel hard done by with the goal being disallowed for pushing but the ref was in a great position and gave it straight away. Sometimes stats lie and I am not one to take too much notice of them but yesterday they show that we had 14 shots to their 8, 3 on target to their 1, 8 corners to their 2 and 52% possession in our favour so if anyone edged it we certainly seemed to.

As goalless draws go it wasn't too bad to be fair, Two teams trying to get forward and create chances, it appeared to me we set up as 4-5-1 with Sears and Fraser getting forward to support Murphy in attack and it was these Two that again caused Burnley problems in the first half. Sears almost set up Smith early on but he shot weakly straight at Heaton while a few minutes later Fraser sent an effort just wide of the goal. We did have a bit of an escape when Gray sent a good effort just wide of the goal when he should really have done better. Town had one or two other half chances as the first half wore on before Mee had his goal ruled out for a foul. For me it was Town's half although not by much.

The second half was a very even contest with most of the chances being fairly routine without any great strikes on either goal, unlike at Brighton I never really saw a Burnley goal coming to be fair while we again looked pretty dangerous on the break, especially with the pace of sears who was put clean through once by Murphy but his effort was blocked. All in all it was a good days work and a point gained in our quest for the top Six, it sets us up nicely for two home league games against Leeds & Preston, both who we have already beaten away from home so we have every chance to consolidate our place in the play off zone.

For me there was little doubt that Tommy Smith was our MOTM yesterday, I think it was one of the best games I have seen him have for a long time, it was he who mainly snuffed out the threat of the 9 million quid man Andre Gray who it has to be said spent most of the game falling over and sitting on his arse, he got the better of Smith on the opening day at Brentford to rob us of Two points but Smithy certainly got his revenge yesterday and won his individual battle hands down. Luke Hyam came in and did ok without standing out but for me the loss of Johnny Douglas definitely robbed us of some goal threat as JD gets forward more and scores goals where as Hyam, as we all know rarely gets anywhere the oppositions box, that said we did OK as a Midfield unit. Once again Gerken was rock solid and kept another clean sheet but with only one effort from Burnley on target it was mainly crosses and through balls that he had to deal with.

I was more than happy with my first trip to Turf Moor, a club that seems stuck back in the 1960's, with its wooden seated stands, not long ago they were gracing the Premier league but on yesterday's showing you would have a hard job knowing which team had recently come down, they are no better than us and we have every chance to finish above them, the more I see of our rivals (Derby & Middlesbrough apart) the more I know we can achieve a top Six finish. Onwards and upwards, bring on the Pompey !!!

Great report Mike, reading it made me feel like I was there with you. In fact I wasn't more than 50 miles away in the Yorkshire Dales unfortunately with a car load not interested in football.

I've only been to Turf Moor once when I sat in the Directors Box for a friendly match v Bobby Robsons Newcastle United, I was only there because the company I worked for then had sponsored the match.

Interestingly at the pre match meal I sat next to our table host Brian Pilkington a "Claret" through and through who played in their Div 1 Championship winning side in 1959/60 and had so many great stories to share. He must now be in his early 80's and is still a regular visitor to Turf Moor, he also owns an Estate Agency whose corporate colours are, guess what........claret & blue

I just wonder sometimes if our current footballers will have such strong bonds with the clubs they played for when they reach their later years.

Apols for rambling on....

Good report Mike thanks for the view from the game. I was more than pleased that we did´nt Loose as I feared we would. The defence has really been solid and the midfield have also been chipping in here and there. JD would have offered more of a threat but its great to hear Hyams back and he will help to push us on to the NeXT level.

Im coming home for the Reading game so though I dont post as much as I used to i still keep an eye on whats happening.

Now lets win our next two home League games .

Two home wins would certainly be nice and we have beaten both of these next two opponents away from home so far this season. However it's these mid table teams we seem to be struggling against at Portman Road so for sure it won't be easy.

Sheff Wed also have a good opportunity to pick up 6 points in their next two games whilst Burnley have a tricky game at Brentford and Birmingham two consecutive away games at Forest and Derby.

Certainly our fixture at Birmingham on 23 Jan will be a huge game and one where another clean sheet would be helpful.

Did you realise that there is every chance the Reading game could be cancelled as it is due to be 4th round FA Cup day so if ourselves and or Reading progress that game will not take place.

You needn't worry, (in all probability) we won't be participating beyond the third round.

Whilst I'd prefer to win Tuesday night v Leeds and lose on Saturdar rather than vis versa, I really can't see us losing at home to Pompey regardless of what team MM puts out. Pompey are in a similar league position to us in League 2 and will be desperate not to miss out on promotion, so likewise may well play a less than full strength side.

Personally I'd like to see us progress in the FA Cup especially if we can avoid injuries as success breeds success.

I think it is safe to say that injuries permitting we will see the likes of Bart, Malarczyk, Kenlock, Tabby, Coke, Oar, AMN, Varney, Hyam, Parr, Digby ??? all getting some game time against Pompey and as you say Charny that should still be a good enough team to get the job done.

Save it, I just gave it the acknowledgement it deserves

Just on this FA Cup game issue, often fail to remember what league Portsmouth are in right now (keep thinking they're an EPL side for some reason) but in fact are a league below us, so giving this a re-think, believe (now) even if - and he will - McCarthy deploys a weakened team on the day, the players available should still have it within them to see off the opposition. Being at home also brings a certain degree of reassurement.

While not a calamity, it would be a real disappointment if Portsmouth were to put us out even if it went to a second game. Hopefully any faith in the team and the recent impressive run should put to rest any concerns and we can finish the job at the first attempt. Yes we're not going to win the damn competition, but at least give it a go and see how far it can take us.

Funnily, I think it's the older and bolder amongst us who still look on the FA Cup with a sense of romance - although I'm still recovering from the infamous 'Clive Thomas' replay against Wet Spam in 1975! No fine romance there.

Without disrespecting the comp, no question where the club's priorities lie.

Never felt so gutted after a game as I did that night at the Bridge.
Even worse I went into work the next morning and as I walked into the office one of the girls started whistling I'm forever blowing bubbles. Being the fool I am I ended up marrying her!!

The same colossal idiot who made a mess of the '77 semi-final a year or two after. (Actually come to think it, there was the infamous game at the 1978 World Cup also when Thomas blew for time when someone had scored direct from a corner.) How in retrospect that f**king loon was awarded referee status at professional level is a mystery.

So the Cup game is up next, with league endeavors thereafter. Took the time to look in on a Portsmouth fansite some time earlier and many of them aren't expecting much out of it. Some mention of : 'We won there (at Ipswich) on route to the FA Cup victory (2008) so it must be a good omen'.. but most are honest enough to admit we're favorites for this and really should be looking to progress to the later stages.
