Merry Christmas

Post by Frosty » Thu Dec 15, 2016 10:05 am

Hey Guys & Gals,

It's been a strange old season so far, but Football can be like that as we all know.

Just want to wish everyone that participates in this forum a Happy Christmas & a great 2017!

I would especially like to thank a few people that contribute a lot of time to keep this place running:

Bluemike - Has an 'opinion on opinions', but we forgive him for that as he is a massive asset in both running of the Prediction League and contributions to the 'Previews'.

Charnwood - Just has strong opinions, but is equally forgiven as he has brought new excitement to the 'Prediction League' over the past couple of seasons.

Jamma123 - Has long winded opinions which we successfully turned into 'Opening Thoughts' on the previews, James also assembles the 'bits & pieces' that comprise a Preview for which I am very grateful for.

Todd66 - Seldom has an opinion, so has been relegated to the 'Games Room' where he is learning how to play with others.

K L Blue - Posts everyone else's opinions by using his excellent ability to hunt out news stories from around the web for the Previews

itfc76trev - has an opinion about everything, just forgets to post them most of the time. Watches a lot of questionable videos on the internet, luckily some are on Football which end up in the Previews

Marko69 - A foreigner, I can't speak Scottish so not sure if he has opinions. Still, does a fantastic job with the 'Caption Contest' which is a forum favourite, and a great contributor to the forum.

Seriously, I wouldn't be involved if it wasn't for the people above, so a really big thanks guys.

To everyone else, thank you for every contribution, when we cut to the chase, we are all here for the same reason (except for the budgies, but they do add a bit of colour).

Once again, to both you and your families, have a safe and enjoyable festive season.

Best Wishes
Dave

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones Dave, and thank you very much for all your time, effort and commitment in keeping the forum going after the tragic events of a few weeks ago, not to mention the cost.

But hang on a minute, me having opinions on opinions ??? I never voice my opinions, keep them to myself. :D

Also like to wish every single poster on here a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2017.

Seldom has an opinion!!!

My nearest and dearest would probably have something to say about that. Honestly I do, but due to a (and some would say luckily) lack of actually seeing Town play in the flesh for a while I'm keeping quiet and taking in what others who do get to attend have to say!

I'll have to see what I can do to rectify that going forward!!

Anyway

Seasons Greetings to all the Tractor Boys and Girls and here's hoping for a prosperous and successful new year!

Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks Frosty for keeping the forum going. I am making an attempt to continue playing PL as you had suggested. Not that anyone cares, but I'll certainly be back posting on a regular basis once we have a new manager.

Fast forward to 2025 - No 9 wins Mastermind answering questions in Ancient Greek. Meanwhile, MM declares he might have to drop Skuse from the midfield for the upcoming fixture against the Doncaster Belles!

Was just sitting listening to all the news of terror in Berlin this Christmas on the Jeremy Vine Radio 2 show. Made me feel quite low and now in a sombre mood....... Then Adele was played. F**king depressed now!

Seriously though, y'all....... If venturing out into the major cities this Xmas/New Year time, enjoy yourselves but stay vigilant. And young people, get your faces out your smart phones while walking down the street!! Merry Christmas! :D

A time of year I no longer recognize. Simply put, there are a good many people out there who won't be enjoying the holidays for their own personal reasons i.e. bereavement, in hospital , homelessness : so we take a moment to count our blessings and spare a thought for those in distress and less fortunate than ourselves. Whatever your circumstances, try to be grateful for what you got and show a level of empathy for others who find life challenging, amid the "festivities" of the season upon us.

That said, and not appearing disingenuous, wish our participants well over the coming days and remember once again, to count your blessings.

So you do not recognise the time of year because there are unfortunate people out there? Have you been guilty in the past of celebrating the time of the year for the wrong reasons? The whole point of the time of year is to spread peace, love, happiness and best wishes to everyone. I think the majority do this by, at the very least, sparing thoughts for the less fortunate. I'm assuming you think the majority have forgotten the meaning of Christmas....., let's open presents and get pished etc etc? By not recognising the time of year, you are essentially tarring all with the same brush. Be even more unique than you already are and recognise the time of year for the correct reasons.

For the record, we are ALL in the same boat, and unfortunate things will ultimately happen to us ALL......, that's the way it is....... Unfortunately.

Have an absolutely fantastic next few days each and every one of you. Spare thoughts and prayers to the less fortunate, but enjoy it to the absolute max. All the very best.

My wish would be that, whatever folks' personal circumstances and feelings around this time, they're still able to gain some happiness and hope from Christmas. If cynicism and despair are the best some can manage, then something's lost. But everyone to their own.

Spent the early part of this morning trying for a couple of hours - in vain! - to persuade my dog that I really was more interesting than the scents of deer and hare he'd picked up in the woods, and was going to follow until he dropped! In the end, went home, had breakfast and returned with my Frau who shouted the magic word 'dinner' - at which point he magically decided to give up! The motto here is that "A dog is not just for Christmas". If we're careful we reckon there'll be enough left for Boxing Day!

A Happy and healthy Christmas to all - not long to go!
