Malarczyk Joins Southend.

Post by Bluemike » Thu Mar 24, 2016 7:26 pm

Town defender Piotr Malarczyk has joined League One Southend United on loan for the rest of the season.

“We’ve played against Piotr in a behind closed doors with Ipswich and I’m very pleased to have signed him,” Shrimpers manager Phil Brown told the Southend Echo.

“We needed another defender and Piotr is someone who has a real presence back there.”

He added: “If you want a defender with the right mentality, the right attitude you won’t go far wrong from Piotr.”

“He brings that steely mentality to the side. He’s a strong character who’s vocal and has got a presence.”

Malarczyk, 24, was signed from his hometown club Korona Kielce, where he was skipper, in August, when the Blues triggered a release clause of 50,000 zloty (around £8,500) in his contract.

But since then the former Poland U21 international, who was close to winning a senior international call-up in September, has made only three starts - all in the cups - and three Championship sub appearances.

His last Town game was the FA Cup replay defeat at Portsmouth in which he was sent off having picked up two yellow cards after conceding a penalty (above).

Recently, having been out of action for three weeks due to a kidney stone, he has been out of the Blues' senior matchday 18 and playing in the U21s side.

Despite his lack of opportunities, Malarczyk said last week that he's not ready to give up on English football with manager Mick McCarthy praising his attitude.

Malarczyk is unavailable for Southend's game at Rochdale tomorrow but will join up with their squad on Sunday and could make his debut against Sheffield United at Roots Hall next Wednesday.

The Southend squad also includes former Blues Noel Hunt and Anthony Wordsworth, as well as one-time Town loanee Tyrone Barnett, who is on loan with the Shrimpers from Shrewsbury.
No surprise to me as what I have seen of him he is way too slow for this league and not that good tbh. I doubt very much he will play for us again.

I think that is one thing even the Mick McCarthy doubters must agree with......, Mick must have the ability to see, through training, who genuinely won't do a job for him on the bigger stage. Similarly with Jack Marriott.
Agent: He scored 285 goals in 8 games for Woking?
MM: Yes. He's still sh*t though.

Unlike Super Roy......., "I know, Let's sell Rhodes!"

Regarding Malarczyk......., would've liked him to have just a bit more game time than he did. Maybe something would've clicked for him. I mean you don't make the Poland U21 side if you can't play.

 Yep we might as well get rid of nearly all the players mick brought in on loan, we do have some real scunt players that need shipping out, just keep Foley, Feeney, Pringle, Sears, Pitman, Bru, Scuse, Bishop, Murphy, Berra, Smith, Chambers, Mcgoldrick, Bart & Gerks, ship the rest out at the end of the season, and start looking in the lower leagues for some real talent that want to step up and prove themselves.

Even if he was good enough he still wouldn't have a chance to play. Mick has his untouchables in back 4 who are never going to get dropped so better for Malarczyk, Yorwerth, Clarke and Emmanuel to find new clubs.

That may or may not be the case Mach but one thing is certain Malarczyk aint good enough to dislodge any of them and never will be.

Certainly why I'll never make a football manager. That's ^^^ my opinion on Tommy Smith.

It has often been mine too Marko, but fair do's to Smith, this season he has made very few of those glaring errors that had become his trademark and has probably been our most consistent defender.

Smith made many costly mistakes last season, but this year he's definitely stepped it up and I agree that he's been our most consistent defender. Sadly it's Berra who's been a bit dodgy. Although I don't think having a midfield that can't pass well at all don't do the defence any favours either.

....Question is, can any player in our team actually pass the ball and keep possession?

The ones who can have been injured all/most of the season. McGoldrick, Bishop and Fraser being the main ones. Hopefully Pringle and Feeney feature more, but the rest of our midfielders are pretty poor, especially when linking with the defence which leads us to hoofing it all the time.

one of my biggest gripes about our back four is that none of them are comfortable on the ball. The second thing about them is they are all very pedestrian. This gas to be an area which Mick payday attention to in the summer I think.

Despite what people may think about him Johnathon Douglas can control and pass a ball, has the odd lapse but rarely gives the ball and always looks to play it on the bloody floor.
