I haven't played for over year now: wonky shoulders and a bad back are a curse at present. I haven't given up hope though.

I've played for years BB but more so since I retired, it's my lowest HC so far and takes some holding onto but even so I always look forward to playing. Back and knees is my problem but I guess that's all to do with age..

Where did you play, was it in Ipswich...

I guess this is out of order on the footie thread but if you get back into it and ever fancy playing in one of the ITFC Golf Days let me know. I think they have a couple each year, one at Stoke by Nayland and another at Ufford Park. In fact I believe they had their Spring Meeting last week during the International break.

That's very kind of you Charnwood and I will certainly bear it in mind if I start playing again.

I was a member at Woodbridge for several years but let it drop when I wasn't playing enough to justify the fee. I I played all over the place after that with pals: Fynn Valley, Waldringfield, Seckford mainly.

Woodbridge, that's where Charlie Woods plays isn't it?.... I've not played any of those you mentioned but I have played quite a few over your way inc Purdis Heath, Rushmere, Felixstowe, Aldeburgh, Bury St Edmunds, Diss, Stowmarket and of course Stoke by Nayland.......all when I used to be a member at Colchester GC.

Definitely the reverse in my father in laws case. His golfing trips and weekends weren't exactly "par for the course", as a very expensive private investigator found out. He should've stuck with the golf; would've been far cheaper than what it's costing him now!

Should add, my wife's real dad was a gem, ran marathons for charity etc, but unfortunately vascular Parkinson's got him early. The new father in law, "the golfer!"; full of wind & pish from the day I met him.

Late match thoughts from me.

The game was played in the subdued atmosphere and events on the pitch weren't really exciting. Both sets of fans particularly Town were lazy throughout the game with the little intention to sing and make this afternoon more lively.

Looked like end-of-season game in the atmosphere of picnic. Wolves seemed as if their season was over. They certainly miss their firepower from last season which is the reason why this campaign has been disappointing for them.

I was quite optimistic before the game when I found out our line-up and due to that I expected a promising performance. But it wasn't particularly pleasing. Yes we dominated more them, yes we showed a bit of endeavour but there was always something missing. Various factors. Lack of killer passes in their half, inability to unlock their cohesive back four, maybe lack of belief, stiff central midfield and unfortunately lack of quality which is the case time and time again.

As for that lack of quality. Wolves were average at very best today if not poor therefore the game ought to have been won. Central midfielders not joining the action when we were going forward was quite irritating. Take Feeney for example. Skillful player but he hasn't had much support from Skuse and Douglas.

Skuse the player whom I'm not the fan. He was really impressive in his holding role, won a few good balls but unfortunately completely lacked the ability to go forward. He had one shot only on in the second half which was blocked up by their defender.

Douglas who is an easy scapegoat figure for some. Yes disappointing today but I still believe this is Mick who does instruct him to be focused mainly on the defensive aspects. I was quite glad last summer when we signed an attacking midfielder in himself but his Town career is a different story in comparison to the Brentford one.

If both of them Skuse and Douglas had been adventurous today the game would have given us 3 points. That's my view.

Bialkowski was untroubled for almost entire match but when called upon he showed a great reflex in blocking Doherty's shot from close range by his leg. That was the solitary real save he had to make and Wolves fans had to wait for that opportunity 75 minutes.

Wolves' keeper Ikeme was busier than Bialkowski but not too much more. Great reflex too and agility when winning the battle with Pitman as latter robbed their defender off the ball before half time.
Despite dominating the game for the most of it we certainly missed something in front of their goal and what was significant too we were easy to read. Really predictable. We lacked the element of surprise, lacked acceleration in our attacking attempts and unfortunately we were predictable too.

This time last year Freddie Sears was banging goals that were extremely helpful and important as we were on the post-New Year slide. We wouldn't have finished in the top 6 without his goals so my question to Mick is: why Sears has been wasted this season? Whether we play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 he is being wasted. Even when on 4-3-3 he spends too much time on the wing. Play him upfront Mick !

Second half substitutions and arrivals in Bru and Varney didn't make even a slight bit of impact. Varney was totally anonymous and taking Pitman off wasn't the correct decision.

Feeney and Pringle must start every game until the end of the season. They both give us a bit of movement but their efforts would be far more fruitful if they had the support in central midfield. I certainly would like them to be with us next season + good forward thinking central midfielder. Some may say Bishop should be fully fit then but people put too much expectation in him. He's still very young and needs more experience.

Even though we were fine today at a couple of aspects I don't think it will be enough for the remaining very hard 3 away games. Intent alone it may not be enough if we reproduce todays performance against Sheffield Wed, Middlesbrough and Derby. We may need a luck to get any points out of those.

Yes it was without a doubt the better away performance than Cardiff 3 weeks ago. Still feel a bit disappointed though as due to poor display by Wolves we ought to have taken the opportunity and grab 3 points.

".......we ought to have taken the opportunity and grab 3 points."

and how many times has this been said this season?

I'm. often accused of looking at Town through Blue tinted glasses but from what I've witnessed all this season other than the Brentford and Leeds games we have struggled to make an impact on games. In short we are simply not good enough to push for play offs , let alone promotion.
