Feel sorry for the bloke, but he has become a liability. Perhaps he should be excluded from MM's long-term thinking, such as it is.

Yip, spot on for me, BB......, Mick should eliminate all formations/tactics that include McGoldrick, forever, I'd say! But I too do feel sorry for the bloke. He's certainly inherited some slightly brittle bones from one side of his family.
As for getting rid of him, Hallam? To who? Who's going to take a punt on "Didsy" ?

Well obviously at the minute no one. But we missed yet another opportunity to get rid in the "window" of opportunity when he was fit. He'll be out for at least half the season now effectively. what a total waste of space.he is.

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
That's my point though......., who'd take a punt on a "fit" Didsy? 28 years old and injuries coming fast & furious. Each injury is no doubt going to be slightly worse than the last one. And with the type of player he is; (good dribbler outside the box, inside the box) ALWAYS potentially going to be brought down. Not good on a pair of glass legs.hallamblue wrote:Well obviously at the minute no one. But we missed yet another opportunity to get rid in the "window" of opportunity when he was fit. Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
I agree with Hallam, the guy is a bloody waste of space and wages too !!! Injury after injury after injury, I had been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt in recent weeks but please just p*ss off. Undoubtedly talented but one game a season is no bloody good to anyone.
It really irks me how some Town fans look on this guy as the messiah when he never plays for us, and yet players who turn out 40+ games a season and give their all take so much stick, he may have more ability than them but by christ i know who I would want in the trenches beside me. In actual fact I would rather have Varney here and that is no lie, at least he will be available to play games.
The good thing about this is that it has happened early enough for us to still bring someone else in, reading Micks comments today we can expect another player or two before the window shuts at the end of this month.

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
It's just as well the players don't get to view these pages, it's not like McGoldrick intentionally gets himself on the inactive roster. Been plagued with a number of unfortunate setbacks and ultimately hasn't been able to discover his previous stature.
Some people have short memories when the player had a very good season for us and developed an understanding with other forwards and contributed significantly over the course of the campaign. Can't dispute he's not the same individual as before but seems harsh when there's people lining up to castigate when all the player wants is to be fit and available and take to the field once more. (You got to offer some defense)

I think your use of 'wimp' sums him up perfectly Mike, added to the fact that he is not as good as he thinks he is.bluemike wrote:Short memories ? Are you serious ? Its a lifetime ago he contributed anything. I think the guy is a wimp, not unfortunate.

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
Just out of pure interest, how do you know how good he thinks he is?
Conversation about a certain player on a Hibs bus few seasons ago and someone said, "Aye, he's not as good as he thinks he is."
Someone else said, "how's that like?"
"Dribbling about, being greedy,"
"Aye, that's because he's surrounded by useless c*nts who are not even on the same ballpark as him."
Maybe a proper fit, non wimpy, Didsy, pisses all over the current team.
But, as you say Barmy....., through injury alone, a liability for sure.

'Wimp' perhaps more suited to a mentally weak, frightened individual. McG's weakness is consistently physical. He may be strong mentally to cope with so many consecutive injuries - but spending far too much time on he treatment table, whilst pocketing big bucks for only minimal payback makes him a professional liability. (Hope he was careful putting his socks on today!)

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
yes it would be good to get McGoldrick out the door .... and with a fee. Not going to happen.
Against the opinion flow.... if the guy is injured..... and prone to injury ..... is that his fault?
If you had a colleague who had a physical injury and couldn't do his job.... would you tell him to f*ck off? If it's an attitude thing.... coat me in cotton wool type thing.. Mental thing .... yes, you would have your doubts.... But if he's injured, hes injured!
And there's another flip side to this... did we do the proper research and medical testing when we got him? Forest offloaded him for free ( did they know something we didn't ) and we also turned down 7 million from Leicester . ITFC and Mick has to take some responsibility here. Why would a pro footballer who might get a Premiership deal and also play for his country fake an injury?
And for Mike who seems to want to see and enjoy only players give 100 %- whether they're sh*t or not- and also to have only' real' fans to support the Town.... well maybe one day you'll get it. It's called non-league football .... best fans in the world you genuinely support and follow the team wherever. Sorry, were such a disappointment to you. You'll get your real footballers also who do it only for the enjoyment and passion.
Not a fan of Didsy, but thought this thread was a bit rough on him not knowing the circumstances .

