Be interesting to see if anything comes of this, I doubt we would want to see him leave for nothing so there could be a modicum of substance to this.

Apparently we have the option of an extra year on his contract so wouldn't lose him for nothing this summer.

The other thing that springs to mind is that we are supposedly interested in the Dundalk Right back so maybe this could be another twist on things.

Not worried about letting him leave for nothing. That's what you get with 30-something's. Murphy being an exception, but that was him being one of our best players and Newcastle having cash to burn with his short-term use ( or lack of it).

Not sure how credible this is. Think it would be good for all parties. We have a RB in Emanuell. Chambers needs a fresh start as he's become a whipping boy. MM has cornered himself by saying he'll start every game. It's a way out for all.

Can't see it happening though. MM seems to think this club will implode without Chambers.

I have a feeling that LC feels that his time here is coming to an end. Understand the Club for whom - as one of the very few natural leaders MM possesses - he has been a model professional, has made no effort to discuss his future contract etc. Poor. Also, I think the continuous supporters' criticsm of both him and MM, has affected that relationship. Body language speaks volumes.

A move away may well be in LC's best interests. The club's best interests will be served by securing the services of a dedicated RB, to compete/augment JE, for that slot - which LC has filled without complaint, but attracting significant abuse, for over 2 years. Not his fault - MM's!

Well it is sounding like LC had just about had enough following the 0-2 reverse at Bristol City if what I am being told is correct, it sounds as if things were finally getting on top of him and were coming to a head so who knows.

I think Chambo's body language has been very muted for a few weeks now .......I think he took it hard the criticism he got from certain sections of the crowd.

I really wouldnt be surprised to see him leave in January. Sometimes its just time to move on. But we will need an experienced replacement IMO

RB he aint but a bloody good club man and leader he is, whatever anyone says he is that, he was the link that for so long brought the fans and players close, it is not just an average RB we will be losing should he move on.

My view is we should never had let it come to this. Chambers is a good bloke and a good captain, as has been said he really did bring the fans and players together which was the start of our upturn. I'm annoyed with MM on this as he should have sorted the RB issue for so long and perhaps chambers would have been more comfortable at CB.

I think we have all been critical of chambers at some point, it got more personal the longer this went on but I think the majority of fans like chambers and would be sad to lose him, he has taken the brunt of frustration which in reality works back to the manager.

Perhaps chambers feels it is best to move on but I for one wouldn't be celebrating his departure even if I think right now we could do better at RB than him.

Is this just idle paper talk?

We're already written him out of the club. Think it would be good for him and us to move on, but how much credibility is there here to this story?

Agree with Charlton that MM has made him inadvertently a scapegoat.... whether by blind loyalty or extreme stubbornness. Couldn't fault Chambers to seek new pastures so he could at least play in his chosen and best position.

Chambers & Berra will be gone, so we will have Webster and Smith plus who ever we bring in during the window, deffo Ward, and the Dundalk RB, in, plus we need to get rid of several deadwood players, I would think Knudsen would or could be shifted out, as he's had more than enough time to develop, and certainly start playing our youth more.

AB, I think you'll find Mick McCarthy actually likes Knudsen!

personally it would be the ideal signing for us, as long as he played in the middle and more important made him the captain, an old head to teach our kids how to defend, I could see Berra doing a job back here as well.

Happy New Year All.

Fairly sure Berra wants to return North, where his family are located.

Happy New Year to you and all G&Bs.

:) He might Liz, but I reckon most fans see him as an average LB, and he's had enough time to develop, so either ship him out on loan or sell, I'm sure we have enough youth players along with Kenlock to have a go at this position, trouble is we've been spoilt for past quality players of Cresswell & Mings at LB, and Knudsen hasn't even come near to that quality, so its either dig around the lower leagues again for the gem, or push on with Kenlock.

To be fair we really don't lose a lot having TS in place of Berra on the left.

I think playing him DCR last Season didn't do him any favours

evidence again of McCarthy ruining players form by playing them out of position. How many is that now?

Chambers
Smith
Sears
Douglas

one player in a team would be enough and acceptable for a period of time. But FOUR, for season after season!!!
