Funny though that us. I said to Mike at thd last game that Pitman is isolated up.front cos Lawrence and Sears were basically covering Knudsen and Chambo arses. They played almost thd whole 1st half on the edge of our 18 yd area. Says it all about MM / TC tactics.

But his 'skip' is a proper bloke and will carry on playing as a right back regardless of form.

What with Chris Martin refusing to play for Fulham, they wont be to keen to let any of there strikers go. Personally I hope neither of the deals come off. They don't exactly set the world alight do they. Best needs a run of games. Pitman is a must start and Mcgoldrick has got to stop shooting from 30 yards every time he gets the ball, and start trying to play someone in.

Personally I think ward would be a good signing, much better than best and Varney. Best is just not good enough for the championship in my opinion. Ward has got 9 goals for a team who are early shocking, we could do worse when you consider the budget we are working from.

I reserve judgement on Woodrow as I really don't know enough about him, perhaps your right that Fulham may not be keen at the moment given their situation with Chris martin. I don't mind pitman but he's someone who I think he is often asked to do a job he is not suited too. He is a finisher, not much else and we are asking him to do a Murphy type role which is not him.

I agree, I think Danny Ward would be a very astute signing for the money being quoted, he looked really good earlier in the season and for Rotherham too !!! I was dead against Woodrow as when I have seen him he has looked nothing special and also a bloody loan, if it were to be an actual signing that would make a little more sense but still not overly excited about him tbh.

Danny Ward makes sense since he's doing well in a poor side. Hope it comes off.

This Woodrow.... we've had Nouble and quite a few others .... actually quite a lot.... who've been brought in 'to work with TC' and reignite some sort of potential in them. No offence to TC....but he's no miracle worker.

Just sounds like adding dead wood and filling out the team numbers. Less is more... and go with home-grown youth if possible.

Wolves said to be considering a bid for 31 yr old Chambers to bolster their squad.

I'd say this could be a way of moving forwards for both Town and Chambers.

IF he left he would go with my very best wishes as He has been an excellent Club Captain. It's not his fault he's been played out of his favourite position for a lot of his time here.

But I would also add that MM would need to bring in another experienced defender as Bera will also be leaving in the summer.......Out of tye current players in squad I can see Skuse being made captain if Chambers leaves.

Things appear to be changing at the Club... moving into a younger, more dynamic squad. No bad thing.

im not convinced this will happen. We have a lack of leaders in our team, I don't see anyone really organizing and shouting, I think probably the best we have in that regard is Chambers. Berra should do it more but doesn't and I don't see other seniors such as Skuse doing it either. MM will not want to lose perhaps the only real voice in the team.

I don't want Chambers at RB anymore either but im just not sure I can see this one happening, but considering its only 1st Jan theres a few stories floating around which indicates we may see some significant business happening at ITFC, I hope so anyway!

Hi chaps

Been a while since I posted on here. I'm an Everton fan but my father is Town through and through and has been for many years. Anyway, even though I hate the idea of having a second team, Ipswich are very close to my heart.

Just wondering what you guys have thought of the boy Webster as I see we are quite strongly linked to him?

Maybe we could lob Jags back to you as part of it? Nah I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Cheers and all the best for the remainder of the season.

He is absolutely pants and won't fit into any other team but ours! Don't take this the wrong way but do one and look somewhere else.

Oh right. I don't really have much say on who we buy and who we don't mate. But I take it you must rate him a little then?

He's undoubtedly a class act at this level; but remains work in progress. Assume Everton would come calling, with a view to developing him further, as opposed to putting straight into your first team.

That call will undoubtedly come in the future but, subject to a silly bid coming in, am sure we will do all possible to keep him for the immediate future. I think, also, Webster is likely to want the reassurance of playing every week in order to continue to gain crucial experience, as opposed to PL uncertainty via your U-23s. He is without doubt a future PL player, but not quite yet. Hands off!

We'd be silly to let Webster to go even at the end of the season. His worth will only go up the longer we hang on to him, and we'll certainly need him. If I were you ijjy, I'd be singing the praises of our brilliant Danish LB. Knudsen is his name, and he's mostly known for his super throw ins! Tell you what, we'll give you Chambers as well. How's that sound, mate?

Sadly we are mental with money at the mo so don't be shocked if we whack a Yannick Bolasie type over the odds bid in.

At least you guys make him sound a real prospect.

Sadly I watch Ipswich enough to know all about Knudsen and Chambers!

Could I interest you in an Oviedo or a Cleverley?

Not Kone though. And Niasse. I like Ipswich and too much.

I might have been a tad hasty in my first reply,
how about buying him for say £10 mil, paying his wages and loaning him back to us for 5yrs,sounds a good deal to me! :D :D

When I look at a player like Tammy Abraham at Bristol City, I think why the f*ck can't we sign somebody like him to knock in the goals.

Abraham wouldn't even have scored 5 goals for us at this point of the season given McCarthy's approach.

You say that Mach, but Daryl Murphy managed to score 27 goals only a couple of seasons back.

I know we had a different midfield then but the management team was still the same as it is now.

Are you suggesting there's no point Evans wasting any money whilst McCarthy is still in charge, that surely would be suicide.

Why would it be suicidal? Worst-case - we're still in the Championship next season. There's at least 3 worse teams than us.

McCarthy's obviously got his own ideas of what type of players he wants in the team (the Douglas', Knudsen's) , but still buys /loans in players, like Williams, Conor Grant, etc, who have no future here as he doesn't know what to do with them or half-heartedly sticks them in the team.

If McCarthy wants to spend some cash he needs to have a clear idea what he wants - and sticks to it. Whether it means we're the most dull, negative team ever. Having a manager who's toying with team selections to appease fans short-term so he can buy time and go back to his favourites later is no good for anyone. I want him out, but don't like him playing little tricks with players / fans to dig himself out of a hole. Would rather he show his true colours and pick his true favourites from the start - then he can be judged on his true 'vision'.

I'm not sure this is about relegation/promotion anymore - it's more about winning back the fans for this season. By just simply going for it yesterday and trying to win a winnable game would do so much more than insipidly play for a draw (and then lose). Yesterday was all about a manager who missed the opportunity to show a bit of positive initiative, start afresh and win back some trust.

Excellent comments, and my thoughts exactly. I don't think we will get relegated, not this season. And completely spot on about how MM should play with what he believes in and be judged on it. Unfortunately I think he already has been judged on it and ME is willing to let him try and change his ways over time by becoming a more attractive team. I think ME is completely blinded to the fact that MM only has 1 way, and to be honest I don't think he should be willing to change. One thing that I am sure about is that his time at Ipswich should now be over, its time to move on for all concerned as if not ME may well risk losing the fans as well

Tell you what Charners, Omar Bogle of Grimsby has been banging in the goals, it must be 20+ so far, also Taylor of Brizzle Rovers 15+ there out there in the lower leagues, just need bringing them in

Padraig Amond as well. 30 goals in 40 games for Grimsby last season....... Moved to Hartlepool, scoring 9 from 24 in a pretty sh*t team. This 28 year old laddie knows where the goals are.

posted on TWTD today..

" I have never had any information before but make of this what you will. What I would consider a reliable (but 2nd) source from someone inside PNE has told me Mick has lodged a £1 million plus bid for Hugill with top ups taking it in excess of 1.5. Also said that a fair while back a £300,000 bid was made for the same player. Please don't shoot me down, if you've read any of my posts you will know I don't do this stuff - just reporting what I have been told!"
