Only got the score update a short time ago, not going to use the excuse of playing a team fighting relegation any further, now learned they've lost their last seven consecutive league games going into this, and who's about to put an end to that sorry statistic..
Pity is apparently we've had the majority of possession and created the better chances but once again we seem to know not a damn thing what to do with it.
Of course there's still time to salvage something from today but even a draw at the end of it all would be to many, unsatisfactory. McGoldrick removed from play and Best comes on in his place, let's hope the kid makes a difference out there.

Where's Marcus Evans at today ? Is he aware of the game, taking an interest, following "progress" etc ?
Come on, five minutes remaining, we can turn this round the chances and possession would indicate ? f**king get at them.

So sorry, I apologize unreservedly : it's just that the update page I was following mentioned that the player had been removed from play. Their mistake, You can take it up with them.tangfastic wrote:SJ... McGoldrick removed from play ? He's just equalised, you tool.
In any event, final score was a draw and while we salvaged it right at the end it's still an unsatisfactory result. Ok, relief we got something out of it but the major concern is, that it buys McCarthy more time to inflict further damage.
Said before he'll probably be in (it) for the season regardless of results.

McCarthy is a f**king genius. He said they'd "nick a goal"!Magicmark wrote:Guess nicking a late goal & drawing won't stop the doom & gloom brigade
Seriously though!!! FFS! Rotherham at home should be a banker 3pts, REGARDLESS of their new manager and new optimism. Rotherham, AT PR, is 3pts.

Re: Ipswich Town v Rotherham United preview and matchday thread
I'm about as loyal to MM as they come but f*ck me ive just about had enough of it right now, this might be unwise poisting so soon after the game given that I am piseed off and angry to the max but man that was f**king woeful in the extreme. This was Rotherham for god sake and we had the advantage of a really early goal !! Once again we are unable to build on it and make the most of it.
The starting line up actually looked quite promising and attack minded although I was surprised to see Leon best on the bench as it gave us no height or power up top, with Ward, Didsy, Sears, Lawrence and Bishop starting one could not help but think we had to create plenty against the bottom side and my thoughts were enforced after we grabbed a very early lead through Freddie Sears quick thinking from Lawrence's freekick. In true Town style we fail to hold on to the lead for long and ward pulled them level, in real time he looked yards offside but there seems to be little complaint anywhere so I guess he must have been on.
Despite Town being in charge we still found it hard to create much at all, young kenlock the closest, his header being pushed away by Camp in the Millers goal. We had actually looked ok in patches but the final third continues to be our achilles heel, we had managed to retain possession better than we have done for some time but all this against a p*ss poor opposition. Didsy & sears had their moments but I must admit I was disappointed with Didsy's contribution in the opening half. Adam Webster again caught the eye while sears worked hard and got his goal.
No sooner had we kicked off the second half and we found ourselves behind, Ward totally unamrked to rifle home his second of the game with town's defence all over the place, schoolboy stuff once again. There were plenty of half chances coming Town's way but all of them hardly caused too much trouble to the Rotherham goal, in fact the longer the game went on the more likely it looked like we could be caught on the break again. The atmosphere on the terraces was turning quite unpleasant with choruses of "we want our Ipswich back " and Mick McCarthy, your football is sh*t" ringing round the stadium, for once I very nearly found myself joining in such was the abject crap I was witnessing once again.
With the ref about to blow the final whistle Didsy somehow found a moment of magic to salvage an undeserved point from a game which MM said was a must win, I couldn't even muster a celebration on this occasion, to me it feels like we had lost, this is a team that are bottom and have lost all seven away games, player for player we leave them standing and yet as a team we once again looked so disjointed, Jonny Williams made a big difference when he came on and Sears worked his socks off, for me Webster is a level above the rest despite his part in Rotherhams second, as for the rest of them, where to start, Kenlock started well but faded, I really expect more from Ward, Lawrence, Didsy and Bishop, this is where the creativity has to come from but they were all so average.
Bart (5) Kenlock (6) Berra (5) Webster (7) Chambers (5) Skuse (5) Ward (5) Lawrence (5) Bishop(5) Sears (6) McGoldrick (6)
SUBS :- Williams (7) Best (5)
I am really at the point where my defence of all things MM is stretched to the limit right now, that said the players also need to be accountable as some of them turn in mediocrity week after week, no Douglas or Knudsen to take the flak this time so maybe it is just a endemic thing we have within our squad right now, sometimes things get to the stage where there is no turning it around and I am starting to fear that whether MM is the man to take us forward or not the fans have made their mind up and that is not going to change.
I feel so down and fed up with football tonight that I am actually glad that I am unable to make next weeks game at Sheff wed, I am sure I will bounce back but in the meantime I am off to kick the next door neighbours cat a few times. This particular supporter of Mick Mccarthy needs to ponder over if even I can stomach anymore of the fare we are being dished up with, either way I fear my opinion is going to count for little as the masses have made their minds up a while back, it could just be they were right all along.
It was a pleasure to meet ITFCTrev today prior to the game, hopefully do it again soon mate.

Thanks for that Mike. I'd love to say your report totally surprises and shocks me, but it doesn't.
Frankly, I've had enough if Mick now....and I wonder if the players have?

I have been brassed off with MM since end of last season. Not been to a game this season, only newcastle away. Dont think i will be rushing back to PR as long as the stubborn yorkshireman is in charge.

Disappointing and highly frustrating afternoon. Understand the angst and criticism being directed at MM which, to be fair, he acknowledges and accepts. For me, though, the principal culprits for today's progressively deteriorating performance, and abject defending for two gifted goals, were the players. The starting set up was good, and first half play - their goal apart - showed that there's ability and creativity in them; but all that counted for nought after conceding such a senseless second goal - which Chambers should have cleared, instead of playing staues. After that, all the familiar insecurities resurfaced, as confidence clearly took a major hit. Much huffing and puffing, but with little real threat in the final third; passes going astray, poor decision making and heads slowly dropping. An increasingly unlikely point gained against the league's bottom club, courtesy of a last minute super strike by DMcG. Not good, and increasingly worrying.
Interesting comments by Micik Mills, to the effect that the players are so intent to stick to what MM/TC drum into them, that none are strong enough to change things on the pitch as games develop. He was critical of Chambers, and questioned whether he was strong enough to represent players' concerns to MM. Would suggest such a meeting needs to happen - although, for me, Chambers is part of the problem. His qualities as captain don't significantly outweigh his shortcomings as a RB.

All reports sum's the game up nicely, the thing is we do have some players who can actually play football but are stifled by the tactics, we have seen what happens to players who don't toe MM's line they are frozen out or got rid of ASP.
