MM reportedly in the hunt to take Adam Forshaw - central or right midfielder - on loan from M'boro. Others, notably (inevitably!) Shef Wed, also interested. Another midfielder? Width/pace higher priority??

Guys, the "colour" thing is in Grants favour. I actually know a few Hibs "Norwich" fans due to the green in the strip. I associate yellow and green with Celtic first and foremost, and I hate that club more than the feckers from West Edinburgh......, but on the whole, I think he'll be given a very warm welcome into Easter Road. I feel like I'm being a bit of a Judas here!
Don't worry, first mistake, I'll give it, "Aw you, budgie bstd!"
Just a short side story here, YEARS ago when I was in my 20's and wearing football tops publicly, a mate from school spotted me wearing the blue of an Ipswich shirt at the St James shopping centre in Edinburgh......, tap on shoulder, "Marko mate, what the fuuu...., oh. It's not Rangers!"

Re: Rumours Thread.
I too think we'll finish in the lower half. It will be interesting if MM plays any of the youngsters regularly. I believe he's said he sees Chambers as his preferred right back so I guess the young defenders won't get a chance. I'd be happy with a lower half finish if we use the season to bring on the youngsters if they have the ability to control and pass a ball better than last season's squad.ashfordblue wrote:: I have a sneaky feeling that this season we will be struggling near the foot of the table, especially with our current old back four, .
However, there is plenty of time yet, and there will be prem players available on loan - and some good ones at that - in the coming weeks. It will be a sign of ME's and MM's intent as to whether we'll find the money for their wages. At the end of the day, I don't care where we finish (relegation excepted) as I don't think we stand a chance of promotion; I just want some entertaining footy. That has been in short supply in recent seasons. But I'll wait and see rather than condemn before the season has started.

Re: Rumours Thread.
well ME said he would be spending some money, and he has - but only around 750k. It's actually more than I expected him to spend.ashfordblue wrote:And it looks like my words of wisdom about ME's spending will be true, Mick stating he will settle for loans, FFS there's going to be one almighty fight in the championship with the relegated teams from the premiership, and micks talking loans, Villa & Newcastle are spending mega bucks and I mean millions to get back up and we spend £750'000

with what we have at our currant disposal squad wise, unless there's some budding Ronaldo's in the youth section, I have a sneaky feeling that this season we will be struggling near the foot of the table, especially with our current old back four, where a solid RB is long over due, we will need a team like Iceland's who start clogging into the other team with brute force tactics, and disrupt their opponents game flow, and see how many of the opposition we can injure to gain some advantage, but it would be a bit more entertaining than the hoof ball we've had for god knows how long, where the ball stays in the air for 70 minuets of the game and gives one a neck ache to boot, so Marcus lets see some real investment as promised, some 7 figure sums would be nice, otherwise the gates will be lower than Maidstone United, 2000 if your lucky, and you will lose the fans respectability once and for all, so come on back up your comments and invest ok.
But you're right - it seems even Huddersfield have more ambition for next season than we do, judging by the additions they have made. Blackburn are another team that have added well. And with Bournemouth having just sold Ritchie, I cannot see them making Fraser available for loan this season. Guess it's gonna be another long hard disappointing season.

I'd be surprised if we made the top 10 if Evans doesn't spend more. It sounds like MM is just waiting to see what players will be available for loans...which in fairness will cost money. It's a dangerous waiting game though, IMHO. I think it's fair to say this won't be a rebuilding year for ITFC. I also feel the championship will be the most competitive it ever has with the current teams involved. We'll struggle if MM plays the same tactics...which makes it even more important to get some talent.

Re: Rumours Thread.
Bottom line McCarthy should not be allowed another season as manager of Ipswich Town Football Club, Marcus Evans should ideally vacate and take his business "interests" elsewhere. Not all eyes are on the European Championships, and in a short time it will be back to domestics and what are we realistically hoping to achieve ? Brought in a few loan players (obscure names that some struggle to recognize) but little other than that. Outstanding, an owner who won't spend any damn money when it's blatantly obvious the need for replacements, and with it, continue with a manager who many don't even want and will only revert to frustrating game play and mundane tactics. Not so much a pessimist but a realist - I sincerely don't envisage we're going to be making any further progress than what was "achieved" the recent past season.

