Foxes nearly there!
Spurs drop 2 pts vs WBA tonight.
Does this mean Leicester only need one more win to be uncatchable?

Re: Foxes nearly there!
This could represent the biggest surprise in recognized soccer since Greece won the European Championships in 2004. Have arrived from nowhere to be on the verge of being champions of England and can't recall a scenario like this since Nottingham Forest in '78.
Great advert for the British game if it comes to pass but still one or two teams have an opportunity to take the league if they make an error. Add to this Crystal Palace as potential FA Cup winners, this could be the greatest end of season honors achievement since 1995.
O'Neill put together a hard-working team that accomplished some significant achievements from say 1996 - 2001, but this will beat all expectations if they can see this through.

Just remarkable. I have had people over here who don't follow soccer asking me what is going on with "Lychester". Hard not to root for the Foxes.
Just don't see Leicester losing the next three while Spurs win 2 and draw one to tie everything up, although that would be over the top!

I especially liked the Cleveland Browns comparison.

Many connections with Leicester, and can't quite beleve what they're on the verge of achieving. Brilliant for the city, and for football in general - think most neutrals are rooting for them, and willing them over the line. Certainly makes a change to the usual end of season landscape, with the usual suspects!
As a random thought, would love to see Sears played in a similar role to Vardy. Not suggesting a like-for-like quality comparison, but there are similarities, should MM chose to maximise FS' abilities.

Re: Foxes nearly there!
Totally agree it will be a fantastic achievement and I think very good for football in this Country.
However I would say that whilst they have spent nowhere near what the big Five clubs have, Leicester 's squad is by no means on a small budget. It's not a case of "little" Leicester, but it is a fantastic achievement and I'm really chuffed for the Club and their fans. What a wonderful season.they have had.

Re: Foxes nearly there!
It's manic in Leicestershire at the moment with the whole county so excited about City's success. Even after Spurs hiccup last night there's still a mood of unbelievability about it with some still thinking somethings likely to go tits up.
Whilst it would be great for Leicester to win at Man Utd on Saturday to seal the Title, some season ticket holders want Spurs to hammer Chelsea on Saturday whilst Leicester lose at Old Trafford so the title can be won at The King Power Stadium the following weekend.
If I were a City fan I think I'd take the "bird in the hand".
In some ways I'm disappointed I shan't be around to join in the celebrations.

Spot on, Lucy. My nephew was at the game last night - a very sad journey home, and tearful Facebook comments! But we've all been there and suffered.

It definitely is brilliant for Lychester City , (nice, Ohio, like it) and good for them, but I personally think that because of this, Arsene Wenger needs to step down as Gunners boss. With Chelski, Man Shyte-ey, Manure, and Tottenham (last night) all chucking it big time, Wenger should've had his troops on this. Not saying the Gunners have any God given right to the title, but I do watch them closely due to my son being a fanatic, he's wanting the 15/16 season over!

Re: Foxes nearly there!
You will recall when Norwich City were present at the top of the league for a majority of the 1992 / 93 season and even looked likely title winners until the last remaining weeks of that season , and if Leicester win this league (as looks likely) this will be a greater surprise or achievement that had Norwich done so in '93.
Problem is, by the end of summer or start of new season not many outside of their own club are going to give it much further thought. In other words, it could well be a movie of the week scenario.
Take nothing away from them, they're on the verge of something outstanding and not one person outside of the club would have provided them a chance back in August, but where do they go from here.
Going to be involved in champions league endeavors and there could be some level of aftershock next season where they fall away badly - having then realized what they have accomplished and the burden of expectation could be a huge factor against them.

It hurts, not gonna lie

My analogy is a 16 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament winning the whole thing.

Re: Foxes nearly there!
Got to admit, getting extremely fkn pi$$ed off with Leicester fans "betting" stories now. Everyone in Leicester has had a special bet they've cashed in. Everyone and their effin dug jumping on the "I had a bet" bandwagon. I'm actually quietly hoping they win the title so these shytebags who cashed in early can be feckin spewing.

Love for Leicester to win it at Manchester United that would be a nice slap in the face for the Manchester United fans who think their team is the be all and end all of football

Re: Foxes nearly there!
The latter have won so much in recent years it'll be just another game for them. Leicester City may have their day in the sun but ideally, teams would favor winning a championship at a rival side. As both Nottingham Forest and Derby are in a different league that is not possible but once again, they're on the verge of something that nobody could have envisaged before start of season.Watership Down wrote:Love for Leicester to win it at Manchester United that would be a nice slap in the face for the Manchester United fans who think their team is the be all and end all of football
Remember being at the Old Filbert Street ground in the 1990's and they'd have players like Steve Walsh, Claridge and Izzet for them and even then they did very well for a club of their stature, but this is without question the greatest honor coming their way they can ever hope to achieve.

Furthermore we don't know what's going on regards individual lives. Wouldn't take offense that no-one found humor in what was presented, it's only that personal effects may intrude on all other things.
Bluemike, how do you expect people to react given the season we have just endured ? This year has been sh*t and there's been very few positives to take from the last eight months as we await the close of season - and lo and behold many are expecting much of the same next time around, if there are no changes to relevant personnel within the near future.
Can't speak for all, but from a personal perspective, fighting depression with depression is only going to compound a situation.

Re: Foxes nearly there!
That is your opinion, one I disagree with SJ, clearly you are not party to the away day experience which for me has been a very good and enjoyable season, meeting up with friends on a regular basis, pre match meal and drinks, putting the world of football to rights, then enjoying the atmosphere among fans who really what to be there and realise exactly what it is they are getting and why. I have celebrated Eight away wins this season which is progress on last season reagrdless of what anybody may tell you. People will always be negative and "Glass half empty" seems to be the way they live life, well good luck with that one, I choose to try and enjoy life, especially my Saturdays after a hard weeks work, the last Two and a half years have told me the result of a football match really means f*ck all in the grand scheme of things, just ask our friend Floors. Meeting up with Mach on a saturday at different grounds gives me a buzz, to have such a great friend, and no we don't agree on all things ITFC but I think he is a top guy and that in itself is worth travelling hundreds of miles to the likes of Middlesbrough & Bolton just to meet up and have a laugh.

Re: Foxes nearly there!
Leicester have issued a whole lot of merchandise in readiness for their expected championship victory at Manchester United tomorrow. All right, it's unlikely they'll mess things up at this late stage but in this game all things are possible.
Someone's going to look damn stupid if they blow out now and Tottenham get the points they require and take it on goal difference. (You should never issue club honors merchandise until after the team has accomplished it)
