Its that yin and yang thing i guess. On one hand fate has been so unkind as to give us smith for 3 more seasons, on the other a massive boost by getting rid of mcgoldrick. Cant stand him and never have, over rated imo. Even when "fit" he looks laboured and lazy, likes to be given the ball all the time but can never be arsed to chase back when he loses it. Please be true and f off , c ya later over paid bench warmer.marko69 wrote:Just saw a white sporty Audi with number plate "D1 DSY" parked near the shitehole that is Shitecastle stadium. Sorry don't agree, seem to remember him giving a penalty away last game of season. If don't chase back you would never be in your own box. Mick has stated that he if we'd had Didsy then we would have been Top Six.ipswichtownNo1 wrote:Its that yin and yang thing i guess. Ok... along with Fraser and Bishop. So leave our best player alone! That's me with blue-tinted specs on and trying to be positive. In this mood, I might even believe in God and Santa Claus.
Being realistic, he would probably have been a fringe player and in/out of the team if fit. He's improved as a player by being injured and because we needed someone like him with a bit of flair.
I'm keen to see if these players ... Didsy, Bishop... when fit and given game-time will make a difference.
Micks talking now about entertaining the crowds and giving kids a chance .... so bring it on.
Not convinced because that's not Micks style, but if he's forced to do that , then at least thats ... different.
My feeling is that we'll start with an attitude of playing football with a bit of flair and youth... get a couple of spankings..... and then go back to familiar back 4, Skuse/Douglas as CM's and Murph up top as target man... but eager to see what happens.

Re: Rumours Thread.
I can recall another couple of times at least when he tracked back, last season's opening game at Brentford springs to mind when he was trying to hold thye ball in our corner flag with seconds left, only to lose it and watch Brentford go up the other end to score and deny us a deserved win. Or how about a couple of seasons ago at Reading when he tried to cushion a header back to gerken only to leave ot woefully short and lo and behold a reading striker nips in to grab the winner when a draw was the least we deserved. Stay up the bloody pitch Didsy please.derick_ipsw wrote:Sorry don't agree, seem to remember him giving a penalty away last game of season. If don't chase back you would never be in your own box. Did anyone see on SSN that Norwank have bid more than £10 million for Ross McCormack?
there was an add on bit that Town have enquired about his availability as well.
Will try to find the link for it.

Can't see this is even thinkable. We're not going to spend 10 million on a player. Good luck to Norwich blowing 10 million on one 29 year old player..... big chunk of parachute funds on just one player.K L Blue wrote:Did anyone see on SSN that Norwank have bid more than £10 million for Ross McCormack?

Re: Rumours Thread.
If they can afford the 10 mill, which they can, then it's not wasted parachute money. He's superb in the English Championship, and coupled up with the rest of their squad, they'll be back in the EPL soon with McCormack on board. Maybe surplus after that.
But....... He's not quite as prolific as Jordan Rhodes......., which means wee Jordan is worth £20 mill.
Why does it always come back to YOU, Roy? Tit.

As someone else put it, we aren't going to be bidding for players in the region of ten million. Norwich could maybe afford it but even then players at one club aren't always a success at another.
Best case scenario : City spend this figure on this one player alone and he proves to be an ultimate let-down (the team won't even see a promotion opportunity)

True, some players can fold at other clubs. But when a player can find the net in a poor team, and his stats prove that he's found the net regularly in almost every club he's been at, then I'll gamble that he'll do the job he's being bought for. If he goes to NoFuck, he'll finish top scorer, barring injury.

Having money sure start he'll don't mean getting quality in nor promotion. Ask Derby fans lol

