Open letter to Marcus Evens.......

Post by loudnproud » Wed Apr 13, 2016 10:11 am

Dear Marcus.
It is with great sadness that i am compelled to write this open letter to you, But i do so in the hope and desire of thousands of ITFC football fans of this fantastic football club you very kindly "Bailed out" and now own.

We understand that you are more of a rugby fan than football and we get that. Each to their own i guess. However you are an owner of not only a great football club, But a custodian of some of the best supporters in the land. Our dreams and aspirations are firmly in your hands.

You came into this club as a rookie of knowing very little and we accept that previous managerial changes and your choices were no doubt part of it. We supported it and again hoped and prayed you had got it right. We accept that indeed you did support these managers by providing funds from your own pocket to make progress. This we applaud for it showed to us that you were as committed as those that renew their season tickets every season and turn up at PR.

Both of these managers let you down heavily, Yet spent your money unwisely. One an egotistic bully who believes he is better than anything on this earth, The other whos heart was simply not in it any more.

Your appointment of Mick McCarthy was a massive boost. For now we have a manager who knew how to get us out of this division. Now we have a manager who wants to be back in the Premiership.

You supported two fools and gave them money and got burnt. The 2015/16 season is effectually finished. Most of us blame your manager for his tactics and lack of real ambition.....To a certain extent this is true. A growing number of us lay the blame firmly at your door for not supporting this manager as you had previously. We do however understand why. Once bitten, twice shy and all that....But at what price Marcus? Supporters are the life and blood of any football club and we are turning our backs on the club in droves.

If you are no longer willing to finance your purchase and support your manager, Then perhaps it is time for you to come out and say so. Supporters are not fools. We know when we are being taken for a ride.....enough is enough.
Your manager has taken us as far as he can go within the constraints placed upon him...He will move on, even though he often claims his affection and good working relationship with you.

This club needs your support more than ever now. Your apparent refusal to financially support the playing staff will demise it further. MM will call it a day and any new manager, with the exception of "Journey men" will be reluctant to take the job on. You know this to be true, Like ive said....supporters are not fools.

Sorry to be blunt in all this Marcus, But its time to "put up or sell up" It matters not at this stage to us. Yes we know its a tough league to get out of, Parachute payments to clubs coming down are making it tougher. Clubs of equal and below our stature have done it...Leicester,Burnley,Watford,Qpr to name but a few.

Give the supporters some hope and passion. Give us a reason to come back to PR. Show some ambition then perhaps you will then own a premiership football club to be proud of.

A well balanced piece and I sincerely hope that it gets the response that it deserves.

I think you have it absolutely right, it is the lack of effective, honest communication coming out of PR that is the most frustrating thing.

Ultimately if fans stay away then the income the club brings in drops considerably. That surely has to have ME a little concerned?

Here's where you can send your open letter. It is the email address for ME's PR dept.

Nice one Dave, a balanced and honest view.

I have a few Wolves supporter friends, and they keep reminding me that Mick can play fast attacking football, But he has to have the players that can do it.
The financial constraints on MM is holding him back from taking us to the next level. (this is their view)

we've lost out on players because Evans won't go the extra 200k or so, but these players would have improved the team immensely, but we wasn't brave enough for go that last step.

Yes some of the players wanted more than we were gonna give, but there were a few that had agreed wages, and their parent clubs wanted a few 100k more in fee's, personally I'd rather spend the loan money on a couple of decent signings and build a team over a few years(AL La Burley) than pay other clubs to borrow their players for half/whole season.

ME must now back MM or he will be off(Villa springs to mind with a £60 million parachute payment for the first year has to be tempting)

A very well reasoned letter, and voices opinions that I am sure are shared by many supporters.
I doubt very much if you will receive any sort of reply, yet alone one with any details of intention going forward; but please post if you do get a reply whatever it is.

It's a good and well written letter Dave, the only problem is I doubt very much the intended recipient will even ever get to know about it, let alone read or reply to it.

Remain positive on that reply, LnP. My son has a letter, handwritten by Arsene Wenger, framed on his wall. Ok, the pie stall guy probably wrote it , but that's besides the point....... Positive!

A well written, thoughtful, letter straight from the heart. It represents the thoughts, wishes and frustrations of us all, and dserves an equally meaningful response. Sadly, that's unlikely; and highlights the Club's unwillingness or inability to communicate with supporters effectively. I don't consider Ian Milne's recent media comments, which were bland, repetitive and unconvincing to be sufficient, particularly when asking supporters to 'stick with us'.

Come on Marcus say something ffs, even if it's goodbye!

TWTD is a mixed bag. One day you can get some decent discussion and articulate response, the next it's an abundance of horse-play and adolescent behavior from the same select few.

Applaud the author for taking the actions undertaken but whether Evans either acknowledges it, or indeed receives it, is open to debate.

Guessing there must have been a good many letters and emails sent in his direction from disgruntled supporters over time but what quantity of them actually get reviewed or even reciprocated (?)

To be fair there are some ok posters on TWTD and my initial retort was probably unfair, there are also some who choose to ridicule everything.

Good letter Dave and like most i wholeheartedly agree with. Hope you get some kind of a responce as it merits at the very least a reply from himself or one of the senior members in the higher ecelons at PR.

I remain very apathetic about everything Town related recently, but it has to be said under Mick we HAVE come all long way.

given decent financial backing BB I'd say yes. Whether I could stomach anymore hoof ball ( IF he played it with better quality in the squad ) remains to be seen

That must be a male and female thing. According to my wife, I've got selective hearing also. I can't help it that when she speaks on a Saturday night, she sounds like Gary Lineker...... That's all I hear.

I hope Marcus Evans was at the Fulham game !!!. We just don,t have the quality to break down teams like Rotherham, Brentford, Bristol City, Fulham etc. etc etc. It is a serious issue that we must buy in some quality players now. McCarthy can not even muster up any explanations for such a dismal performance again. When we can not put in a decent cross or deliver a corner then questions have to be asked. Sloppy passing and silly mistakes still evident. Alot of supporters had already left by the time we managed to score.
