The days of Bill Shankly, Jock Stein, SBR, Bob Paisley, and even Sir Eck, are well and truly over.

Di Matteo has a Champions League medal in his top drawer, but he can't go to Preston and win with the Giants that are Aston Villa?

If Mick goes to Villa, and Villa start winning football matches, then Mach Polish Blue has been correct for over three years; Mevans is the sole issue with ITFC.

I'm not sure a guy that is pumping in 7 million minimum a year just to keep us trading day to day can be classed as the sole issue at all, it just isn't right. he may have his faults but we would still need someone to come in and take on 86 Million of debt at the last count, I don't see too many interested parties, I read plenty about how Evans should sell up but to who ?

Yes but former owner Eddie Davies wrote off the vast majority of the 170Million debt, the buy out was done for something crazy like 9 Million from memory, ME will not be writing off his debt any time soon LOL.

This seems old ground, but guessing the Birmingham club would aspire to return to the EPL at the earliest opportunity. Di Matteo doesn't work out, they look for a new name : but seriously, who would see McCarthy as a suitable replacement right now ? Maybe stabilize the club if he were offered the job and prevent a slide into the third league, but as for actual hope of returning to the elite, would appear between slim and non-existent.

This whole issue of who's culpable for our poor form in recent times, be it Evans, be it McCarthy, be it a culmination of the two : bottom line we're seemingly stuck with two names that are many supporters 'least wanted', and then you've got the issue of the debts the club carries amongst other areas of concern, that may present too much of an area of avoidance for any potential takeover interest. In an ideal world, Aston Villa fire Matteo tomorrow, make a grab for McCarthy, and take him away before anyone can interject or raise issue, but unfortunately that scenario (as much as it may appeal) simply won't occur.
