Think he knows he is pretty safe in his job for now. IMO I don't think Marcus has even considered picking the gun up yet let alone put his finger on the trigger.

Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
so what do we do about it? Im not one for wanting to get banners or turn the atmosphere toxic by booing and calling for his head publically etc. A lot of people round me have reached this point.
To be honest if I was considering doing this I just wouldn't go, id prefer to show my unhappiness by not attending than being vocal about it. In the end money talks and if a lot of ST holders don't even bother turning up, then the club will be worrying about next seasons sales, that's the only thing that will make them listen. I will be going tonight and I hope we put in a performance for the first time in a long time, but I just have a feeling its going to get quite nasty tonight. I liken it to when we had a previous manager and we played a very young Southampton side who were struggling at home on a Tuesday night, they went and beat us 3-0 and we the atmosphere was horrible, we were dreadful. If we are not careful we could have a repeat of that tonight. I actually think we might nick a win tonight but that will only paper over the very large cracks.
I have had my ST since 2001 and am just disillusioned with the club, and football in general. Ive always been football mad, but im losing faith in the game, I think from top to bottom its all wrong, the game has lost touch with fans and this can be seen at so many clubs aside from ours, look at West Ham, Leeds, Blackburn to name a few. The last straw for me has been the recent press conferences, you have MM giving his "I don't care" messages and basically sticking 2 fingers up to the crowd for having an opinion. And then even worse than that you have Ian Milne coming out on Saturday dismissing we are "boring" and saying that actually he believes we have been entertaining so far this year, we are just missing some goals. Well sorry Ian but forgive me if I take no notice of your opinion on a game you clearly know nothing about. How many more of these clowns will we have before we get some football people in, Clegg, Milne, Evans, they are all businessmen, football should not be a business, it should be a game for the working public to be proud of, one day when TV money runs dry someone might realise this, but that wont happen anytime soon.

Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
McCarthy's not going to make a disclosure of "I realize I am doing a poor job, we're not making progress and I have outstayed my welcome" Most, if not all, managers after a poor run offer defense of themselves and insist they're fine to continue.
Put it another way, the manager isn't going to be thinking "this is my last game or my abilities are now so ineffective I'll be out of employment tomorrow", McCarthy would focus merely on the job in hand and his belief that he's the right name to undertake team management.
Evans won't take any action unless there is a considerable deterioration of results and don't believe (despite the poor form thus far) that we're at that point in time. So long as McCarthy can keep the opposition out, regardless of how sh*t the performance may be, the owner may still see faith in his abilities and remain 'convinced' he's the most suitable name to be in position.
Tonight's game will be interesting for sure, maybe (another) case of the after-match view more enthralling than the game itself, but as before, whatever occurs later today, would still strongly advocate McCarthy's departure. The tragedy is, we're only two or three months into a new campaign and a considerable amount of supporters have already accepted that the season is over and we're too far behind - or too incompetent - to feasibly achieve anything by the end of season.
For that reason alone I'd wish McCarthy to vacate, find someone who actually possesses a tangible interest or desire in wanting this club to compete again or be successful.

Can you really see Evans getting rid of him yet?
He gave Jewell and Keane time to try and turn things around and I just can't see it being any different with MM especially having extended his contract. Time will only tell of course but I quite expect to see MM still in charge come the start of next season.

Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
Both Evans and MM will ride out supporter unrest and criticism; and, although continuously falling attendances will give real cause for conern, it will probably be insufficient to force MM's departure. To that extent, the pair are joined at the hip regarding the extent to which ME is prepared to provide funds, and MM's apparent willingness to accept the constraints it places on him.
There will need to be a massive loss of dressing room support, with players so short of confidence and belief that results and performances deteriorate to the point where relegation becomes a real possibility. In those circumstances it's likely that ME and MM will arrive at the inevitable conclusion that the game is up, and a 'mutually agreed' departure will be arrived at.
Is that scenario inevitable? Difficult to predict with any degree of certainty. But, for the present we have to plug away, with aspirations of making the play-offs replaced - at least for now - with let's just stop the slide into potential oblivion. At what point we fail to do that, will determine MM's future; although with a renewed contract, there's no saying that the ME/MM pairing could still be in place should the worst happen. The new challenge becoming, 'regaining our CShip status is the Club's top priority' All a bit depressing, and hopefully far from what will be reality.
So, each game at a time to start to turn things round. Starting with a win tonight as Step 1.

Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
I don't see why MM is worried about his job, yes we have an issue with boring, dull football at present, not sure I have ever seen a manager sacked for that. Despite the awful run we sit 6 points off a play off place, 4 clean sheets in the last 6 games or 6 in 12 over the season, we've actually only lost 3 of the last 10 games, trouble is we draw too many at the moment. 9 or 10 injuries all at once and the clubs best striker sold from under the managers nose, I don't see anything to suggest MM is under any pressure at all. As soon as we get a couple of wins and the league table looks more appealing fans will go again, that is a fact proven over decades. I would give up on wishing MM gone as it just aint gonna happen, As I stated after the Leeds fiasco I don't want to see crap like that ever again but aside from that he needs to adopt a more offensive approach for me.

Maybe because he knows Evans is going to be in a Brazilian prison very soon. Maybe that Milne bloke might grow a pair and do it instead!!

If ME does end up in a Brazilian prison, maybe he can scout a few players for us. I'm sure he'll figure out the strong and fast ones soon enough...ashfordblue wrote:derick_ipsw wrote:Maybe because he knows Evans is going to be in a Brazilian prison very soon. Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
Im of the opinion that MM is just going through the motions and has very little desire to take us forward. As is ME. This club has been here before only we had a chairman who is a supporter of this club who was brave enough to appoint a manager who excited the fans. I refer to Burley.
This club is stuck in a rut now with ME and MM at the helm. ME needs to go and perhaps we need a manager who cares again about this club......I would take a punt on Fabian Wilnes

Fabian Wilnis ? Yeah, that will work wonders............NOT !! Would not surprise me if Mick Mills starts putting his name in the hat because that would really set the town alight.
Lets forget bringing back the former players "palava".

I'd be in favor of a former player taking over as soon as possible but with all due respect don't think Wilnis would work for us.loudnproud wrote:Im of the opinion that MM is just going through the motions and has very little desire to take us forward. As is ME. Tony Mowbray would be a very good pick, he has actual managerial experience and believe worked with (Jamie) Clapham for a time at the same club. Co-managers have existed before and this pairing alone would be interesting to see.
For the last time, so long as Mick McCarthy remains at this club we are not going to get out of the championship league. Stability Yes - actual progression, not a f*ck in hell's chance.
Like it, don't like it, that's the way it is.

Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
Don't understand this former player cum manager business.
Rarely works and it's the quickest way to spoil their playing legacy.
Mick's not going anywhere anyway.... we might be in a rut and slowly going backwards, but we've just had a win against Burton and countless clean sheets... which is not sacking form by MEs standards. Mick will always pull a win out of the bag in just enough time to keep afloat. It's death by a thousand cuts... and we've got a few hundred cuts left to go.

It remains to be seen if we are going backwards though, there is no argument we have had a sticky spell but going backwards ? I am not so sure.

Re: Mick Not Worried About His Job
Would say we're currently marking time; getting a fully fit and available squad, and team set ups that maximise the quality that we do possess, will better reflect where we are. From a playing viewpoint, therefore, I think there's room for cautious optimism. On the issue of ownership, levels of squad investment and commitment to taking us onwards and upwards, not so sure!
When MM's time here finally comes to an end, then 'best available man for the job' should be the priority. But don't see that situation arising any time soon; and, all factors considered under ME's ownership, then MM probably continues to fit that bill. Not all will agree!
