Harry from Bath.......Think he captures the essence of last night's game.

Hallam, I am very confused. This is indeed a "good read" and Harry definitely highlights all the talking points. Very diplomatic, and gives praise where praise is due. In fact he doesn't really say a bad word about ITFC at all in it. You have said its a "good read" yet you want "Mick out" in another thread? What is that aw aboot? Was it just anger?

Re: A good read if u have time.
Lol, no not a hot flush moment. I meant a good read insomuch as Harry is usually a very poster on twtd, articulate and conscientious. Doesn't mean I actually agree with Al his views.
With regards to Mick, I've always stated that I don't like his style of play, and over the last couple of season's I've found it increasingly frustrating to watch. To the extent that I've become almost in danger of losing my love for the game. But I like Mick as a person. For his honesty, say it how he sees it and doesn't ever try to pull the wool. These traits are I feel, what makes him so genuinely popular with players. But I'm increasingly of the opinion that I don't actually want Mick manager of our Club anymore because I simply struggle to stomach the brand of football on show. Put simply, I'm bored shyteless with it. But I'm more frustrated in the knowledge that Marcus Evans will not replace him because it suits his business needs to keep a manager that doesn't demand a hefty transfer kitty, doesn't make demands on the owner and is happy to tread the seasonal Championship slog, because this matches totally, the dour Yorkshire ethos..."work thee socks off ma lad, and get thee sleeves rolled oop for thee fight"
Early season , plenty to play for. ....players with creativity in the squad, but when will we ever see the team or tactics that will prodcue the football style we all crave, whilst Mick is our manager?

Other Town fans are voicing their concerns. They are referred to as "plastic fans"....But that voice / discontent is growing as the frustration grows. I don't think it's a knee jerk reaction anymore, but genuine discontent
.....................
Plastic fan here. Have had time to now reflect on the game and it doesn't make it any easier. You have to look at the opposition, Reading for me looked a very poor championship side which makes it all the more frustrating - we created next to nothing. We always
make football look so hard to play, always rushed, never comfortable on the ball etc. I loathe to keep raising the full back issue at the club, but it is a huge area of weakness. With one up top this is highlighted as sears and ward are continually caught in 2 minds as to whether to fully committ to supporting pitman or not. Jonas is never touch tight in the game, constantly allowing players too much space to get crosses in. Which makes his grappling in the box at the end even more frustrating. Why drop Webster and keep him out of the team? I thought he was just settling into the side. Douglas and skuse too similar, although I would go with skuse out of the 2. Freddie needs a rest, or to play as a front two. In any case I could go on and on. I don't think venting frustrations and negative opinions classes you as a non fan, in fact I would question a huge proportion of our fan base for their lack of ambition and subsequent passion. Balls to we haven't got the money and resources arguments , last night was a great advert for what we are, and have been for too long - a bang average, poor footballing side. This will be my last season as a season ticket holder unless things change.

Re: A good read if u have time.
I think if the thread remains on topic, ie, referring to Harry's post, he's basically saying exactly the same stuff as I've already said, albeit, much better worded. If the officials are going to continue being so poor, then Mick is farting against thunder. Same goes for Reading. Only thing is, it worked out for them last night.
Ok, yes, the officials aren't stopping Sears bursting the net, agreed, but over the 90 minutes (or 95) Mick has so much more to contend with than just his players in this day and age. And the exact same goes for Neil Lennon @ Hibs.
Just this week, all the video footage has been posted about ITFC and the 78 cup run. Prompted me to go watch some more. So much more was allowed back then, and simulation wasn't like how it is today. People (LIKE ME) need to realise that it's becoming a non contact sport. When I finally realise that, maybe I'll get off referees backs.

I am sad to say that I am fast losing interest in all things ITFC - I never ever thought I would say this but the lack of ambition on the part of the club and the poor quality football on offer have driven me to it. I will not be attending any more games this year.

'A bang average footballing side' says Hallam and I could not agree more. Along with a lot of other posters I am also becoming increasingly bored with everything ITFC. The ethos of the club is going downhill with fans being driven away, which is depressing to say the least.

Not a decision I have taken lightly, but I've just about had enough.
I only have to come 40 miles and go back 40 miles - not a great effort at all: but I've come around to thinking that if the club cannot make the effort then why should I?

To hear some of the more ardent fans sound as if they're giving up on ITFC is certainly worrying to say the least. It's not surprising given the lack of change, and I'm starting to wonder will it ever get better? I have to admit my concerns have long been expressed on this forum, but most of the feed back I got pointed to me being too negative. Are we all starting to be too negative, now?

Seriously, I've read some overreactions over the years on this forum, but some of today's posts are making me laugh out loud. Understanding a level of discontentment, but GOD, some really take the biscuit. Wonder what it'd be like on this forum if ITFC done a "Blackpool" and were in League Two now? I'd certainly f*ck off. But not because of the football. Some of you whingin bastards need to get a grip. Go read Harry from Baths report and get some feckin perspective.

Is That right 9? Am I not that clear when I post? I'll need to work on that then.
I saw the game. Witnessed it with my own eyes. Saw a farcical officials performance, and an ITFC performance that didn't deserve the loss!! Yet plastic fan is banging on about not renewing a ST unless things change bla bla fkn bla. Not singling out Ipswich Town..... Every club have the fkn drama queens.

I'm with you Marko, it's f**king ridiculous, you are pissing against the wind trying to reason with doom mongers. As it is I have just returned to my hotel room pissed out of my head so I will say it as I feel it right now, all those that lose it after every defeat go and f**king do one. I will be distancing myself from all those that spout this bollocks. f**king grow up.

