I'd say it's less tiring tbh than coach or flying ( takes you over 2 hrs to get through terminal at Stanstead when I flew to Newcastle game, so much hanging around). On a train they can get up and walk around can't they.

It's not an easy journey from Ipswich - Newcastle and certainly not possible without changing lines either in London or Cambridge/Peterborough. It could be that some of these stations "on the way" suited some of our players better than leaving from Ipswich?.....

That said, players travelling by train is very much something from the past and a long way from those days in the 60's when I used to collect players autographs at Ipswich Station as players arrived and departed from Ipswich Train Station.

Yep the first time I went to Newcastle I used it. After being stuck in a traffic jam on the A1 yesterday wish it was still running!

That's the major problem with the A1 Shed isn't it. Get an accident on there and there's no other route you can use to get off it.

Hope the lads put up a good show today.

Hope everyone who stayed up there last night had a good time - great place to be for a night out! Similarly, all those travelling today - safe journeys.

Be fantastic to come home with something like a point! COYBs! :D

Wouldn't if have been possible for the team to fly from Stansted to Newcastle ? Prestwick is only some four miles from St James Park and a direct route, but was it Marcus Evans couldn't supply the funds available to allow it ?

I thought I'd been on every Town "Blue Arrow" Special but clearly not as I didn't go on the trip to Newcastle. Those were definitely brilliant days out.

Charny
It was around 1973-74 time. I remember we lost 1-0 but was still a great day out on the Special.

That would explain things, I got married in November 73 and bought our first house in May 74, I was probably saving hard. I was also playing Saturday afternoon football at that time.

When did the Blue Arrow start and finish, can you remember Shed?

Might have been better had they not travelled at all!
