of the midfielders we have - most appear to be "workman" like.

GROUP A:
Hyam
Skuse
Douglas
Tabb
Foley

a few, are creative,

GROUP B :

Bishop
McGoldrick (I don't class him as a striker anymore )
Pringle
Feeney

of the above, you ideally need 1 player.from group A and 2/3 from group B. You could get away with two from each group but that depends on how you match them up.

Mick's problem is he tends to go with 2 from Group À ( or on occasions 3), and only 1 from group B.

To see any change in our style of play and ability to provide a decent service for the strikers, he us going to have to go well outside of HIS comfort zone of "defend the point you start with". can he / will he do it? I'd say unlikely!

A manager being too stubborn to change, FOR ME, that is a sackable offence alone.

He MUST genuinely believe the sides he puts out, WILL do the job.

Mick has basically said himself that its his way only and the more people ask for change the less likely it will happen. That to me is stubborn and wanting to prove us all wrong. I like mick and dont want him to go but he is driving me mad with his random decisions regarding team selection. One week he wont change the team because they won, next week it stays the same when they lose. Bart has time off for personal reasons and is dropped for gerks cos mick is being loyal. Bart comes back due to gerks injury and imo is much better keeper, f*ck loyal , play your best players mick. He has also said he wont sign anyone unless they are better than what he has. If thats the case, play the new guys dont leave them on the bench. Being a town player must be the most secure job in the country, win lose or draw your still flavour of the month with mick. Drop the deadwood and loyalties and move on. Hell, give youngsters a run out and make the first team squad think about their place in the team. Stubborn he certainly is imo.

I have always been an advocate for playing a holding midfielder in the shape of a Makelele, gravesen et al. For me they are essential to a side to break up play and assist the back four. Generally an older head that doesn't have the legs necessarily but who's reading of the game is spot on. Hyam broke into the side all those years ago with both. Youthful legs and a pretty impressive reading of the game. Unfortunately he seems to have decided to regress in both departments.

That's how I would set my teams up anyway. A back four, holding midfielder, two wingers and a creative player behind the two strikers.

Now I've said that, whilst I would always have a holding midfielder in the side, I wouldnt have three of them at the same time. What is the point?

That for me has been my concern the last couple of games. Where are we supposed to create anything from? These players are there to stifle an attack. To defend when the need arises. To play an easy ball (a la leadbitter style) to someone else. They are all unable to create anything.

Playing all three is suicidal and downright negative.

If it were me, I'd have a massive overhaul. We currently possess too much sh*te in the middle.

Doubtless there's a "names to replace McCarthy" thread around and about, but this was the first relevant item that came to hand.

Point being : got news a day or two back that Warnock has decided to leave Rotherham. This is a very good opportunity.

Warnock has said he would like one more season in the game and at a championship club, and to be truthful I'd jump at the chance to give him a shot here and see what occurs. Even if it's only for one season, I'd much rather take chances with this than risk another nine months of McCarthy's damn boring play and belligerent mindsets. I know there are some people that come on the pages such as David Loud and Proud, who have contact with influential names within the club, so ideally I'd ask a favor and see if anything can come of this.

Been a fan of Warnock for some time. Gets his teams playing, not afraid to offer an opinion and won't tolerate what some of our players have produced for much of this past season. I realize it's unlikely to occur - but he is available for selection, is looking for one last opportunity within the game, and McCarthy has outstayed his welcome to many. Somebody make something happen.

OK will ring ME this morning and get it done.

For what it's worth Warnock is on the verge of joining Blackburn by all accounts. Let's see how just how good he does with them.
