Not sure if Marcus is keeping an eye on this forum.

Saw thread title, thought "Yip, this is going to be about Liverpool chucking it and ruining my football bet"......., another Mevans out thread though. Proceed with "the record is stuck" discussions about that.

Re: What a complete farce !!
There's always one result every week that screws up a football bet, mine was f*cked up this week by Burnley, I looked at cashing out with ten minutes to play but got greedy only for Wolves to score in the 92nd minute.
I should have stayed with horses after four great betting days at Cheltenham.
As for JR's post, I'm sure ME would love to pass the club on to someone else if he could find someone to take it, but that would be extremely difficult with debts totalling £84m.

I'd doubt Evans even knows this forum exists let alone ever taken a view of it.tangfastic wrote:Not sure if Marcus is keeping an eye on this forum.

As the author has provided another (obligatory) mention of club deficiencies, can only reiterate that Marcus Evans should remain owner for some time to come. Yes it's not for everyone but as another user put it, the club is heavily in debt and wouldn't be a very favorable proposition to another potential takeover. See what you're saying, but it's merely hope over expectation.

A bit of a stupid opening thread if you ask me, although it's obviously been posted to get a reaction which hasn't really happened.

Re: What a complete farce !!
Probably was a boring short post but I was not in the mood to write about anything else that was on my mind other than state the obvious about another poor show against Rotherham. Losing against teams like Rotherham, Bristol City etc underlines McCarthy was wrong to state he was happy with his squad during the transfer window. He then has to bring in loan players to inject some excitement into our games. Yes, it is good when we win but there is still a shortage of entertainment value . You sense there is another poor loss just round the corner. If the truth is known Evans has no desire to buy any players, period. Get fed up being drip fed McCarthys post match quotes when Ipswich should be beating teams and entertaining their fans. The invisible chairman is just another indication that Ipswich supporters are getting a poor deal.

With an estimated wealth of over 600 million Evans hardly needs a salary and should ideally know if owners of clubs take a wage packet from them but the business aspect of the game isn't one my fortes. Sometimes you feel as if Ipswich Town Football Club is more of a 'hobby' than an actual business enterprise for the individual in question and does he possess the real interest of the team at heart in order to really make us progress as we should ?jaykay wrote:as this a discussion about evans, wondered does he take a salary from the club.i know other people who own firms take a wage from their company.just dont know if owners of football clubs do.
Caught between a rock and a hard place sometimes. If Evans departs it could jeopardize the club and as mentioned before, any potential new takeover bids would be wary of the heavy debts the club carries.

In fairness in recent weeks Sheff Wed, Middlesbrough and even Derby have been well and truly done by a resurgent Rotherham and with much stronger squads so their spending didnt work on that occasion either.jeremy rusher wrote:Probably was a boring short post but I was not in the mood to write about anything else that was on my mind other than state the obvious about another poor show against Rotherham. The true measure on whether these clubs spending worked, will be whether or not they achieve promotion. The answer to that won't be known till the end of the season.

Re: What a complete farce !!
not sure of this but led to believe the club doesnt have the debts, marcus evans has the debt.so if he walks away the debt goes with him.althou ipswich would struggle to pay wages and all the running costs.i think the only assets he would have is the training ground.which i suppose would be worth a bit for building houses.the ground itself is owned by the council.saint jude wrote:With an estimated wealth of over 600 million Evans hardly needs a salary and should ideally know if owners of clubs take a wage packet from them but the business aspect of the game isn't one my fortes. Technically correct, I seem to remember that we own the ground, the council own the land it's built on. I may be wrong, but I've always found that to be a completely strange arrangement

I think it is the case that if and when ME walks away and sells the club the new buyer takes on the debt, it will never leave ITFC until such a time as our owner scraps it which will never happen.

Re: What a complete farce !!
then his debt will get higher all the time.he bought ipswich town debt of 36 million for 12 million.so if he decides to walk he knows he will never get the full amount of what ever the debt is at the time.so if its 80 odd million now and he puts in 6 million ayear it will be over 100 million in a few years time if we stay in this league.nobody would give him 100 million for our club and still have x amount to invest in the team.

The club is a profit making club. It seems any player worth something will be sold. Any money we get from our players sold is not being used to bring in any quality. I just wish we had a chairman who had more interest in attaining a better standard of football and more importantly was interested in the supporters of this club. Four managers down the line and we are still performing like a League One team in most games and still hoping a loan player can resurrect our season. As I said, it is a poor deal for a town fan these days. Not a whimper from the chairman either. We could not even get past a Portsmouth team in the FA Cup and have a bash at Bournemouth in the next round. We rest players for the FA Cup replay at Portsmouth and then lose convincly at Birmingham. Another lack lustre season.

Had to google ITFC chairman. Didn't realise it was also Mevans.jeremy rusher wrote:Not a whimper from the chairman either.
Whilst on that page, it said something about being a "SELF" made millionaire. His dad's name is/was Nigel Bruce Charles Evans. I'm sorry but, anyone who's dad's name is that, is not a SELF made millionaire. Need to stop reading Wiki.
Someone will now find a link, "You're wrong, his dad was a shelf stacker all his life in an Aberystwyth store."
Bollocks. His dad was a pilot in the fkn Battle of Britain with a name like that.

Guessing all club sides are in it to make a profit, otherwise there's little point in going out to achieve something.jeremy rusher wrote:You have your figures wrong there bud.jaykay wrote:then his debt will get higher all the time.he bought ipswich town debt of 36 million for 12 million.so if he decides to walk he knows he will never get the full amount of what ever the debt is at the time.so if its 80 odd million now and he puts in 6 million ayear it will be over 100 million in a few years time if we stay in this league.nobody would give him 100 million for our club and still have x amount to invest in the team.

Otherwise hard to dispute. Another lackluster season and apathy with cup competition, not to mention poor scores in subsequent games after players rested.
Obviously you're not in favor of either the manager or owner and there a good many others with the same sentiments. As I said before, while the play is often turgid or uninspiring, McCarthy has shown his capabilities on occasion and provided a certain level of expectation, but it has to be said, those moments seem very few and far between sometimes.
