Good !!!!! I really couldn't give a flying f*ck about the Republic of Ireland, hopefully we get a fully fit Didsy at our disposal next season then, I also hope Murphy has his arse firmly stuck to the subs bench the whole tournament too.

Would prefer it is Murphy found his goal touch and attracted a few major offers myself

Think that train left the station around this time last year!Dubai Blue wrote:Would prefer it is Murphy found his goal touch and attracted a few major offers myself
Pleased for him getting one final shot; but if he's still with us next season, want him back injury free and not knackered. 'Unused sub' will achieve that!

Well I'm always reading that a striker thrives on confidence about all else. Ireland are unlikely to get out of their group anyway so a couple of goals in the group games would give him the right mindset to start off next season IMO.
We shall see..

Re: Republic squad announced
I suppose any player could be injured at any time, look at Ryan Fraser. Could it be more the age thing in Murphys case? Don't wish to be negative, but I think Daryl Murphy 14/15 ain't ever going to happen again, opinion of course, so I think it matters not if he plays. Plays and gets injured, so be it......., but plays and comes back fine, good, but the form has gone I feel.
But, like you said Mike a few weeks ago, reading reports and seeing snippets misses out all the other stuff players can produce during the 90. Maybe the player is still a big asset, but just doesn't find the net as much.
Just read through all that......, ^^^...., what a fkn windbag eh?

There is no doubt his goals are a bonus Marko, it is after all what strikers are judged on but it is what hje brings to the team in other areas that makes him a must for us, he brings something to the team that Sears, Pitman or Didsy most definitely cannot bring.

Read this on TWTD yesterday. Murphy included to squad, McGoldrick omitted.
Obviously the latter hasn't made enough appearance over the last twelve months to warrant an inclusion. Not only that, but has been disappointing for us - even when available - and injuries or otherwise, has been a pale imitation of the player many once recognized.
Murphy himself has had a poor season particularly following his exploits of a year ago, and while that was never going to be surpassed this time around he's going to be a more favorable selection for the Irish team manager.

Agree that Murph provides MM with options; however, this can be double edged. There's no doubt that, last season, his presence often resulted in direct - hoofball - football; although there's more to him than that. Whilst he was well below previous stellar standard, this was due in part to lack of creative midfield quality, and the 'pragmatic' approach MM was forced to adopt - not universally welcomed by supporters wanting to be entertained etc! But needs must at the time.