Sorry, Mike, but what a very mature and 'grown-up' comment (NOT).bluemike wrote:I'm with you Marko, it's f**king ridiculous, you are pissing against the wind trying to reason with doom mongers. Just for once, Mike, why don't you try to accept that there are opinions among fans that differ to those of yourself.
If you cannot see and accept that some fans do not necessarily 'lose it after every defeat' as you put it, but rather are concerned about the general malaise that has crept into the club over the past few months, then you are a very narrow-minded person indeed.
They do not need to 'do one', they are not necessarily 'spouting bollocks', they do not need to 'grow up' - they are as entitled to their opinions as you are: furthermore there are no laws or rulebooks to say that one person's opinion is any more valid or correct than another's.
I think that most people on here say things as they see it - comments that they need to grow up and their opinions are bollocks are frankly disrespectful to say the very least.

Actually Gary you are quite right, I should have kept my thoughts to myself as to how I feel about it all, what I should have done was to say that I want no part of it and will distance myself from all the doom and gloom which we have had the last 2 seasons after every poor result and which we appear to be getting again now. All I would like to see is consistency that when we do go on a good run the mood and feelings of those unhappy with things now stays the same then, I know with most it won't be that way. I would just like somebody to tell me how the hell can MM help Ward and Knudsen giving away those penalties? Does that really warrant the fallout that we are seeing ? For my part I seriously can't deal with it for another 8 months, we hadn't played at all badly this season and pretty much everything has gone against us, I don't even think we played too bad in the second half at Reading but maybe I am easily pleased, who knows. It gets to the point where maybe posting on these places is possibly not for me.

Re: A good read if u have time.
For what it's worth I was quite happy with our overall second half performance on Friday night, I've seen us play much worse.
Yes of course the Knusden penalty incident was complete stupidity and gave away two points, however I do think the manager has to take a share of the blame cos clearly he hasn't drilled into the players heads the need to comply with this season's rules on penalty area discipline which has been very high profile since the start of the season.
To be fair the stirred emotions on here haven't all come out of Friday nights result, I think it's simply a build up of frustration out of lack of funds from ME to MM, the sale of Murphy without a replacement, the style of play, the lack of use of some squad players (teams selection), a string of dodgy decisions against us, little progress over recent years, and even Marcus Evans link to criminal activities. In isolation none of these would be a significant problem, but mix them all together and here is the recipe for frustration and discontent.
OK Mike, you choose to bury some of this and look for the positives and I admire you for that, cos I much prefer to be in the mix of positive people over negitive people any day, however not everyone will be able to handle that because it isn't within their nature, and maybe you need to accept this and be less personal in your responses to those who think differently.
I guess I've mellowed as I've got older and far more things in my life are more important than football, yes I can rant and rave for an hour or so after the game but the following day life has moved on.
A boss once said to me, "when you're angry about something FFS don't reply to emails until you've saved it and slept on it and re-read it 24hrs later, only if you're still happy with it send it" .. it was very good advice, I amended lots of emails and it kept me out of some deep sh*t.
Chill out mate and enjoy the rest of your holiday, like Ashford I'm returning to the Costa Blanca this week and can't wait to get back to the sunshine and the Spanish laid back way of life.

I understand and appreciate your comments and opinions, even if I do not always share them, and I completely agree with you that those who voice-off during the bad times should be equally vociferous when we win.
I have to accept your assertion that everything has been against us so far, as you have watched far more than I have this season.
I guess I was just really disappointed that on Friday MM stuck to his tried and tested methods and players when we had far more creative talent sitting on the bench.
I watched all 3 championship games on tv over the weekend: Villa/Forest was a good game that I really enjoyed, Derby/Newcastle had it's moments, but I was totally bored watching us. That has to change.

Hi Rossi, Long time no speak.
Indeed a long time since I posted anything.
I must say that I have nearly always seen things from your point of
view and still do..
And once again I agree with your comments below..
The bit about being p****d and making comments is very true, suffice to add I generally
find the site more acceptable/funny when I am P****d. As all the seriousness from
both sides of the fence that get's slated instead of accepted is definitely
enough to drive one to drink.
All the best

I watched all 3 championship games on tv over the weekend: Villa/Forest was a good game that I really enjoyed, Derby/Newcastle had it's moments, but I was totally bored watching us. That has to change.
What are you doing over in Tel Aviv - surely you're not still working?

quote="Earl Blue"]Hi Rossi, Long time no speak.
Earl

I understand and appreciate your comments and opinions, even if I do not always share them, and I completely agree with you that those who voice-off during the bad times should be equally vociferous when we win.

Re: A good read if u have time.
I had lunch yesterday with an old friend I first met in 1978. He was an ITFC season ticket holder at the time and has renewed it annually until this season. Someone I would call a dedicated fan. Sadly he is now so fed up and disillusioned with the way that is run and managed, along with the standard of suppose 'entertainment', that has called it a day.
A sad indictment indeed, but one shared by many.

Not my greatest moment Gary but I stand by a fair bit of it if I did perhaps put it across incorrectly. That said the hangover was f**king awesome so what the hell.rossi wrote:We've all had at least one time when we've posted something when pissed out of our heads Mike, I know I have.bluemike wrote:Actually Gary you are quite right, I should have kept my thoughts to myself as to how I feel about it all, what I should have done was to say that I want no part of it and will distance myself from all the doom and gloom which we have had the last 2 seasons after every poor result and which we appear to be getting again now.
