I'm sorry but I didn't realise you were privvy to the discussions that took place when we sold Murphy to Newcastle as it appears to be certain that we didn't ask for this Armstrong kid, although in reality maybe we did only to be told that a deal had already been struck with Barnsley so we were in no position to insist on anything at all. The club did very good business in getting 3 Million rising to 4 if they go up and only a fool would have turned that down given that he is 34 at the end of the season. I still maintain none of us know what players we may or may not have been trying to sign but to say the going rate becomes the market rate is total nonsense and very short sighted and in fact is everything that is wrong with football these days. You and others may be happy to see obscene amounts of money being wasted on average players but I am so pleased we didn't do it, what is being said here is that we should have paid what 3+ million for Conor washington or Marley Watkins ? What utter nonsense that is.
I believe ME leaves the day to day running of the club to others but as MM has said numerous times they talk pretty much on a daily basis which I personally don't have a problem with.
You are right in that Mr Holland has every right to air his views just as I and ohters have every right to air ours and mine is that he is one of these attention seekers, he believes the club was being run correctly for years and despite our financial situation not really changing that much he now diagrees with it LOL, that makes no sense. No doubt many people do think the same way as Mr Holland, god knows we read enough about how we should be doing things differently, it doesn't mean those people are right at all. It is all about opinion, thankfully those that matter share mine.
Surely the market value is set by the prices achieved by selling clubs. Whether or not players are considered good value for fees involved is a different matter altogether. The fact that ITFC are not prepared to pay what many consider the market value for a player is no doubt the reason we have the current squad at PR and why many fans are disgruntled.
Yes Mike, it is about opinions, but is it really necessary to tell those that disagree with yours to sod off etc. After all, we all support the same club at the end of the day.

Billy you probably read it in a far more serious way than it is written, sod off is hardly a vicious assault is it ? That said I still stand by it if some are keen for us to put our club at risk again. I always say it as I see but it isn't meant in the way you portray it. Yes we do all support the same team although we all have different ideas as to what is supporting. I certainly don't agree with everything that goes on at PR or everything that ME & MM do, however I do try to understand the reasons why we go about our business in a very frugal way, once bitten and all that.
Just going back to the market value thing, it is swings and roundabouts surely and again all about opinion ? Spurs deemed Ward to be worth 600K, how out is that ? But the players we were supposedly after are not worth anywhere near what we would have to have paid to bring them here, we should be pleased as fans that we didn't waste what money we do have just for the sake of it, Charny said that very thing before the deadline passed about not signing a striker as a matter of panic buying but now seems to be implying we should have paid what QPR wanted for washington as it was the market rate so I am a bit confused.

We had all summer to get players in at market value, and in my opinion Webster and Ward are both worth their value. Murphy leaving was spontaneous and close to the deadline, so I didn't expect us to find a replacement right away. In fact, I'm glad we haven't. I'd like to see our style of football change....but if MM was able to find a direct replacement for Murphy the chances of change would have dropped considerably. We've been going on about ITFC and ME's financial backing for years now; it's not gonna change. I'd like to see how MM fairs with a different style of football...give the bloke a chance. Trust me, a 3-million quid striker won't get us promoted especially if we continue to hoof our chances away. I pretty much wrote off MM last year, but after seeing some of the pre-season style of play I think he has the ability to change. Let's see if it happens this season.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad that I portray things in the wrong light.
Now sod off.

Lucky bugger. My wife fell off her bike and has a broken elbow, 4-6 weeks in plaster. I'm chief cook (I enjoy that) and having to learn how to drive a washing machine. Funny how things change colour!
Have a great holiday. We'll enjoy the break as well!!

My ipad is packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside my door
I hate to log on to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin'
Ive switched off the porn
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
But Ive got so much to say
I could die
So read my "Final Thoughts" for me
Tell me that the team will win
Hold me like Cole Skuse holds up the ball
'Cause I'm sodding off, on a jet plane
I do know when I'll be back again
Oh forumites, I hate to go
There's so many times, more than just a bit
So many times I've lost my sh*t
I tell you now, they make me lose my shiiiit
Every place I go, I'll try and log on
Every song I sing, will be a tractor boy song
When I come back, ten days isn't that long
So tell me that Mick is for us
Tell me Mevans wont go bust
Hold me like Luke Hyam holding his shin
'Cause I'm sodding off, on a jet plane
I do know when I'll be back again
Oh forumites, I hate to go
Now the time has come and I must go
One more time
Let me tell you
Then close your eyes
Like Tommy does
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to defend the club
About the times, I won't have to say, when I'm pished...
Oh, kiss me and smile for me Liz
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me when I'm about to barf the Chinese...
'Cause I'm sodding off, on a jet plane
I do know when I'll be back again
Oh forumites, I hate to go
But, I'm sodding off on a jet plane
I do know when I'll be back again
Oh forumites, I hate to go

I do worry that Mr. Holland might use this opportunity to invade the forum in Mikes absence and spread his 'negativity'

Blue Holland vs Blue Mike would be great entertainment for the season, though. If I was Mike, keep away and enjoy his holidays.
First day back at work for me after 3 weeks off with the work phone off.... horrible to come back to so I'm very envious of others jetting away to the sun.

No doubt Bluemike's enjoying some of the local delights, as we speak!
Don't think, however, he'll be able go 'Cold Turkey' - with both Reading and Derby on the horizon - cast iron willpower required! He might find a local establishment showing Friday night's Sky match; I'm hoping to find one in downtown Dubrovnik!
Sympathise with first day back experience - but at least it's now hopefully done and dusted.

It'll only be entertaining if Blue Holland doesn't apologise for being negative. Bluemike doesn't apologise for anything, ie, "Sod off you pricks, Mick runs the club properly!" So anyone that starts a post with , "I'm really sorry, but ........." Nope, won't do!
Rossi was the closest with the "Micks sh*t and Berra slept with a defender" stuff, but he and Mike are buddies now so that bit of positive/negative rivalry died in a pint of bitter.
