Re: It is hard to remain positive....
1 point from the last three home games against teams well below us in the league; one goal gifted to us. Whilst we have possibly performed better away, the overall quality and standard of football has been rapidly deteriorating at home - which most supporters base their judgements on.
Overall the club may be more stable, with a business model that ME and MM? are apparently content with; internal reviews conducted and departments streamlined, continued investment in the Academy, wages competitive etc. BUT what matters most to supporters, whose hard-earned cash helped create the off-field stability, is having belief that there exists a real ambition to progress - underpinned by realistic investment to improve squad quality and depth. None of that has happened, so from the heights reached last season, the only trajectory without that investment was going to be downwards. So, progress perhaps in off field areas, but little or none where it matters most to supporters, and no obvious indications that the situation is likely to change any time soon.

Re: It is hard to remain positive....
I think we do have to put into perspective where we actually are in the league right now though, as crap as we have been in recent weeks, and nobody is arguing that the football has been poor we are still 8th ! Yes it has gone backwards from last season but I think we are victims of our own success, it is repeatedly said that we only got into the play offs on the final day because of Derby's capitulation (which I disagree with by the way) so people can't have it both ways, if indeed it was a false position last term we are no worse off this time around are we. Which is it ?
We can argue all day long as to what the rights and wrongs with the club are right now, the Owner, the funding, the manager, the playing squad, the fans, the cost of a pie, the quality of the bog roll, the colour of paint on the turnstiles, ticket prices, you name it but turning against every man and his dog is so counter productive and will only make it worse. To see idiots turning on eaqch other in the North stand just about says it all, for those that persisted in singing "we're f**king bored" then f*ck OFF home, it is that simple but they are so thick they continue to spoil it for those who choose to be there to get behind the players come what may, it what fans do after all.
There has been numerous threads asking for MM's head but this resident knobhead is still behind MM as I believe, no I know, we ain't getting anyone better given the resources at his disposal to get this club competing at the right end of the table. Perhaps those who sit at home and know it all and write incoherent one line posts slagging off the club and team at every opportunity can come up with some idea's, answers and options as to how we would be better getting rid of the manager after his FIRST blip in over 3 years, I don't expect D.H.Lawrence but a few posts we can actually read and understand and debate would be great.

Re: It is hard to remain positive....
We're not 19th though. We're 8th. That's what matters at the end of the season, not the form table. If we manage to finish in 8th I'd say that's not a bad season, sure it's worse than last year but it's still not a bad place to finish and leaves us in a place where we can challenge again next season. Last seasons success has gone to everyone's head.rossi wrote:actually, our form in 2016 would indeed put us around 19th position, so I do not get your argument there. It's not just a case that progress hasn't been made as you put it, the fact is that this season we have regressed.J4ck22 wrote:Because it's one season where progress hasn't been made, big deal. I know at Ipswich we like instant success all the time, but it's hardly the end of the world if we come 8th or 9th is it now? Yeah it hasn't quite worked this year, oh well we'll just try again next season. We're still at the right end of the table yet your reaction alone would have me thinking we were 19th.rossi wrote: How come?? The fact is that this season we will have scored less goals, conceded more goals, and accumulated less points than last season.
And that after most fans freely admitted that the squad available for this season was much stronger than last.
Performances have steadily got worse and the football on offer is horrendous.
Steady progress made over the last few seasons has not just stopped, it is actually in regression.
So - many fans are now voicing their concerns.
Now, please tell me, how the hell is that an overreaction?
That's why it's an overreaction. Maybe I'm just too easy going to be an Ipswich fan and need to have a reason to be angry and waving my arms in the air all day demanding success and entertainment every day. That sounds much more fun.
You're perfectly entitled to your opinion that fans are overreacting of course, but I think you're in a minority.

We've gone backwards because we didn't strengthen the squad. As we all know we had the best opportunity in years to get promoted last season, but instead of strengthening the squad ME/MM were content with what we had. We didn't have to spend millions...we just needed a few more players for depth. Fast forward to this season...depth again comes to mind. We lose one player in Fraser and the team capitulates. I really don't care anymore if MM stays, but FFS ME give him some money! It's getting harder to maintain 'hope' for the future. I fear a downward spiral for ITFC if things aren't sorted sooner rather than later.bluemike wrote:I think we do have to put into perspective where we actually are in the league right now though, as crap as we have been in recent weeks, and nobody is arguing that the football has been poor we are still 8th !
