Daryl Murphy Injury ....
According to the BBC...Town are waiting to learn the extent of the injury sustained by Daryl Murphy against Switzerland on Friday.
The 33-year-old striker has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's game against Slovakia on Tuesday after injuring his calf.
"He has a tear in his calf, but we have no timescale," Ipswich physio Matt Byard told the club website.
"We are looking to get him scanned again on Tuesday," he continued. "We will know more from there."
Ipswich face Wolves on Saturday as they continue their push for the play-offs, with the club just four points away from sixth place.
"Needless to say, there has to be a concern about him for the weekend," Byard added.
This could be bad news and highlights how risky it is to play International Friendlies so close to the end of the season.

Re: Daryl Murphy Injury ....
To me, this season Murphy has been a huge disappointment. I am wondering if he should have been sold when the rumours were swirling. He hasn't produced anywhere near last seasons tally. Mcgoldrick has also been a passenger this year, in and out of the squad due to injuries. Still, we have a few games to go before it either falls apart or we get to play a couple of post season games

Passenger or not we could do without injuries to key players at this time of the season.

Murphy may have been disappointing by his high standards from last season but he is still the leading scorer at the club, add to that the work load he puts in that others don't, I have nothing against pitman and he has done quite well but his work ethic comes nowhere near Murphy's. When we are defending set pieces I think it also goes unnoticed with many fans just how often it is Murphy that gets his head to the ball to clear it away, he becomes another CB which is invaluable, again pitman & Sears are a waste of time in this department. He would have had a far more productive season if the supply to him from the Midfield had been half decent.

Re: Daryl Murphy Injury ....
Murph has only resumed normal service with regards to his usual goals tally in a season.
Looking outside the box a little regarding the squad, we are fast approacing the time where quite a few of our more experienced players will needing to be replaced. Chambers, Berra, Murphy, Varney, Douglas, McGoldrick, are all the wrong side of 30yrs and our major prblem us that so many of these ageing players are all due for replacement around the same time. 5-6 players out of a first team squad is a lot to consider replacing over one or two seasons, IMHO . The squad is ageing and we still have very few replacements who have tasted regular senior football.

Mcgoldrick will play instead and maybe, just maybe, we will play it on the ground!!Charnwood wrote:According to the BBC...Town are waiting to learn the extent of the injury sustained by Daryl Murphy against Switzerland on Friday.

One reason why you take a dislike to internationals, it puts our players at risk of injury and on the inactive roster. As others have put it, Murphy has been a pale imitation of last season and has been nowhere near as successful as some would have envisaged. Had this occurred at this stage last season it would have been a major issue and while we hope to have him back sometime soon for the business end of this campaign it at least provides others with a chance to go into attack (during his omission) and show what they can produce.

Absolutely spot-on - can't blame Murphy (or any of the other strikers) for not scoring much given the appalling lack of service and creativity they get.bluemike wrote:Murphy may have been disappointing by his high standards from last season but he is still the leading scorer at the club, add to that the work load he puts in that others don't, I have nothing against pitman and he has done quite well but his work ethic comes nowhere near Murphy's. Re: Daryl Murphy Injury ....
Think that's more than harsh on Sears , as he is left up field as he has the pace to worry the opposition and means they have do defend against him , so he is doing a job for the team as lets face it he does not have the height to be defending in the box , so a disingenuous view of him as a waste of time there Mike..imo..!!bluemike wrote:Murphy may have been disappointing by his high standards from last season but he is still the leading scorer at the club, add to that the work load he puts in that others don't, I have nothing against pitman and he has done quite well but his work ethic comes nowhere near Murphy's. Maybe waste of time was not the best way to define it but I still stand by the fact that Murphy is far more effective at defending than any of the other strikers, add to that he scores more goals too.larrylamb wrote:Think that's more than harsh on Sears , as he is left up field as he has the pace to worry the opposition and means they have do defend against him , so he is doing a job for the team as lets face it he does not have the height to be defending in the box , so a disingenuous view of him as a waste of time there Mike..imo..!!bluemike wrote:Murphy may have been disappointing by his high standards from last season but he is still the leading scorer at the club, add to that the work load he puts in that others don't, I have nothing against pitman and he has done quite well but his work ethic comes nowhere near Murphy's.