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
MM's post match comments seem to indicate that an operation will be required - leading to around 3 months' out. Confirmation on Monday.
I think comments on here are born out of sheer frustration that arguably our most technically gifted player is so injury prone; and with such a comparatively small squad of variable talent, his loss to the team is significant. Don't think there's any suggestion that he's faking the extent of his injuries, or is happy that they take him out of the game. Some may disagree, but I believe every player who pulls on the shirt for us gives 100% - some may be critical of body language, or perhaps imagine an attitude issue, but without being present at daily training sessions, or knowing the individuals concerned, that's no more than supporter speculation. All part of the game!
However, in McG's case a properly managed exit would be the ideal; but if that can't be achieved, then everything possible should be done to get him back to full fitness as quickly as possible. Short of cancelling his contract at significant cost, there's no realistic alternative - frustrating though it is.

Sitting in the services on the way home and saw this pile of nonsense ! Just wanted to ask where the f*ck have I mentioned real fans ? Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
Tang......., don't want to get overly involved with this......, but I run my own plumbing and heating business. If I had an employee who was calling in sick every few weeks/months....., I'd be looking to "legally" get rid of them, regardless of how good they were. Unfortunately, it's all about business at the end of the day. For me, and for what I've seen of Didsy, very good football player, but costing the club far too much money.tangfastic wrote:yes it would be good to get McGoldrick out the door .... and with a fee. If i had a colleague who colud not work im sure i would have sympathy however if i worked 2ith someone who did bare minimum and gets paid same or mor3 then id be pissed. Its itfc fault for not offloading this over rated cling on. He is no better than anyone else at itfc imo but gets supported like a king. Never fit to play, let alone fit enough to tie George Burleys boot laces, hes a true blue king.

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
This thread may be a little harsh in parts, but the truth of the matter is McGoldrick has not done enough since he joined. He had a good half a season (and that's all it was as he joined in January after scoring nearly 20 goals in the first half on loan at Coventry). He basically carried that form across to us and up to the end of the season continued scoring goals and was very good. From then on he has done very little other than keep the back pages of the EADT going with constant stories of his injury struggles.
Im sure hes one of our top earners, if not the top, especially after we turned down big money for him, at the time I didn't want tell sell I will be honest, in hindsight I would have loved to. Leicester signed Ulloa instead, and contributed more than I think McGoldrick would have done in my opinion, so they got lucky too!
Im just fed up of it now, hes talented yes, but messiah or some kind of god, no way. People that sit near me at PR constantly shout to say how "world class" he is and that hes the best player we have by a mile. I always argue and say well given the number of games he plays you can hardly even say he has an influence on the season, apart from taking a high wage away from someone we could get in who was more reliable. Hes had his chance, more than enough, now its gone past resurrecting, he will miss most of this season, lets not forget he also got injured in pre season, its always going to happen. And you know what, ive seen him play games in the past and he hardly looks interested. Prime example, MK Dons away last season, I was at the match and he came on as a 90th min sub, we were 1-0 up, he strolled around like he had played 120 mins and didn't even close the defender down on the ball, Sears had run his socks off the whole match. I just think he turns it on when he wants to but also is a little too relaxed in his style. Hes no longer the number 1 guy, and that annoys him, but he can never expect to be that on the injury table. Does he mean to get injured? No of course not, is that our problem? No its not. You give people a chance, 3 chances in his case, if he cant keep himself fit then he needs to go and think about his future, as we cant carry anyone, we don't have the depth to do that.

That is pretty much how I see the Didsy situation, I have to say I hear it at PR too, people around me proclaiming him to be something extra special and they all start singing his bloody name when all the other poor sods give their all every week ! There is no doubt when fit he is one of the most gifted players at the club but unfortunately we never see it. For once marcus Evans did what the fans want and that was to show ambition by keeping his "best players " Oh how I wish he had ignored the majority on this one.

Moving forward, I'm not sure Varney is an adequate or necessary replacement. Why not use the opportunity to give Dozzell plenty of playing time?

Completely different players, Varney is a target man and good in the air, probably cover should Murphy get injured, Dozzell is a midfielder but could probably do the Didsy role of sitting behind the strikers, given time of course.

Dozzell is physically very lightweight. He needs to get in the gym at the end of the season.

Re: FFS .....Get rid of this bloody SICK NOTE!
that McGoldrick game at MK.Dons was the one where he supposedly tore a hamstring when he back heeled the ball. Which is an extremely rare mechanism of injury for a hamstring. I think we should line him up against the changing room wall and shoot the barsteward and put him but mostly us out of our misery. Like you I'm fed up to the back teeth of the player. He really isn't worth it anymore !
