If there was a vote to have McCarthy sacked right now
then i wouldn't be surprised if 95% of loyal fans said yes!!!

His days as manager are numbered!!!

Maybe we should call it South Anglia?...because that's the direction we're both going in the league!

Lol , VERY true. Only difference is Town haven't spent in excess of £45m to occupy mid-table this season, and our fans didn't proclaim at the start of this season that "we would the division with 100pts and scoring 100 goals".

I wonder who is closer to the bottom of the current form table right now, Us or scum??

The pity is, the games ahead after today are winnable and there are points and progress to be had :

Bristol City Home : 12/30

Queens Park Rangers Away : 1/2

Lincoln City Home : 1/7

Blackburn Rovers Home : 1/14

But - with McCarthy's inept handling and the way the team is so often deployed and performs, we're going to be dropping opportunity left and right. With another manager, a different team set-up and belief, we can feasibly win every one of those four games but you can see it now, we'll make hard work of it.

Of course I want McCarthy to leave. Who gives a f*ck if it's by resignation, or being forced out : so long as he's far away from this club side and can no longer inflict one setback after another, it's the only way we'll recover any of our previous stature.

Make no mistake about it, Marcus Evans can move his sorry as* far away from here also, but as that's not a realistic expectation, will settle for McCarthy. At least that's half the disease eradicated if nothing else.

Whilst Marcus Evans owns the club I don't see much to be gained by changing the manager. MM has proved to be pretty good at surviving on a budget of next to nothing, I'm not sure there are too many others out there capable of doing any better with nil to spend whilst much of the competition doesn't work with the same constraints.

Be careful what you wish for guys cos I think it should be "Evans Out" first and then change the manager.

Just think about it, who would be prepared to replace MM with a nil budget?..... a lesser experienced manager or simply a bad appointment and we really could be staring at League 1 football.

I hear what you're saying Charny, but I think MM has done all he can. I don't believe we are safe from relegation under MM at all. We have digressed from where we were a few seasons ago...and MM has pushed relatively talented players away due his defensive approach. Clearly, underperforming players have not been dropped...when we have younger, more energetic players in the ranks who have proven they can come in and do a job. Someone mentioned that Dozzell didn't play well against Fulham because he was aimlessly trying to play one-touch football. Aimless because Skuse and Douglas haven't a clue what that is even though Klug is coaching the youth on how to play proper football.

I'm willing to wish for something different and take a chance!

I've never rated Mick McCarthy although I did respect the brilliant job he did in keeping us up when he first arrived, and had Evans financially supported him the following season I think we may have seen a different style of management. However on the budget he's worked with and the limited pool of players he can attract to Portman Road he may have done well to keep us where we are. I'm not for one minute suggesting he should stay, however my preference would be to see the back of Marcus Evans first, as it's clear to me he has no ambition for our football club.

Yeah, really in two minds about this.

Managers need to change on a regular basis as they get stale, however, after the usual pick up performance up for a match or two because we 'have a new manager syndrome,' I am not convinced we will be much further ahead. (Best described in the financial term 'Dead Cat Bounce' )

If there is no major investment (and I suspect there won't be), what will change? New tactics are useless if you don't have the tools to execute them.

In fact, there is that old chestnut, it can take time for a side to 'gel' under a new manager and I am not sure we can afford to at the moment.

I feel a change at season close would probably be more beneficial than now, quite frankly if we change now under the FFP rules we will probably make no investment on players as the club will say that they cant afford to due to termination fees of the current manager.

Players that are available 'cheap' or free in a January window (except for the odd exception) are usually available for a reason. In my opinion, our best hope is some decent loan players to see the season out.

I think it is all hypothetical anyway, I don't see him going anywhere even if I am of the opinion that change is now needed.

I am told that MM is on a 2.35m contract PA.With 65% payout if he gets fired whilst Town are not in the bottom 3. May be that is what Evens is waiting for....

I put yes, but I don't think now is the right time. I'd rather wait until the end of the season than potentially rock the boat now and make things even worse for us. But then again, it all depends on who the replacement would be.

I see Hull have appointed Marco Silva as manager. I've never heard of him, but when you look at his credentials you can see why Hull wanted him. When people ask, who would replace MM...Silva is the type of manager ME should be looking for. Silva had also been linked with Wolves and Forest. Let's see what he does for Hull.

It is becoming a bit of a joke of late though eh? Can fully understand backing Mick until a certain point......, he's proven in this league...... But the foreign managers coming in and trying to survive? It's a joke. Look at Wolves themselves? Countless managers in the past year and a half......., and Wolfie wants McCarthy back!

Agree to an extent, but the British managers aren't doing much better. Look at the top seven Prem teams...and there's a few foreign managers in the Championship as well.

Exactly Marko, I remember the masses whinging about MM two seasons ago until we made the play offs, then it was all super Mick. There is a time and a place to lose faith, mine arrived a couple of weeks ago which in my opinion is now fully justified, not when he was doing a good job.

Even though we made the play offs, it was very unlikely we'd get promoted imho. And of course fans will get behind their manager when the team is winning...why wouldn't they? I think the fans just want to be back in the prem probably because of ITFC's history. Nothing wrong with that...

I think there are names that'd have to be separated apart and put into the "elite" section....., Conte, Pep, Jose, Potty, I'd add Wenger, some wouldn't....., I think these guys are on a different wavelength completely.

But even those guys had to start somewhere, and there is every chance that Silva could be the new Messiah at Hull which then leads on to big jobs at Milan, Porto, Barca etc etc......, but judging by the few years of "try ers"......, I'd gamble that he's shown the door within the year.

My opinion is probably influenced by the fact that I think shitty Hull City should be in League 2......., that's Division 4 for the OAPs among us! :D

Every managerial appointment - irrespective of nationality - represents a risk for club owners. The more astute owners will conduct maximum due diligence, do their homework etc, and bring in someone who they assess will be able to operate successfully within their financial constraints. Clearly, mega-rich owners can afford the best available; thereafter it becomes more of a lottery, relative to the quality of squad owners are prepared to fund, and the abilities of those appointed to get the best out the talent available. But, ultimately and whatever the level, it's results that matter, and determine managers' fate. Sometimes owners get lucky, sometimes not: anyone think of examples close to home?!

And what division would Hull City have been in? They seem too far South to be in the North and too far North to be in the South!

I guess they were North. Actually some teams would get moved from one to the other depending on who got relegated from division ,2. I think 2 got relegated while one was promoted from each of the division 3s. But it was before my time really. I was probably 4 or 5 when thry went

I remember back in the mid 70's, looking at the leagues in the old Sunday Post and always seeing Darlington rock bottom of the 4th. Always thought, My God they must be worse than Brechin City!
