f*ck OFF
where did that come from ?
Seventh minute of added time and they get a f**king goal , are you kidding me ?
Lo and behold next thing they blow for time..
Two dropped dropped for me, that end was bullshit. WHY THE HELL CAN'T WE HANG ON IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS, ALWAYS LET THEM BACK IN IT. Penalty of all things, what a stupid error to give away right at the end.

Bolton bossed the stats, probably deserved the point but will wait to hear the match reports. Very frustrating end but with only 6 shots against the bottom club says it all. I truely believe MM is doing all he can and is doing a great job. Unfortunatly the players he has are just not performing and need to pull their fingers out of their asses and start paying mick back for his confidence in them.

But at 2-0 up we really should be winning the game. Huddersfield bossed their game and we still won.ipswichtownNo1 wrote:Bolton bossed the stats, probably deserved the point but will wait to hear the match reports. What a heap of sh*t. Kept in the game by Bart otherwise a tanking. Outplayed by a team bottom of this league and will be in League 1 next year. Likely with Portsmouth who also played us off the park. What is wrong with this team. Why are we still even in contention for a play off place. F*ck it

Yeah, we got lucky against huddersfield, thats once in a blue moon outcome. We are just not creating enough infront of goal. How often do we win by more than a 1 goal margin?? They had 25 shots with over a 3rd of them on target. Fair play to them, the showed the determination to keep pressing and it paid off. They say the best form of defence is attack, shame town are not doing that at the moment.lucy wrote:But at 2-0 up we really should be winning the game. You must have seen a different highlight to me Lucy, AMN was so stupid to allow his former Arsenal team mate to get the wrong side of him and then go to ground lunging in from behind and catching his right leg in the process... an easy decision for the referee and hardly one we can complain about.
The first goal was also a gift. A shame really as by all accounts read so far Bart would appear to have had another really good game, but what's the point if you wreck it all by gifting the opposition a goal as he did in the 73rd minute to allow then back into the game. The cross that he chose to punch straight into the path of the guy who scored the goal would have been far easier and safer to catch.
2-0 up with 18mins + added to play, and that's how it should have stayed.

Bolton's draw earned only their second point in six Championship games, shame it was at our expense.

The player went down too easily and he was booked minutes earlier for diving.

Looking at it a pen was right.
We need Super Cooper to give a bit of coaching at PR.
I feel sympathy for the travelling fans....they must be gutted.
At least we are in our cosy homes.

Players always go down in the box with the slightest touch, especially when the team is a goal down in added time, unfortunately the rules of the game work in their favour, all the ref has to decide is whether or not there was contact. AMN was very naive and should have stayed on his feet, especially with us having so many defenders in the six yard box, six I think I counted inc the keeper.

.... and some may well have left the ground thinking the job was done, and then had a nasty shock. Gutted for Bluemike and his friends on the journey home, although on a positive note we still picked up a point.

Re: Bolton Wanderers v Ipswich Town preview and matchday thread
Yes, Maitland-Niles' utter act of stupidity cost us points but our performance tonight still didn't merit 3 points. I'd say we were really poor, outfought at times. Played with a bit of nonchalance, perhaps not good enough either.
We hardly touched the ball in the first 10 minutes and there were only two notable moments between start of the game and Bru's goal. We got the corner in 12 min and Sears' shot on target saved by Rachubka.
The main Bolton's threat had been coming from their winger Feeney who tormented Chambers any time he played on the left wing. Bolton are going to get rid of many players this summer so he could be the player we need.
Bialkowski made an incredible double save a few mins before interval. How on earth didn't that go in I don't know. This one plus another goalmouth scramble in which Trotter somehow failed to score, we were really lucky. Barely offered anything going forward. Very poor first half from us.
Second half was mainly hoofball from us and vast majority of our attempts would begin with Sears who himself was playing on the left side. The right one hardly existed.
We would concede possession many, many times by sending stupid long balls forward in the hope something would happen. Why I don't know. What was the point of that? At the same time Bolton operated far better with the ball and created more than us. Well they tried whereas we lacked a system and organisation. We just tried random things in the hope something might happen. No-one in the middle to carry this team forward or distribute the balls.
Berra's nice header and the game seemed over but we let them come back into this less than 60 seconds later.
5 minutes from the time there was a moment in which the game should have been put to bed. Smith's free header ought to have landed in the goal. Went inches wide and it was a bad miss.
Then came a moment of madness from Maitland-Niles. This wasn't the first moment he played like that. 2 weeks ago at Huddersfield he stupidly gave away a free kick in the middle of the pitch after losing the ball. Some people have been accusing him of being disinterested/poor or whatever. Well there is certainly something as he hasn't turned out to be the player we hoped for.
Stupid penalty and a minute after that the final whistle from ref and Maitland-Niles seemed totally despondent and devastated whilst leaving the pitch. Looked like crying and was consolated by Mick and coaching staff.
The circumstances in which we concede late equaliser are the reason why the final result is hard to take. To be honest though there were few positives tonight as our performance wasn't encouraging. Actually far from it. Not the first time under Mick that we invite the pressure and it doesn't end well. Are we ever going to learn?
Similar performance to Huddersfield in which we didn't offer much attacking wise and in which we didn't seem to have a tactical plan.
Bafflingly some top 6 teams have had even worse results than us tonight against bottom half teams and it's still all to play for but we just need to play better. This tonight has been far from promising.

Re: Bolton Wanderers v Ipswich Town preview and matchday thread
Haven't seen the penalty incident but whether it was the right decision or otherwise the fact remains we couldn't see out the advantage and gave away three points at such a late stage of the game it's even now hard work to comment on.
There's been too many instances it seems where we have played teams in the bottom three of the league and f*cked up a score, or come away with loss of points, and today was just another example. Yes seven points from the last three games is impressive, but as before, I keep in mind the level of opposition we were playing.
(Going back three games) Huddersfield were unfortunate not to take anything from that fixture - we escaped with a win that was hardly deserving - , and although the Forest game was an improvement, we saw today another instance of maybe getting away with more than we deserved. Would a win for Bolton tonight have been that unfair a score ? On the basis of their possession and chances created, people would argue not.
Essentially while the club has improved in recent games (at least in terms of score) we're still far from promotion material and as today illustrated, we mess up too often against sides we should be taking more from to realistically expect anything other than another year in this damn league. Not something you'd want to write (not something people would ideally want to read) about your own club side but certain issues need to be addressed regards our situation.
Still irritated to an extent about messing up at the very end and the loss of a two goal advantage - especially against a bottom placed team - but trying for positives, we at least scored two goals and very nearly made it three successive victories. Obviously still in contention for the top six but can only hope the two points thrown away at the end do not prove critical by end of season.

Not the report I was hoping to read but unfortunately much in line with what I expected having followed the game from a distance.
The way results are going at the moment quite a shabby team could end up taking 6th place and making the play offs. Given the lack of consistency of the teams above, that 6th placed team could easily find themselves in next season's Premier League. That shabby team could still be us.
