Bailkowski

It may be just me but for sometime now I have noticed that Bailkowski is the sort of keeper that likes to watch the ball go into the net rather than dive and give it go. Arguably both of Pompey's goals could have been stopped if he had dived. Perhaps this habit is why Gerkin is preferred by McC?

Spot on Shred, I have not rated him for some time now and this is one of the reasons, he seems to go to sleep at times and his mind drifts, a bit like Bramble used to do, his reactions are also very slow at times which results in needless goals being conceded. he did do what he is paid to do early on yesterday and that was make a couple of decent saves but all in all I think MM has it spot on in opting for Gerken as his number One keeper.

Could Bialkowski still be coming to terms with his recent bereavement ? A loss of that magnitude would affect anyone regardless of profession and it's going to take a while to fit back into a normal routine.

Yes he needs game time, and going out there and being involved and trying to regain his previous stature is just what maybe is required - both for the individual and club - but as before, could take a while before he's back to his usual self.

While I have always felt that he's not the great player some thought he was when they were screaming for Gerken to be dropped, I felt as bit sorry for him on Saturday. Not a great performance, he made a couple of saves early on but didn't push the ball to safety, and thought eh might have done a bit better with the goals. But he was playing behind a defence that was embarrassingly inept. That really doesn't help.

My opinion on the keepers at PR......., both are good enough for the Championship, both have very good games and poor games, (as most championship keepers do) ......, Can't speak for Bailkowski but my only fault on Gerken, from what I have witnessed, is not coming off his line enough at times......., balls that are clearly his to claim, he lets chambers, Smith or Berra deal with them; not all, but a fair few.

ITFC, IMO, need to haul their arses into the EPL to attract a keeper who fans will have undoubted faith in.
