Re: Connor Grant Kept Out of Team By Form Of Other Midfielders
I'm shocked anyone is sticking up for MM at the moment! That's what they say though...Ipswich fans are the nicest fans in the league. We don't care if we play sh*t...sign me up for another ST please. We don't care if the manager's sh*t...and don't give him any stick please. We don't care if we're ever promoted again...lets stay in the championship please. FFS, is that what an Ipswich fan has become? I'm depressed.

Look, there appears to be a minority still in favor of McCarthy, that much we can ascertain.
Each passing game you believe it'll get better or there's be some level of improvement, and while once again yesterday's performance was to some encouraging, the lack of goals is an immediate concern and before long if there's isn't a radical change in results, the club will find itself too far behind to realistically expect anything in the final months of the campaign.
If you address the situation head on : 14 years in the same division, tried and failed managerial appointments, and in that time, only a handful of tangible opportunities of ever making it back to top league status, the club has clearly underachieved : but from somewhere, you believe it will get better and someone can make a difference.
It hasn't reached a point where I'd 100 per cent advocate McCarthy's departure, but for sure if things don't pick up, he's going to find himself in a situation where resignation is the only honorable thing remaining.

Those days might be over, 9. I have taken a look at that TWTD comments page past few weeks and it's full of keyboard warriors scathingly attacking Mick.number 9 wrote:I'm shocked anyone is sticking up for MM at the moment! That is exactly right and the same as I have already said previously, the nastiness that comes from some of our so called fans towards MM is OTT, I would love to see any of them say it to his face, the fact is they wouldn't have the balls. By all means want him gone if that is what you feel but the need to be so venomous is ridiculous, people have short memories and they are the very ones that will be jumping from the rooftops when we do finally string 2 or 3 wins together.J4ck22 wrote:It's absolutely unnecessary for him to wind up the fans, I agree. But the point I'm trying to make is that it's also unnecessary for us to be so aggressive and hateful in our criticisms of him. It doesn't matter what kind of contract he's on or what kind of job he's doing, the point is that he's a person single handedly taking on thousands of fans calling him every name under the sun because of football. So is it really that much of a surprise that he holds a slight resentment towards us? If we think it's okay to do that, we shouldn't be surprised when it comes back at us.tangfastic wrote:People probably get offended because he's the one person responsible for picking the team and the one person we rely on for taking us forward. I don't think Mick has taken criticism well recently and he's not given it back well.J4ck22 wrote:I don't agree with the statement at all, but why do so many fans get so offended after every sarcastic 'dig' Mick makes at us, but are more than happy to throw abuse at him on a regular basis. Even the OP brands him as a tosser. Don't give what you can't take and all that.
He has a good contract and many fans put a lot of their money towards the club. If he wants to engage in a pointless feud with fans by things he says and hinting that he will deliberately not pick players to p*ss of the fans.... what does he expect and how is it good for ITFC?
In this case, I think he's been misinterpreted a bit, but in other interviews he's winding up the fans unecasarily.
Jack, I see where Markos coming from .... good to see another's point of view apart from moan, moan, moan ... but this is not MMFC.
Before you respond with 'But he's paid a lot of money to deal with that sort of thing.' I don't think you'd quite realise how it feels to be in that kind of position, because I sure as hell wouldn't deal with it.

Inovolvement in pro football means you grow to things: a thick skin and a man-sized pair!
MM Is well able to ride out supporter criticism and angst, occasionally biting back. Similarly, he'll wave happily at those same individuals following any win. That's football - keep the perspective.
The single, critical, factor is that MM retains the dressing room. Loose that and he'll know the game is up. However, with external - and I suspect internal - pressures mounting as each goal-less game goes by, I don't think there's any sign yet of player dissent, or suggestions that their 'we're in this together' spirit is draining away. (Unless, of course, you're J Emmanuel!)

Well I did call him a tosser in the op - it was, I feel, a justified name, although names such as bell-end and knob-head could also have been used.
Would I say that to his face - well, just set up a meeting and let's see.

And by the way yes I think you may say what you feel to MM, its the 1000s of little internet trolls on other sites that most definitely would not, they scuttle out after every game like a plague of Silverfish before decending back under their rocks.

Unfortunately, Mike, as you know it's virtually impossible for me to get to Ipswich from the City in time for midweek games.bluemike wrote:Rossi, are you at the pub tomorrow night mate as we have so much to argue over, err I mean dicuss LOL.rossi wrote:Well I did call him a tosser in the op - it was, I feel, a justified name, although names such as bell-end and knob-head could also have been used.

Pity, as I'm missing our pre-match drinks/discussions.
Hopefully though I'll be there for the next Saturday game, although that is by no means certain at the moment. Brexit has a lot to answer for - the Insurance market is getting very busy.

That's a shame Gary, hopefully we will catch up some time soon though. In the meantime keep behind MM mate PMSL.rossi wrote:Unfortunately, Mike, as you know it's virtually impossible for me to get to Ipswich from the City in time for midweek games.bluemike wrote:Rossi, are you at the pub tomorrow night mate as we have so much to argue over, err I mean dicuss LOL.rossi wrote:Well I did call him a tosser in the op - it was, I feel, a justified name, although names such as bell-end and knob-head could also have been used.
