Re: What do you wish for when the transfer window opens ?
I can't see us doing much on the business side based on Mick being seemingly satisfied.
However, full back positions are the biggest talking point. Proper full back/s brought in would be real strengthening, but not sure MICK sees it that way. Parr never gets a sniff and the back 5 are nailed in.... so not sure MICK wants to upset that.
Agree with previous poster... get rid of Toure, Tabb, Coke.
Tabb annoys me, because he seems very happy to stay here and be a non-playing squad player. I know he's been injured and he's saying complimentary things about Town... but having 33 year old players hanging in there seeing out their contract means there's less opportunities for youngsters. The guy can do a good job at League 1.With bishop and Hyam coming back... let's offload these surplus midfield players.

We don't need any further attacking options - or do we -our current forwards sometimes seem inconsistent or not working to proper productivity, and I don't see enough of the team to really comment on other departments. As mentioned, I can't really see McCarthy being overly active when the time comes around. Would appear the most relevant areas for adjustment would be defense and midfield. Looking for one further attacking name that could do a job wouldn't do any harm, for the aforementioned reasons stated.

Oops I didn't see this topic. We've signed a player called Paul Digby on loan from Barnsley.

A quick look at Barnsley fans' forums suggests they are as bemused as we are by this one.
Still in Mick we trust.

I'd never have remembered without your prompt. Was never a fan of The Eagle, far more a Roy of the Rovers fan.

Re: What do you wish for when the transfer window opens ?
There are reports that Jonny Parr is being targeted by a Norwegian club.
This could be a good thing if we release him. Thats not a slur on the player, but it's obvious he's not part of the Mick crowd and best if he goes elsewhere.
Can't see Digby being a like for like replacement, so perhaps if Parr is going then we'll get cover at FB in the transfer window.
I think that its healthy that squad players feel they are given a fair shot at getting in the side. For whatever reason, Parr is not going to get a run.... so best for all parties to part company and build on strengthening the squad. Same applies to Coke, Toure, Tabb.... offload and bring in good squad players who can add to existing squad.
Who knows... maybe just paper talk, but always found it strange how Parr never gets a sniff and wonder that he must be on the ' Mick Naughty Step'.

At 6ft4ins and comfortable on the ball and we'll as a great header of the ball I'd say there's every chance that Digby will be viewed or adapted to be a centre half.
So in the background we potentially have a new back four for the not too distant future.
Malacheck ( spl?)
Yòrworth (spl?)......Bloody foreigners lol !!
Emmanuel
Digby
Academy youngster . Can't recall his name.

We've also got Matt Clarke (19) out on loan at Portsmouth where he's established himself as a regular in the starting line up. I'm pretty sure he scored the opening goal in Pompey's 3-0 win yesterday.

Nice place to have a wine bar. We have friends who lived in Holmfirth until recently (their sons still do). We visited for a long weekend last springtime and stayed in the Bridge Inn. We probably went in your daughters place as I don't recall there were that many bars in Holmfirth and I'm pretty sure we visited them all over the course of the weekend.

Re: What do you wish for when the transfer window opens ?
When Matt Clarke scored his first senior goal on Saturday for Pompey I've just read that two other Town players were playing for the opposition, Josh Yorwerth and Josh Emmanuel’s loaned out to Crawley who lost 3-0 at Fratton Park.
Must have been a bit of ITFC reunion, at least these lads are getting some decent experience.

Josh Emmanuel has now returned on completion of his month's loan, whilst young Yorwerth remains at Crawley for the remainder of the season. Together with Matt Clarke, all are sound future prospects, and will benefit from getting miles on the clock. Suspect MM will try to fix Emmanuel up with a further, suitable, loan period.Charnwood wrote:When Matt Clarke scored his first senior goal on Saturday for Pompey I've just read that two other Town players were playing for the opposition, Josh Yorwerth and Josh Emmanuel’s loaned out to Crawley who lost 3-0 at Fratton Park.

It would certainly help in the future if we could develop more home grown talent. It could also be a revenue source if we stay in the second tier of English football.

Not much going on so far in the Championship this transfer window, but I do like the look of Brightons signing of Anthony Knockeart, this could be a very shrewd signing.

Re: What do you wish for when the transfer window opens ?
MM once again saying in local media, and on Sky, that he doesn't plan to do much/any business in the Jan window. Happy with the squad he has etc. Not sure what to make of that statement, given that Digby arrived on the same day MM ruled out doing any business last week!
Of course there's room to improve, there always is - Brighton and Derby have done so. But unless an outstanding loan or free transfer body becomes available, MM/ME are clearly not in the business of spending any significant transfer fees. Something we already knew!

Re: What do you wish for when the transfer window opens ?
How do we know Brighton & Derby have improved ? They may have improved on paper but that abouts it until it is proven on the pitch, with Derby in 2nd place I would question the need to sign anyone else to be honest, sometimes it can have an adverse effect, just as it did at Derby last season, I seem to recall everyone waxing lyrical about Derby's signings last January and bemoaning our lack of spending and lo and behold we pipped them to the play off's as they imploded.

Re: What do you wish for when the transfer window opens ?
When May comes round we'll know whether Derby's investment in Nick Blackman, and Brighton's in our old friend Anthony Knockaert will have been good business. Clearly their respective managers will have done their homework and believe squads will have been strengthened by adding what they must view as quality, thereby enhancing their promotion prospects. We will see!
Not suggesting we should have been in for either of those players; but, with half the season still to run, should the opportunity arise to add quality/strength/experience to our squad's depth, then I would hope that MM would see that a positive move. Our achievements last season, on limited resources but with a squad full of lions, was fantastic and may yet be repeated. However, No reason to be over sceptical that the right addition(s) might jeopardise those chances.

Don't get me wrong Blackman is having a good season, however prior to this he had really done sod all, I just don't see how he is better that what they already have, as you have said, time will tell.