Re: Rumours Thread.
This would be excellent news should we secure the signing of Kaikai who I am led to believe is a very good prospect and much thought of. Kaikai and Lamah would do very nicely for the wide berths in our team, assuming of course Lamah is in fact one of the two deals currently ongoing.Loan interest in Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai is understood to have been the reason Blues boss Mick McCarthy took in the Eagles’ 3-2 friendly victory at AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday.
The Blues are keen to bring the 20-year-old to Portman Road with the squad still short of wide players ahead of Saturday’s Championship opener against Barnsley.
Southwark-born Kaikai came through the youth system at Selhurst Park having joined the club as a 14-year-old.
The 5ft 11½ tall winger has so far made two sub appearances for the Eagles, one in the league, scoring a goal in the last minute of his debut, a 3-2 Capital One Cup defeat to Newcastle United.
Kaikai, who plays primarily on the right but can also operate on the left and in a central role, spent the second half of 2013/14 on loan at Crawley, making two starts and three sub appearances for the then-League One side.
The wideman, whose parents hail from Sierra Leone, spent the following season with Cambridge United in League Two and made 14 starts and 16 sub appearances, scoring six goals.
Last season Kaikai had two spells on loan with Shrewsbury in League One and made 25 starts and four appearances from the bench, scoring 12 times.
TWTD understands the Blues currently have ongoing moves for two players with one deal not too far from being done.
Speaking after Saturday’s final friendly against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, manager Mick McCarthy said he was confident of adding to his squad before Barnsley's visit: “I’m hopeful we’ll have somebody in before Saturday.”
Town have been targeting wingers all summer but so far with little success. Former loanee Liam Feeney joined Blackburn after the Lancastrians offered the 29-year-old a significantly better contract, while we understand the Blues were subsequently unable to agree personal terms with Rovers winger Elliott Bennett, despite the clubs having settled on a fee.
Thank god Bennett is not one of them, bloody hopeless waste of space, quite how he is in a position to turn down anything is beyond me but I am glad he has. MM has said all along we had to be patient with reagrd to new arribval, so lets hope the next few days sees us bringing in the 2/3 new faces we need to complete the squad.

Re: Rumours Thread.
Shrewsbury fans claim Kaikai's goals singlehandedly saved their club from the relegation in League One last season.
Yes it would be better but why can't we sign him or others permanently?

Re: Rumours Thread.
Who cares if it's only a loan deal, at least we'll get to see him in action should the club bring him in. Could turn out to be something of a disappointment but at least those in authority are showing enough initiative we're going out there and making enquiries.
Read some views within various places of relevance and the majority see this as a worthwhile addition should be bring him over. As before what one player may achieve at one team (particularly that of a different level league outfit) won't always work at another, but there's no harm in doing what is necessary to bring extra players in.

Grant ward - PERMANENT MOVE from Spurs.
Looks like about to be a done deal.
I don't know much about this player - but well thought of during his loan move at Rotherham.

Hard as some folks may try to find negatives in young Ward's signing, I see it as both highly positive - and a tad surprising! But that's how MM does his business. Well done to all involved in getting the deal over the line....and for real money! Hopefully at least one more in the pipeline.

Rotherham's young player of the year.... now ours, not a loanee ... good age to kick on in his career after a season in the Championship.... and a wide player which we need - square peg, square hole. Whats not to like about this? Very pleasantly surprised.

Re: Rumours Thread.
Great news. Obviously has ability, is young and is ours on a permanent. BTW we are now one of the highest 6 or 8 spending teams in this transfer window (although it's not closed yet). A big thank you to ME for backing MM and well done indeed MM and the team for keeping this under the radar until too late. I think there would have been other interested parties in relation to this lad also.

Re: Rumours Thread.
Herforder, there are bound to be some who find negatives to this or any other signing, some will even hate the fact we have signed someone because it ruins their agendas.
Anyway enough of the negativity, this is great news, not only have we brought another player in but we have actually signed him !!!! Surprising to say the least. He has good schooling at Spurs who have one of the best youth set ups around and having worked with Bryan Klug will knbow how to do things correctly.
He also fits the right side of our Midfield nicely or if needed can play Centre Mid too, hopefully he can suplly the ammo for our strikers to feed off while chipping in with a goal or two here and there. It also means Teddy Bishop can be freed up to play in his natural Central Midfield role and while I have no issue with teddy out wide this can only be a good thing too.
Suddenly we have signed three of our own players which for us is pretty good going, add to that a couple more loans shortly to arrive (hopefully Kaikai & Lamah) and we are well set and covered in all areas. How quickly things can change, if only some were more patient, we were always going to bring new faces in, it's just getting deals done without paying over the odds on wages etc, sometimes this takes longer than we all would like. Hopefully there will be a little less bed wetting around Suffolk in the coming days.

What I like about this signing is the lad started 35 games in the Championship last season so will have a good idea about how tough this league is.
Don't expect him to start on Saturday as he has been suffering from an injury for 3 weeks. Certainly it appears the Rotherham fans rated him and at £500,000 could turn out to be a bargain.

Sounds like a good bit of business. Now, if we can get a few more in we will be looking better equipped to take on the league. Webster, and hopefully Ward do look like the type of players we should be acquiring. Let's hope they work out for the best. COYB!
