2016/17 Ticket Prices.

The club has today announced that season tickets for adults at Portman Road will go up by 1.5% for almost 97% of the stadium.

That means the cost of a seat in the lower tiers has risen from £390 in 2013/14 to £417 for 2016/17.

From 2003 to 2013, season ticket prices at Portman Road had remained frozen seven out of 11 years.

The Under-11s season ticket remains priced at £10 for the ninth successive year, while the zero interest 12-month direct debit scheme remains in place.

One major change sees the club drop its grading system for matchday prices. Instead of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ prices, all home games will have a set price that matches the current ‘B’ cost – that’s £27.50 for an adult seat in the lower tiers and between £32.50 to £37.50 for the vast majority of seats in the upper tiers.

Blues managing director Ian Milne said: “While there is a small increase for adult season tickets, in line with the retail price index, we feel at just over £18 a game, it represents a competitive price. We have listened to supporters who wanted to simplify our matchday pricing and acted on that.

“Attracting youngsters to Portman Road remains a priority and we have seen an increase in both our Junior Blues membership and those Under-11s and Under-16s attending games. We are continually looking to increase our matchday activities for families.”

A small section of premium seating – in blocks Y, X and D – will go up between 2.5% and 3.5% in cost.

A club statement read: “Adults can watch the 23 home games in the Championship from an average of £18.13 per match if they purchase before the Early Bird deadline of midday on April 11, 2016, making a saving of around £276 against matchday prices. Under-20s can save up to £348.

“Season ticket holders will gain from a new initiative that has seen the club link-up with local and national companies to provide discounts on an array of goods and services.

“If Town are promoted to the Premier League for 2016/17 there would be no extra cost for those who purchase before the Early Bird deadline. In addition, the free Premier League season ticket offer remains in place whereby, if the club were promoted in 2016/17, you would get a free top-flight season ticket for 2017/18 provided you are an Academy Friend paying £10 a month for both 2016/17 and 2017/18.”

About what I expected to be honest. I don't suppose it will go down well with the casuals but at around £18 a game for my Season Ticket I am pretty happy with that.

Good to see you involved more Mr Rusher and not intimidated by the cyber bullies, and maybe it says something when an EPL team can set their costs at a fraction over ourselves. I don't see Ipswich play live often but realize that Portman Road is one of the most expensive in the championship league : at least in terms of season ticket prices (One thousand pounds + ?) and what's more - fans aren't exactly getting value for money.

The costs could appear almost belligerent. In fact supporters haven't had value for money for the best part of a decade but it's their decision to purchase. Prices could be somewhat justified if the team was providing entertaining play or making progress, but neither is happening for the most part. The fans deserve more for what they're prepared to pay to watch events.

Yes indeed, this is a big worry. I expect those that are finding it tough will still somehow manage the increases to Cigarettes, Alcohol, Petrol, Road tax, Insurance, Holidays, restaurants, etc etc etc but OMG this increase at PR is obscene.

It shouldnt go unnoticed that Everton fans will get 19 games for that £420 while Town fans will get 23 games for the £417. Our season Ticket prices are very much in line with most other clubs, the £1000 you mention is way off the mark, yes there are a handful of seats at Portman Road that cost £1000 but it is a handful, nobody is forced to have these particular seats and yet they are used. This is the problem with all these stupid price comparisons across the league, because we have a few seats that cost £1000+ this innacurate figure is often used as our benchmark for ST costs and it just isn't correct.

The value for money thing is a different argument altogether, if it has been as bad for some as they make out then they have a decision to make, put up or shut up is my view, back up your views and don't go anymore it is that simple but I bet most will still go next season and use the old adages "well I go out of habit" or " I love the club" what bullshit, it is because they still want to go but like a good old moan along the way, society these days is full of bloody moaners who talk the talk but don't walk the walk by backing up their verbal feelings with actions.

The Government has even withdrawn prescriptions for many complimentary drugs like tablets for bad stomach etc . The Council Tax is raised and then blow millions on stuff that benefits no one. Every penny is being squeezed out of your budget and one day it will all go POP.

This has probably more to do with the fact that Prem clubs TV revenue is the richest ever in the coming season. If Town were getting that kind of money, I'm sure the prices would reflect that.
