I think most will agree Douglas has been way better than some of the more popular players by some distance, admitting it is another matter though.

He's always been an automatic scapegoat for some whereas other players have performed far worse.

I'm glad Kluggy is getting the recognition he deserves. I've always believed he'd make a decent first team coach, but some people on this forum rubbished the idea...of course, it wasn't the first time my ideas have been rubbished on here.

He isn't first team coach LOL.
Klug’s new role will see him involved more on the training ground, assessing the development of young players and also responsible for the progress of full-time and part-time coaching staff.

As i said after the last game, I reckon Douglas covered more ground than any other Town player. Our supposed attacking midfielders didn't get in the box as much as he did. And they didn't protect the back 4. He lacks something but of the midfield 5 was the only one to emerge with any credit.

Slightly at a tangent, but it looks nigh on certain that Steve Bruce will be next AV manager. I saw that he's likely to take Keith Bertschin, his 1st Team Coach at Hull, with him. Must admit that I didn't know that Bertschin was at Hull. Wonder if folks on here recal his time with us? 1973-77, made 32 appearances, scored 8 goals - I saw some of 'em! He also played for Sunderland, our feathered friends, and Stoke.

Think he also knocked Ipswich out of the FA Cup whilst playing for the rivals? 1-0 and he scored? 1983 or 84?

I remember his 1st team debut at Highbury in April 1976. He came on as sub in the second half, raced straight into the box and headed a goal. Town won 2-1.

Vague memories of that. Do remember Steve Bruce scoring a late winner, from a corner, in the 1985 Milk Cup Semi-Final. This caused Terry Butcher to inflict some serious damage to a NCFC dressing room door. Rumours say that its still in intensive care!

So Bruce gets picked up finally and will begin at Aston Villa in a short while ? Hasn't he achieved a promotion at every club he's managed, that's what was mentioned on radio today ? All I know is, this will be an opportunity missed.

He'll do well there, surely get them back involved at the end of season and challenging the promotion places. Where we'll be I don't know, but it was only going to be a matter of time before someone came in and took up his services.

Look on the bright side... we could have took up Steve McClaren' services. Can't believe Derby are going back to McClaren.... why not go for Mick !!!!! I feel a little insulted they didn't consider our manager.

suspect there's a very hefty compo payment required by Evans to allow MM to leave

I'm sure there is a hefty compo package - as Mick has already publicly stated. Derby are one of those clubs though that seem to have heaps of cash and no sense. If they are mad enough to take back McClaren - they are mad enough to take on Mick. With Villa getting Bruce and now Derby with McClaren ... seems like the 'dream ticket' of MM being poached has gone.

I'm amazed that someone like McClaren can keep getting these decent jobs in the top divisions in England. He looked absolutely useless and pointless at Newcastle - a pathetic and ridiculed figure in the end at Newcastle. Thought he would end up in a job in China as no one over here would touch him.

Agree...McClaren has to be one of the most over-rated British managers ever!

Extraordinary decision. Can only imagine the Derby Board have had their collective brains fried by aliens, Still, they'll have loads of time to regret their stupidity!

What on earth are Derby thinking LOL, they seem to want to implode or self destruct at every opportunity.

I was thinking the same. Would be very interesting to see how he gets on. However too much of a gamble imo.... Pick a young manager who is kicking on in the lower English or German/Dutch leagues would be my ideal.

Good to see Neil Warnock get off to a winning start at Cardiff. There can't be a better manager in the Championship for turning around a crap team. Maybe he can come here for a few months after our Mick moves on.

Yesterday's game was, by all accounts, something of a non-event with a considerable amount of high-ball tactics, poor officiating and both teams looking at teams devoid of ideas or creativity. While the obligatory references to our own play this season, Neil Warnock is a name many of the support here weren't in favor of, and as mentioned before, he did a stellar job at previous clubs such as Sheffield United, but could be argued, hasn't been able to fully replicate those achievements in subsequent years of management.

As for the end of it, Sixty-four thousand dollar question - when does McCarthy move on ? Won't be this season I don't feel unless the club sees a fall into the third tier, and even then there's a level of chance that Evans will still see faith in him and keep him in place (!)