Just looking at TWTD. Not much going on, but a couple of read-between-the-lines stories.
Cameron Stewart has been given a glimpse of a lifeline by Mick (he might still be part of his plans) and he's thinking of putting Bishop out wide. When I read that I see Mick still going with the Skuse- Douglas CM partnership.
It might not mean too much at the minute, but cant see a great deal of investment planned there .... just using whatever you have with perhaps a bit of square pegs- round holes thrown in.
I'm not expecting to see stupid money being thrown around, but hope over the next couple of months we can see some imaginative signings ( freebies or not) who might not get us in the top six, but can at least put a bit of zip and guile into the team.

MM's most interesting comments were regarding Liam Feeney - lots of 'between the lines' deductions there!

Re: Rumours Thread.
Well we are an optimistic lot lol. Still a few weeks to go yet and time for other new arrivals. If we have learnt anything over the last 3 years it is that MM does not do his business in public, players tend to arrive under the radar and out of the Blue when we least expect it. We have already signed 2 in Webster & Digby which gives us greater cover and options across the back, add to that the 2 young fullbacks and we seem well covered in that area now. Assuming we are keeping Murphy/Pitman/Didsy/Sears we are well covered in the striking options too, we have an army of central midfielders and with Bishop coming back into the fold that in itself is like a new signing.
I feel/felt we needed 4/5 new signings to compliment what we already have and we look on course to do that, clearly it is the wide areas where we need to strengthen and with us being linked to Forshaw & Harriott it is clear something will happen in this area even if it not those two that arrive. Andre Dozzell is like another new signing too and he will make big strides over the coming months. So for me get a couple of wide players in and we are fine and ready to go.

Here here blue Mike.
So much pessimistic people on here today. Look at Leicester winning the prem and Wales in semi , this shows that with good team spirit, 11 players who will die for the cause. A few star players like bishops didzy Sears and murph, we can do well again like the season before last.
we will add 3 or 4 more players and with the likes of bishop dozzell and didzy back its like 3 new signings. We did only finish 7th last year! And had all these players out injured.
Let's get behind the team likes Wales did, like Leicester do. Be that 12th man.
Believe

Don't worry, Olly, I'm believing, honest. But I'm believing ITFC will be 12th or below this season, (bet Derick?) I also wouldn't liken McGoldrick to a new signing as he will be crocked and in a wheelchair by August 31st.

Not sure that MM's trying to bring in winger(s); appears to be suggesting that, because they're like rocking horse poo, existing players might have to do a job. Or, that we won't be playing with wingers: eg MM's wingless wonders!
However, still plenty of time for all of this to be classic MM smokescreen. Also, the door seems to be at least ajar for Caneron Stewart to rehabilitate himself. Interesting times!

Re: Rumours Thread.
Reading a team related news item in the East Anglian Daily Times, McCarthy has it that he is "inspired" by the progress of the smaller nations at this years Euro Finals over in France, and will use it as incentive to succeed in next seasons league endeavors.
What McCarthy maybe fails to realize is you can't contrast a handful of results over the duration of three, four weeks : with an entire league campaign that stretches over nine months and takes up some 40 games. Best case scenario : Wales win the competition and we can expect first place and promotion in May (?)
He goes on to clarify that he will be expectant on loans and free players next season and alludes to, that he prefers having no money to spend, as it registers a greater achievement should the team do well when up against other names that have spent substantial amounts of money. (?)
Lo and behold McCarthy ends it by insisting if he were manager of a Champions League team - within the Champions League - he could do work on a satisfactory level. (?)
One of the writers for the publication had the last word by mentioning "Not a lot has changed"
